My 2009. Not a very good year, realistically.

They all look great to me Ron. You seem to have a thing for wire wheels. oldscool -
rommels rod
oldscool replied to disabled modeler's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Not trying to sound smug or anything but I am building this kit right now and have used the dashboard decal without any problems. I have learned to leave the decals in water for only a few seconds before applying them and also use Microset and Microsol on them. Hope this may help you in the future. -
Welcome ChevyGuy and it looks like you've got that painting thing under control. Nice models! oldscool

I was sitting at a stop light one day when a guy on a motorcycle pulled up beside me. He didn't put a foot down when he stopped and just fell over. I rolled down the window and asked if he was OK and he said yes and that he had been doing that ever since he removed the sidecar. Three bikers were talking around a bonfire. The Honda rider bragged that he once rode 100 miles in 30 degree weather with nothing on but shorts and flip flops. The Triumph rider bragged that he once took a spill and had road rash over 70 % of his body but finished another 150 miles of riding before getting medical attention. The Harley Davidson rider didn't say a word, he just stood there stirring the fire with his penis. oldscool Hope the last joke doesn't break any rules or offends. If so, I won' t post anymore jokes of this type

Since it's almost Christmas
oldscool replied to oldscool's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I started to include birthdays in my post but decided to keep it to a Christmas theme. oldscool -
Can you remember all of the kits that you got as Christmas gifts over the years? I remember an AMT 53 Ford pickup, an AMT 57 Ford, an AMT Buick Wildcat(don't remember what year) and an original AMT starship Enterprise. oldscool

New Years modeling resolutions...
oldscool replied to Custom Hearse's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
You can do it man! You still got a month to finish the other half. My resolution is not to buy anymore kits until I build at least 10 of what i have(except for the new Revell Hemi Darts) -
Revell/Monogram "Street Fighter" Questions.
oldscool replied to Joe Handley's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I built the original issue and it is a very simplified kit. Interior is all molded as one piece except for dash, steering wheel and shifter. Has these huge boat seats molded in and all the clear parts were tinted red including the headlight lenses. The top has a huge skylight in it. Chassis is very simple like the Badman 55 Chevy. It did go together very easily, however I don't know if any changes have been made to the new release but I hope this tells you what you want to know. oldscool -
This is a nice build and I love this car too. Been looking for one of these kits and can't find one online anywhere. Anybody know where i can get one without going to ebay? oldscool - night stalker

Man I love this one! oldscool - night stalker

Awesome paint work! That's a car that isn't customized very often. oldscool - night stalker

WOW! the quintessential 69 Mach I. I remember so many of those in that color back in the day that when I think of a 69 Mach I now my mind pictures one in this color or red. Great job and clean work of opening the doors and trunk. Like the trunk mat too. Revell really should retool the front end and re- release this one. oldscool - night stalker

Which 70 Chevelle SS is better?
oldscool replied to Dante's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I may be a little late to the party here but I have always thought that the front of the Revell kit is too flat. it should have more of a "peak" in the center of the grille. AMT got this part right IMO, but yeah, the rest of the newer Revell kit is better. -
Here's where I'm at with my current project. Well, one of them(still have to finish the Rommels Rod ETO version). Still trying to decide on color for the body. I'm going to do the interior in black and white so it will go with any color I decide to go with on the body. Stock hubcaps will probably be changed to Radirs from the Revell 64 Fairlane kit. That scoop will stay as it fits the styling of this car so well it should have been a factory part IMO.

I like that Terry. You picked a color that looks correct for the time period.
-
I agree with Terry too. I am a convert from the other magazine forum. Since I found this one I hardly ever visit the other one anymore. There is an atmosphere of nostalgia that was missing from the other forum as well as a wealth of knowledge and talent here. Don't get me wrong - there was a wealth of knowledge and talent on the other forum also but this just seems to be a more comfortable place for me .
-
Another masterpiece in the making! Love your work. You are the Larry Watson of modeling.
-
I like what you are doing with it. That is one of the neatest engine setups AMT ever did. By thw way, those are not Weber carbs they are one barrel Carters.
-
WOW! that IS some great paint!
-
That's one of my all time favorite kits. Always thought the hood scoop fit it so well it should have been a factory item.

The word that comes to mind when I see that Stude is KILLER! oldscool
