  1. I've got the day off today so I got some more painting done. The front subframe will be black as will the rear axle. I shot the rear end assembly in silver just to get the exhaust done. These are the wheels I am going with : They are from the Revell 55 Chevy street machine kit so they are the correct 1/24 scale. All the other wheels in my parts box are 1/25. grumpy gus
  2. It looks like you have a clean and organized way of building your models which is a good thing. grumpy gus
  3. Thanks for the link Keith and I now have it bookmarked. I see that the orange and black was a factory option. Hmmmm grumpy gus
  4. Yeah, me too! Please don't stop grumpy gus
  5. The orange seat panels did cross my mind Mike. I might just go with it. grumpy gus
  6. Hey Justin, it's straight from the spray can. grumpy gus
  7. Welcome and you certainly do nice work. grumpy gus
  8. Another killer one . grumpy gus
  9. That's a real nice 'n Brett . grumpy gus
  10. Yep Eelco, that's pretty much the way I build em. I don't worry a whole lot about factory correctness either. As for the confederate flag I could go for a window decal but not the full General Lee treatment. Your Charger looks great by the way. grumpy gus
  11. Got the window trim painted now . Uh, I've done better . I used plain old Testors silver in the little bottle. Decided to do the drip rail trim just because I like the way it looks. grumpy gus
  12. Here's my second project of the year painted with just what you see in the pic. I looooove Tamiya spray paint. It dries smooth as silk in 15 mins and I have never messed up a paint job using it. Getting too expensive for my shrinking budget though. Trying to decide whether to go with the traditional black and white muscle car interior or with a shade of tan. Was tan even a choice in 71? grumpy gus
  13. That is looking really great Don. Don't stop now. grumpy gus
  14. I feel your pain on the tire issue but I have just bought some of the latest AMT/MPC rereleases and the tires in these kits still have logos on the side walls. I don't understand how Round 2 can do it and Revell can't. I think maybe someone just threw the wrong tires in your Olds kit as all the Revell kits I have bought at least had tires that fit the wheels. Unfortunately, the one thing you can't get through the Revell parts replacement program is tires. Ask me how I know. grumpy gus
  15. That is a beautiful Chevelle . Thumbs up to you for having a bottom radiator hose. grumpy gus
  16. I'm liking it so far too. grumpy gus
  17. That is looking fantastic . My favorite year Riv. grumpy gus
  18. I can't tell from pics if they had the chrome trim on the drip rails or not. I believe they didn't since they were base model trim level. grumpy gus
  19. Thanks for the comments crazyjim and Randy. This one has progressed soooo slowly but it's finally getting there. grumpy gus
  20. Nice trick with the exhaust manifold. Can't wait to see more. grumpy gus
  21. Got these yesterday: Don't waste your money on the Shelby as it is pretty poor. I knew what to expect because I built one back in the 70s but the mold quality and fit of everything is bad in this kit. The colored plastic seems rubbery and was oily with mold release agent. Also the wheel backs just fall through the tires although the fronts fit OK. If Round 2 is trying to attract new modelers with this kind of kit they are only going to scare them away. This one should be retired except for maybe the body itself. grumpy gus
  22. Couple of more pics. Interior finished: And a quick mock up: The front will sit a little lower when the body is glued on. grumpy gus
  23. Finally got some painting weather today. Paint is Tamiya pearl white with Testors flat black on the hood. The pearl effect doesn't show very well in the pic but it looks great in person. Keep in mind that I am using the kit decals which I think will look pretty good with this color. Also painted the valve covers and bumper with Tamiya aluminum. Should be finished soon now that it is finally painted. grumpy gus
  24. That is outstanding! Beautiful color. grumpy gus
  25. The 400M was basically a Cleveland with a longer stroke which was accomodated by raising the deck height. This meant that it had a wider intake manifold than the 351 as well as a greater overall width. To the untrained eye they looked alike. grumpy gus
