  1. Maybe I came across as too serious. You are forgiven sir. That really is the best rust I have ever seen. grumpy gus
  2. I think you did a great job grumpy gus
  3. Hah, I was born that way
  4. That's some fantastic work Virgil . You would be great at building armor if you don't already. grumpy gus
  5. Just my luck that I get one with these issues . The tire looks like a chunk has been cut out with a knife rather than a short shot but it's barely noticeable with the wheel inserted. grumpy gus
  6. You guys that can take one car and turn it into a completely different car just amaze me. Awesome work. grumpy gus
  7. Nice engine and that narrow whitewall looks great. grumpy gus
  8. Still looking good Walt. grumpy gus
  9. That is one nice Chevy and the color is great just like everyone else said. I have always thought the AMT version looked better than the Revellogram. The latter looks like it ran into a wall and flattened the front end. grumpy gus
  10. Since I have the day off and it started snowing again , I am getting some more time at the bench. First off are a couple of quality issues that I haven't seen anyone else mention s maybe it's just my kit. One slick has chunk missing from the bead area: The front bumper has a raised line going across it on one end and there was a lump at the bottom of the license plate recess: Too overcome this I am going to strip and sand the bumper and paint it silver to represent a glass one. Here's the manifold with distributor mount and final coat of paint: Should have some more progress pics tonight but still can't do any outdoor painting. Keep them Hemi Darts coming everybody, grumpy gus
  11. You may try sanding the insides of the wheel halves to narrow the wheel. It has worked for me. Hope this helps, oldscool
  12. OK, got the intake where I want it. Don't know if it is really accurate but it looks the way I want it to. I painted it while it was still on the sprue not thinking that it would be cut up. I only have time to do a little work at a time. I'll try to have something more interesting for the next update. oldscool
  13. OMG! you used one of those rare MPC Denman funny car tires for that! That is some very realistic looking rust though. oldscool
  14. I have used Valspar twice and both times it took MONTHS!! to dry. I would guess that humidity is causing your issues. oldscool
  15. Absolutely right Ian. I've never entered a contest and never will. Life is full enough of conflict and ill will without including it in my hobby. I have a job dealing with the public every day and I get my fill of people like that already. Like you, I have gone to shows just to look and mingle. oldscool
  16. I agree with everyone else. Fantastic oldscool
  17. I'm getting a little modeling time in this morning so I did the leveling trick on the intake like a couple of others here have done. Now the more observant of you may be asking "where's the distributor mount ?" I cut it off and will put it back on later because rather than add styrene to level the bottom, I am going to sand the one side down until it's level. The reason for this is after looking at pics of the real thing I think it stands too tall above the valve covers. I've also got primer and a few details painted on the chassis oldscool
  18. That paint job looks good and just keep building. The more you build the better you get. The most important thing is to have fun doing it and don't lose sleep over it. oldscool
  19. That's looking really good. oldscool
  20. That's a great looking Mustang . And you got the whitewalls in the right place. A lot of people put them too close to the tread. oldscool
  21. Man that's nice . I think this is the first one I have ever seen that was built stock! oldscool
  22. I love it . oldscool
  23. Thanks Chuck. Except for the front wheels and tires it was built OOB. oldscool
