  1. That is when I will finally finish a model. I think... pretty sure.
  2. Well now! We have a new "Real Craftsman" on the forum! Way cool. Torgny, I like what you have done so far. I have/had the same project in the works but lost steam last year working on the boat. Love YOUR boat but wonder why you cut out the resin sides out of the car when the real car didn't even have real wood there. That panel was just a decal back in 1953. The real wood was an Ash framework bolted on with chrome head bolts! 1954 saw the frame replaced by painted fiberglass thus the end of the Woody era, but the Mahogany panel starting in 1950 till..... now were always decals. Scale Equipment makes some beautiful decals for this very purpose. At any rate, I like the wood and as Jody says, there is nothing better than wood than wood! P.S. I did the master for that resin wagon, provided it came from Jimmy Flintstone.
  3. I made that screen shot in 2002. I keep it around just incase I forget the recipe...
  4. Yup! Bathroom fans are perfect for this as they are brushless. Therefore no spark can set off the fumes. What I use is a window mounted set of double fans available from Walmart. It is reversable with a switch on both sides and can then be reversed to blow back in when the weather turns cool in the evening. Only thing to look for in a fan, if you are looking for a replacement motor, is the length of the mounting screws and the length of the fan shaft. Other than that... the shape and size of the motor is pretty standard.
  5. I have NEVER seen that car in another color.... and I LIKE IT! Very nice work on the paint and detailing.
  6. Incidentally, that Reel to reel tape deck was the cats meow back in 1964. The 1/4 inch tape was king for quality because one could adjust for a ton of things including the scratches that invariable turned up on a well used vinyl record. Plus most decks had two speeds! A huge reel of 1/4 inch tape could record two hours of musical splender at slow speed. (Talk about your love-in) 8-track tapes utilized that same technology by dividing the same 1/4" tape into 8 segments where the reel to reel used only 4. The miniaturization race was running full tilt back then and Ford got on the band wagon by offering the first 8-track tape deck in an American car with the Mustang. Lear industries developed the technology in the beginning by releasing a 4-track tape deck which was superseded very quickly by the 8-track. 4 track machines might be some of the rarest of the rare music storage devices on the planet! Yes, I said it.. the humble 8-track tape has the same 1/4 inch tape as was found in the home reel to reel deck and the quality was the same and could be had in your CAR!!! This is the reason that 8-track became so popular - for a time. Problems were that the technology was superseded by the advent of dolby which allowed smaller tape (cassette) systems to be developed.... which fell prey to the digital revolution....and the dominos keep falling.
  7. Couple of corrections guys. Tom's last name is "Daniel"! There is no "s" at the end. The Skeleton figures are not right at all. Bone structure is way off on these figures missing the Fibula in the legs and not sure but seems to be missing the Ulna on the arms. Then the Rib Cage is no where near what it should look like. One would be better off using the rib cage from either the Boot Hill Express or Lil' Coffin and modifying stretched-sprue to fix the arms and legs. Unless you don't care that much... then forget what I said. Suprises me that Revell didn't fix the few errors like the Skeleton figures when they obviously made corrections regarding the separate shovel and other details. Oh well.... (Roger, please pick up the lobby phone.) Except for Tom Daniel, he hates it when you call him "Mr. Daniels".
  8. Yeah, me too! Seriously, it's kind of neat. Biggest problem is the pink of course. Lime green with dark green flames. Purple with green flames would be better. But as a "balls-out" - bad to the bone hot rod... I see nothing wrong with it. Screams: LOOK AT ME!
  9. Now those are darned cool and well made! Thanks for posting, love the subject.
  10. An inspired and interesting tip there James! I know that I will be watching the military model shelf from now on...
  11. Rob, Andy and Ken, My understanding over a year ago was that this forum is for discussing model cars ONLY. Not a place to discuss religion, politics or even the price of tea in china! Even in the Rants and Raves section! I was explained this aspect more than once when I tried to post my views. Yet it seems the hypocritical stance of many members of this forum is that only those of one particular belief are allowed the freedom to post screed and nonsensical stupidity. While me and others who share my political and religious beliefs are shouted down claiming "off topic rants" are not allowed. Apparently this is just another example of trickle-down-hypocrisy so prevalent in the current federal administration! It is this attitude and the rude way many of you conduct your hobby that keeps me on other forums were civility and freedom of speech are much more prevalent.
  12. Stealing from little kids now I see.... I would have gave him what he asked because it is obvious that the kits are complete. Saddly, you are not providing a good example to that young man regarding what a true modeler is...
  13. Your my favorite Poster Art...
  14. Nearly every dragster and funny car kit made by Revell and Monogram during the 70's had a Hemi engine! A few like the Willys came with a Cammer Ford but most were Hemi. Some AMT dragsters had beautiful engines but the best were the Revell funnys. Beautiful detailing those....
  15. I solder together my chassis from cut brass pans, brass rod and various dia of steel wire depending on the era they are to represent. Slot cars started out in the 50's as manufactured toys using model railroad motors. Later, scratchbuilders using the soldering iron and other tools built chassis that were quicker and handled better. Like the auto industry, the slot car industry followed suite and the progression culminated in the pressed steel "shaker" chassis that is about the pinaccle of developement thus far. Sites to build your own are plenty. All you have to do is google "scratch built slot cars" to see that. But here are some of my favorites: Slot Forum Slotblog Scratchbuilt The Independent Scratchbuilder
  16. The one that is paid for, running and starts every time I turn the key!
  17. Thank you! The nearest track to me is hour and a half away. But, still I find building slots is way more fun than model cars. Always did, always will. However, learned a ton of stuff building models that really helps detailing and painting slots. Plus, the soldering of slots helps when the need for scratchbuild on models. It is a win + win = win! The Lady is resin in 1/24th. Her measurements are a scale 36-24-36. Don't know her name and not sure where she came from. Have had her in my collection for many years but... yet to paint her and boy I can tell she is getting pissed.....
  18. Matthew, if I know Mr. V, he is just covering up a glue spot...
  19. 8-Tracks? Did someone mention 8-tracks? I got hundreds of them....!!!! Also have half a dozen players including a nice stereo deck. For all their lack of respect, the sound quality is pretty much as good as CD for all intents and purposes. Digital quality can vary depending on the compression, where analog tape contains all the wholesome goodness of a concert including audience sneezes.... providing you can ignore the clunk of the track changing device. Actually not until dolby was introduced did cassette begin to have the a matched quality. And THAT depended on extra digital fussing not needed with the 1/4" tape found in an average 8-track cassette! As for a play list... huge, but here are a few! ABBA Cheap Trick Average White Band Miles Davis Allman Brothers Band Muddy Waters Beatles Boston Cream CCR Chicago Led Zeppelin Niel Young Association Beach Boys ZZ Top Crosby Stills Nash & Young Jimmy Buffett Donovan ELO Ventures Dick Dale Dier Straits Guess Who Who Jefferson Airplane/Starship Elton John Yard Birds Rolling Stones Supertramp Steve Miller Moody Blues Pink Floyd Hell, I am a fan of anything on vinyl and recorded before 1982. Because as everyone knows, that was when Rock n'Roll was perfected!!!
  20. That's the way all '57 Chevys should look....
