Tiny update...did a little more weathering touches to the body, still got a long ways to go. It's starting to look pretty good though! Holes!

Love it! I'm building one of these myself. What method did you use for wiring the engine?

Loving those wire rims! What are they from?

D= This is so insanely awesome, what and inspiration! I am totally blown away right now... -
Thanks for the ideas and tips, guys! I tried drilling out the center...not too happy with it, so I might go with filing it as Ken suggested. I may not be able to go as far, I have a limitation with drill bits and what not, but from the beginning I knew this would only look good if every wire had it's own place. (Love that description, Ken, "a cup that sprouted wires", HA! I totally Lol'd).

Alright, no pictures of it yet, but I drilled the distributor cap and I'm working on the wires. But for now, I roughly have the paint scheme ready on the body, and I'm going to weather/detail it a whole bunch.

Really great job, I'm working on the Revell kit of this car

1968 Pontiac Firebird 400 Build (70's style)

Just thought I'd tell you...because of this thread I went out and got this kit today, you've inspired me to make my own Firebird! This is one of the most detailed builds I've ever seen, and it isn't even finished yet! What do you make your seat belts out of? Also, do you get BMF and flocking from MCG as well as vinyl tops? You're doing really good man, the finished build is going to look great. -

Flippin awesome! I love the authenticity of it all, keep it going! -
Alright~Thanks for the tips guys, I'll do another week of thinking about it and go at it on the weekend. In the meantime, I'll try and get the body finished. @Rob, what exactly do you mean by CA?
-
Thanks! Solder sounds like an alright idea...careful to not break it though!
-
I'll post pictures of the body soon when I get the color scheme finished, but for now I need help with wiring the engine (It'll be my first time, but I've a good plan already). So far, my plan was to use picture hanging wire (was my only quick + cheap option), "drill" the spark plug holes on the valve covers, and glue the wires through the holes. BUT: Now I can't figure out how to glue them on the Distributor Cap!

I guess I can figure out what height I want...what did you use to reconnect the roof?

Here's mine: 1968 Stock Cobra Jet This is my first attempt at the salt-rust idea I read about in the magazine (Cranky's article) -
This is awesome! I just got the revell model yesterday and was thinking of chopping as well. Thing is, I've never chopped anything, that's why I found your thread =D Can I ask you for some tips? I did not realize that there would be more than just cutting the posts D: Anything helps, and nice work on your model!

Wow! It's really awesome, you did an awesome job of painting. I don't know if the side decals/paint is smudged or what, but it looks awesome! It gives the car a tiny tiny little touch of weatherization, makes it look like who ever owned the car didn't just have it for show; they used it for fun! Also, the frame+exhaust and what-not on the bottom look spectacular! Especially the gas tank-really nice build!

Awesome idea with the drywall tape! That looks so awesome!

Looks SWEET! It's not super clean like a toy car, if you don't mind me saying. Looks like a real car. Nice job!

Very cool. The turn it took towards the end is very nice =) -
With every model I've gone through (all 3 =P) I've had this exact same problem, it makes me so mad, I always end up skipping the decals or using clear-drying white tacky glue to get them to stay. Just sayin I have this problem too, and that I'd also like to know what can fix this.

Thanks you two

I got another question, it's about liquid masking and where to get them. I was just reading D. Cranky's article in an older copy of Model Cars about the salt-rusting technique, and the only thing I'm missing really is a liquid mask. Just want to know if anyone recommends a certain one, and also any tips on the salt weathering would really help. Thanks

Gonna go with model.
