  1. I'm afraid that it'll take me a few weeks to go through the bits and peices but you'll both get first dibbs on the things you've expressed an interest in, if I decide to swap anything out. I'm not even sure what I may be interested in as a trade right now. ps I'm not really sure what a "turtle deck T and Bantam body" are. Is the turtle deck the blue-misted one setting on the copper colored fenders? The Bantam body? I've no clue which one it is, but I'm pretty sure it's not the giant orange pick-up! Regards, David G.
  2. Hey Everybody! Yesterday I received the model car junk yard that I won on ebay last week. I'm in hog heaven... if hogs do go to heaven, then I don't feel so bad about having eaten all that bacon over the years! There are about twenty frames/chassis and nearly a dozen partial builds. Of course there's all of that wonderful debris that sifts down to the bottom of such a pile! Motors, wheels, carburetors, seats... it'll take me weeks to sort through it all! Insatnt parts box!!!!! These are the ebay pictures posted by the seller. I hope they won't mind. My day is planned!
  3. That's one to be proud of!
  4. Wow, that's a stumper! Do you think that maybe you and your friends have too much time on your hands? I think you've come up with all of them, at least as far as I know.
  5. The Stretch 'Vette from Mystery Men. I don't know if anybody posted a link to this site yet. If not, there ya go! If so, sorry for the repeat. Now we need somebody to build the Herkimer battle Jitney! David G.
  6. I see now why you converted it to LHD. In Japan where the majority of cars are RHD, I doubt you'd ever see one in this state! Only in America! Beautiful work!
  7. I love when folks modify kits like this, I think this is what the hobby's all about. Especially when it's as well done as yours. Would that rear cover be operated like a trunk lid? If so, would it be hinged at the front or rear? Also, could it be removed for larger cargo? Did you think about putting a couple of tie-down cleats on top of each of the rear quarters? Those wood strips just seem to beg to have a load placed on them! I know, they may be silly questions, but I usually find myself thinking of things like this as I plan a project like this. Your design is most impressive and very believeable! Thanks, David G.
  8. Solid looking build! I love the color combination, that blue really catches the eye.
  9. Thanks for the input guys. I've got some options to consider now. Thanks, David G.
  10. Very impressive work!
  11. Hello everybody, I was at Home Depot yesterday and I got to thinking, why pay $3.00 per ounce for my paint thinner/brush cleaner when I could buy it for $3.00 per gallon. I'm sure somebody in this community knows what I could use as a replacement for the more expensive Testors Enamel Paint Thinner and Brush Cleaner that is carried at the LHS. Thanks, David G.
  12. Is that an example of the "oxide red" that I often hear about?
  13. That is almost too amazing for words!
  14. That's some excellent work, Cranky. I someday hope to be able to do work like yours. I would like to know where you got the "nuke" decals. I've been searching for a couple to use on my Chevy Proton and just haven't had much luck. Any leads you could offer would be appreciated. Thanks, David G.
  15. I'm just now building the Revell VW Bus that I bought there last year. I really enjoyed myself and I'm definately planning on being there this year. I just need to take more money with me this time!
  16. I copied the flyer and stuck it on my desktop. That place is only about half-a-mile from my house!
  17. Too bad that we've all seen it already. It would have been a good candidate for the weekly "Real or Model" contest. Absolutely Amazing!
  18. Hey, welcome to the Bus Club! There are at least three other VW Busses in the works by various builders on this forum, but I think you're the first to finins one. Yours looks really good. Lots of shiney detail going on with it. I understand that the Revell kit that I and most of the others are building is a re-release of the Hasagawa kit. The doors and rear hatch on the Revell kit are pre-cut and could be easily opened, but there's really no interior to speak of, so why bother unless you're willing to build one. Do the doors on the Hasegawa kit open? Thanks, David G.
  19. That's a good clean build. Maybe someday I'll have the courage and patience to chop a top. I also love the Western Smoothies, For years I've been looking for a set of those for my 1:1 '71 Delta 88.
  20. Foxer, Thanks for the link to your conversion version. I remember seeing that shortly after I picked up the kit and I was very impressed by what I saw- there's a lot more work in your build than mine. I'm surprised to hear that you can work with those itty-bitty parking lights but have trouble with the shocks. From what others have posted about the kit, it's a watered-down Revell re-release of the Hasegawa kit. Thanks, David G. Tony, That's what I forgot! I was trying to remember what they looked like inside so I could work out why there were so many holes in the floorboard. There's still time to add one. However, I'm not going to worry about the toe-board. With a flat black floor, I doubt that most folks will even see the pedals once the body's snapped on. I've been following your build too and have picked up a few ideas from you (like the brake handle). But I'm going to try not to go nuts on this one. It's supposed to be a break from that nuclear powered car I've been working on. So I'm trying to keep it a mostly "out of the box" build, but we all know how that usually works out. Thanks, David G. If I remember right, there are two or three more busses currently being featured on this forum. I think it's funny that so many of us started seem to have started building them around the same time. It's not like they're '57 Chevys or anything!
  21. I was getting a bit burned-out with the Chevy Proton I've been working on, so I decided to take a break by building the VW Bus kit that I bought for my wife a few months ago. As we all know by now, there were no pedals included in the kit, so here's my quick and dirty solution. Basic interior, nothing fancy. I frequently need to remind myself that I'm keeping things simple. This is supposed to be a "vacation" build Ok, so I did use a bit of styrene and some Krome Foil to make an ashtray for the seatback. I've also already fixed the thin spot in the flocking on the rear cargo floor. The chassis is mostly done. Next, the body. As always, any and all comments, critiques, observations, etc. are welcome and appreciated. Thanks for looking. David G.
  22. The chopped top makes it look like a machine gun bunker.
  23. Good work on the weathering, it feels both old and solid at the same time.
  24. Absolutely beautiful. I particularly like the engine bay detail, very well done!
