I don't mind the challenge of making the figures look realistic and I think some models benefit from having them with them...dioramas,etc. If anyone wants to toss them out Ill take them and use them in my projects.
Many of the older kit dies had figures and other optional parts, accessories made into them...even the Lincoln Futura figures can be modified to look as others and better with some work. Just would be nice to see the extra goodies make a comeback.
I wish they hadn't disappeared from the kits...to me it was one of the selling points like the old 3 in 1 kits...they cant save the companies that much plastic but could cost a customer at times. I have actually gotten kits, build ups just for the figures with them.
Welcome back to the hobby Justin!... Sorry to hear about your injuries...I have those to deal with too and building is a great escape from it all and great therapy. In my area there is no hobby shops to go to...get most of mine from garage sales, second hand stores and trading with others, etc. There have been many changes with the hobby..some good some bad but there starting to bring back many of the good old kits.
I got my two 61 to 63 Fords(2WD) from my dads old collection of about 75 cars/trucks or so....still looking for parts to repair/restore them. Its kind of a life goal to get them restored and put in cases so they will be around for a long time to come. The parts needed list is huge and have had very little luck so far with them...bummer.
I myself have two of the 61 to 63s I am trying to restore of my dads once I find the parts they need...cant afford the resins for them so there going to have to wait....bummer I like these body styles. Thinking I have a bed from the 60 though here somewhere.
I use the old boxes for storage but the cool or old ones I use for wallpaper....you take the bottom and push a push pin through the bottom into the wall and simply place the cover over it.
