  1. Yes....I have done it many times but never to an old or rare promo that might be able to be saved those I restore. If there damaged or easily got cheap anywhere I make models out of them both curbside and with engines, etc. AND STILL LOOKING FOR MORE. to save/restore or make models from. Some of the earlier promos were made of a plastic that tended to warp badly...they never come back to my experience ether and those types the dip tank is a no no...the plastic cracks and gets soft and useless.
  2. I am with Junkman here...that Wagoneer would be SWEET!!!!!
  3. Having no hobby shops and a very small income I get many of mine from garage sales and second hand stores...the cost of the kit plus shipping these days keep me from ordering kits on line and sometimes you find some really nice rare items.
  4. I currently have no avatar not computer savvy enough to add one yet...LOL... User name kind of says it all for me...in June of 96 I was in a really bad car accident and became disabled...sometimes my building style is too...LOL...
  5. I've built many one at a time before but find its getting harder to while the paint dries and the ideas come. I have many project I need to get done but get sidetracked needing a part or paint, glue, etc. then while looking for it I come up with new ideas for builds.
  6. Hi Kristina....welcome! Yes you did come to the right place...there are many great people here who you can get help and information from, tips, etc. The Revell kit is the closest thing you will find on a budget and if your careful and take your time you can build it into a convertible. And a very honorable project you have in mind...I am sure he will love it!
  7. Welcome Randy!....nice work!
  8. I was just playing around with the idea of trying to build one...cant afford the resins.
  9. Any ideas thinking it might have been the 73 Cougar and 69 Torino kits?

  16. Very nice!
  17. I am very sorry to hear that Darin...you and your family have my deepest sympathy from the heart. God bless and take care of you all. Mark
  18. I don't mind the challenge of making the figures look realistic and I think some models benefit from having them with them...dioramas,etc. If anyone wants to toss them out Ill take them and use them in my projects.
  19. Many of the older kit dies had figures and other optional parts, accessories made into them...even the Lincoln Futura figures can be modified to look as others and better with some work. Just would be nice to see the extra goodies make a comeback.
  20. I like to build the body styles of the 60s to mid 70s....2door,4door,wagon,van,pickup,etc. just like the body styles better.
  21. I wish they hadn't disappeared from the kits...to me it was one of the selling points like the old 3 in 1 kits...they cant save the companies that much plastic but could cost a customer at times. I have actually gotten kits, build ups just for the figures with them.
  22. Welcome back to the hobby Justin!... Sorry to hear about your injuries...I have those to deal with too and building is a great escape from it all and great therapy. In my area there is no hobby shops to go to...get most of mine from garage sales, second hand stores and trading with others, etc. There have been many changes with the hobby..some good some bad but there starting to bring back many of the good old kits.
