This is my project for the Classic Plastic Model Club Exposition "Club Challenge" '48 Or Older Street Rods. I am building a '32 Ford 5-Window Coupe with full fenders and the 392 CI Hemi engine with steel wheels, trim rings, and hubcaps and wide whitewall tires. I am going to attempt painting the wide whites with an acrylic flat white paint through my Badger Universal 360 Airbrush. My kit is the Revell '32 Ford 5-Window Coupe #85-4228. My body paint will be Testors One Coat Lacquer Lime Ice #18350. The interior will be white with embossing powder for carpets and painted with Polly Scale Burlington North Green F414209. So far, I got the basic Hemi assembled and ready for some Mopar Street Hemi Orange Engine Enamel and the body has been sanded for mold lines and ready for primer. More to come...

With my Jaguar Mk. II Saloon nearly finished, I can continue working on the Morgan 4/4. I got the body and body panels into a coat of primer and found some more moldlines to deal with. I spent nearly an hour looking for and removing the mold lines. Back in March, I watch a series on Velocity called For The Love Of Cars with Philip Glenister and Ant Anstead. The episode finds them purchasing and restoring a '69 Aston Martin DBS similar to the car driven in the James Bond movie On Her Majesty's Secret Service with George Lazenby. The restored DBS was repainted a dark olive green and the interior was reskinned in oxblood or dark red leather. I'm going to paint the seats of the Morgan in a dark red or oxblood color and the rest of the interior will be black. More to come...

Hobbico - BANKRUPT!

I got a text this morning from Revell apologizing for the mixup and then telling me that they don't have access to the support database and I should contact service at Revell.de for assistance. I'm not going down that road again! I have the correct hood coming from a fellow Club member. -
The Story Based on Scotland Yard's investigation, Colin Spencer who is already in custody, ran with Dane Parker and they both worked for Frank Duncan, a known crime boss in London. McNally stops at Dane's flat just outside of London and knocks on the door. Dane opens the door and is asked if he would talk to him for a moment. Dane recognizes McNally and refuses to answer any questions and shows McNally a Walther P99 and has him enter the flat, assume the position on the wall and searches him. Dane takes McNally's SIG and tucks it into his belt, pulls out his cellphone and makes a call. McNally figures that the call is to Frank Duncan who wants him brought over to his place for questioning. Dane leads McNally down to his rental and they drive away to Frank's base of operations. While they are driving, McNally tells Dane that while he has the gun, McNally is in charge and he presses the gas pedal to the floor and the car takes off in a hurry. "Unload your gun and toss it into the back seat," says McNally! Dane replies, "Slow down, man or I'll shoot!" "Shoot me and I'll crash this car," yells McNally. Dane cocks the Walther P99 and McNally sends the Astra into a sideways skid and into a large oak tree, passenger side first. The crash kills Dane and McNally is dazed as he tries to get out of the car by opening the door and falling to the ground after releasing his seat belt. A Metro Police car stops at the scene with its lights flashing and the cop runs over to McNally lying in the street. "The man in the car has a gun," says McNally and the cop pulls his weapon and approaches the Astra and removes the Walther P99 from the floor and McNally's SIG after checking Dane for a pulse. A short while later, McNally is transported to the Hospital to be checked out. The Build I mocked up the Jag to see how it was progressing. I still need to clean the glass, reassemble the Jag and glue the front end down, and finish adding the rest of the chrome bits. McNally will return...

Hobbico - BANKRUPT!
mrmike replied to niteowl7710's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'm not going to bother with Revell over the issue of the hood. My timing was off and I got caught in the middle of this. I've got another hood coming and I'm going to move on from this issue. It is unfortunate that this happened when it did, so it's time to move ahead. -

Hobbico - BANKRUPT!

Yes, it does seem to be bad timing on my part, but I now have a correct hood coming from a fellow Club member. I was telling him about the kit that I had bought and he also had, but pirated the engine for another project. He offered me the hood and I will have it in a couple of days. If Revell had sent me the correct hood when I had originally requested it, this whole scenario could have been avoided. But, the person pulling the parts had pulled the wrong hood instead. I am rather mad and frustrated with Revell just because someone couldn't do their job right! Read the paperwork and read the part sprue number tag and make sure that they both match and then put the correct pieces in the box!!! -

I am waiting for for a correct hood from Revell USA that I doubt I'll ever receive and I sent a message to Revell asking about this. I bought a sealed kit on clearance from a store that went out of business and the kit has two of the same part sprues in it. I had sent in a request for the correct parts and received three out of the four correct parts and the incorrect hood. I now have two extra incorrect hoods (for a total of three identical hoods). I just want the correct hood in the kit for when I do start building the kit and a friend has offered me the correct hood from his kit since he wasn't going to use it. I am going to be like some of the others and wait and see what happens next since I am hearing so much bad information from other so-called knowledgeable people. -

Thank you Terry, Jeremy, and Chris! Unfortunately, the more I look at this truck, the more I hate the mis-matched paint. I've decided to remove the bed and add another coat of Tamiya TS-92 Metallic Orange paint. -
This is my '65 Fleetside Pickup painted with Tamiya TS-92 Metallic Orange with a Model Master Flat Interior Tan and Tamiya XF-10 Flat Brown interior. The wheels and tires are from the Revell '62 Corvette kit and the Fleetside bed is from a Revell '64 Chevrolet Fleetside Pickup kit from fellow Classic Plastic Model Club member Barry.

Thank you David! The Story As the Police roundup the suspects and handcuff them all, McNally and Lt. Troy walk into the garage and stand in the doorway looking around. McNally looks to his right and sees the Chevy Pickup off to the side. He walks over to the truck and looks inside and the keys are in the ignition and the truck overall looks to be untouched. Lt. Macklin walks over to them and says, "There's your missing truck, McNally." McNally smiles and replies, "Yep. You've got your work cut out for you." "It's gonna be a long night," replies Lt. Macklin. The day after Peter's funeral, McNally pulls up to the Mathius house follow by a flatbed wrecker. The wrecker has Peter's missing pickup on the back. The wrecker stops in the street and unloads the old Chevy into the street and McNally gets in and starts it up and drives the pickup into the driveway next to Caroline's Chrysler 300. She comes out of the house to see McNally just as an old Plymouth Neon pulls up to the house and David gets out of the car. Caroline thanks McNally for his work and goes over to David and they hug each other. McNally walks over to the wrecker driver and signs his paperwork. He puts the papers into the truck except for the towing bill which goes into his pocket. He gets into his Dodge Challenger SRT8 and drives away, watching mother and son hug each other. McNally will return... The Build I have finished my '65 Chevy Fleetside Pickup and it is posted in Under Glass. As I started final assembly, I notice the cab and the bed are two different shades of metallic orange. They will stay that way since both have been painted and clearcoated and I don't feel like trying to correct the mis-matched colors. I would like to thank all those who have taken the time to view and to comment on my build.

The Story Lt. Det. Macklin organizes the raid on Ollie's Body Shop while Lt. Det. Troy tries to question Davey on the murder of Peter Mathius. Davey is uncooperative and his public defender tells him to not answer any questions. Lt. Troy decides to return to the body shop with McNally to help with the raid with Lt. Det. Macklin and the Auto Theft Squad. It is now after well midnight and the Police officers quietly surround the building. With all exits covered, Lt. Macklin gives the command to go and the Police enter the shop with their weapons drawn and the occupants are caught off guard. The Build I had to repaint the bed of the truck when I noticed several marks on the passenger side when it was found resting on it's side A careful masking and repaint was in order but the color is a shade darker so I'll have to mask off the body and add another coat of paint and several coats of clear to it. I wasn't sure if I would be able to do this, but armed with a with a cup of Tamiya TS-45 Pearl White, a 000 brush, and my magnifier, I painted the lettering on the tailgate. McNally will return...

My Police cars that I have built over the years and you can tell by the "workmanship" that they possess, I have improved over the years. The first was the '92 Caprice followed by the '96 Ford Crown Vic Police Interceptor New Hampshire State Police. My '70 Ford Custom was next modeled after the Danny Williams car from Hawaii 5-0, the '00 Crown Vic Police Interceptor Highway Patrol, and the 2005 NYPD Police car. I have the Lindberg 2008 Dodge Charger to build as a New Hampshire State Police Car.

The Story McNally goes over to the bar and introduces himself to Supt. Connolly and buys him a draft and invites him over to the table with DC Ashley Campbell. They chat for a few minutes and then McNally asks about DC Campbell being taken away from him as his guide around London and the Metro's procedures and the UK's laws. Supt. Connolly will reassign DC Campbell to him and have a serious chat with DCI Ashenbell about the Crumbelt case. They continue chatting about the case and what evidence that McNally has found, or lack of and the possible interference from Scotland Yard. Connolly says if McNally has any issues with DCI Ashenbell, to call him directly and he hands McNally his business card. The following morning, McNally and DC Campbell are summoned to David Crumbelt's flat by Scotland Yard. The garage door is open and his Jag has been pushed out of the stall by someone and was found with the hood and driver's door open. McNally asks DCI Ashenbell if he can take a look and is sternly told, "This is a Police matter and you don't. Stay out of our way!" DCI Ashenbell directs DC Campbell to help the other officers and McNally stands back out of the way, making his way to the street and back to his rental car. He knows who might have been involved with the possible heist of the Jag and he is not telling anyone from Scotland Yard. The Build I went and grabbed my new sheet of BMF the other day, only to discover that the adhesive had dried up and was starting to seperate itself from the carrier sheet. I went out this afternoon and bought a new sheet of BMF and some Micro Metal Foil Adhesive by Microscale from my LHS. I was hoping to be able to finish foiling the body today, but that'll have to wait until tomorrow. McNally will return...

The Story Since Lt. Det. Macklin is in charge of this operation, Lt. Det. Troy and McNally will wait until they are given the OK to enter the body shop. A group of officers from Auto Theft, Homicide, and off-duty patrol officers will make up the force entering the body shop with a smaller group of officers arresting the chopper and thieves. Lt. Troy in the meantime will continue to question Davey about the murder of Peter Mathieus. The search of Davey's room found the murder weapon, a large folding knife, hidden in an heating duct still covered with traces of Peter's blood and Davey's fingerprints. A doorbell video shows a hooded figure with a partial view of the murderer's face committing the gruesome crime. The Build I painted the Chevy this morning and it looks pretty good. A wetsanding, clear coat, and polishing and then I can assemble the truck. McNally will return...

Yes, the black wash does help bring out the details of those wheels.

The Story McNally and the two lieutenants meet upstairs in Lt. Macklin's office to discuss a strategy for raiding Ollie's Body Shop in Brighton. Macklin calls his UC, Det. Harry Colm to find out where he is and if he can come into the office. Det. Colm says he can and will be there in 15 minutes. McNally asks Lt. Troy how this will affect his investigation of the Mathieus murder and Adam replies that he question Davey further and the evidence he has is pointing towards him. Macklin tells McNally since he is a public citizen, he cannot participate in the raid and that he doesn't have any protection like a bullet-proof vest, to which McNally replies, "Oh, yes I do!" McNally walks out of the office and goes to his car to retreive his vest and Det. Colm walks into the office while he is gone. He brings the lieutenants up to speed on his undercover investigation. McNally returns to the office with his bullet-proof vest which has "PI" stenciled on the front and back. It's an idea that he had while watching a TV show about a New York cop and a writer. The vest has been through several car crashes and destructions, but it's still in very good condition. The Build I did a mockup of the truck to see how it is coming together. So far, I like it! McNally will return...

Thank you David! With the filler neck kinda flopping around before the glue sets, it just had to be aligned otherwise I would have to break the glue joint and reset to filler neck again. This saves me a step later in the build.

The chassis is complete minus the wheels and tires. I did a mockup so I could set the proper angle on the gas tank filler neck. I added a black wash to the wire wheels. More to come...
