Thanks guys! This is my abortive attempt at trying to drill out the kit distributor. Yes, I destroyed it! I dove into my parts box and found a distributor to a big block Ford. I drilled it out and added plug wires and boots. The boots are short pieces of wire insulation. I think I cut 16 plug boots and lost 8 of them while trying to slip them onto the plug wires. More to come...

Thanks guys! Erik, it seems that you didn't test fit your parts for size before final placement. A little trimming of the lenses might have prevented some of your issues. I did a mock up to check the stance and it is almost there. I may shim the rear up slightly since the lowering job is at best subtle. Things may change when I get the interior completed. The metal pins included with the kit fit these wheels perfectly. The decals for the 10 hole wheels seem to be made for these wheels as they are the same diameter of the wheel centers. I may apply those as part of the final assembly. More to come...

Thanks guys and thanks Daniel for showing your Mustangs. This is a great kit! So far, everything lines up where it should with a positive mounting point. As I proceed with this kit, I am looking for points for modification such as lowering the suspension and wiring the engine. I want to use the kit distributor with ignition wires, so some careful drilling will be needed and I'm not to sure if I can get all the needed wires to fit the part. We shall see. I wanted to lower the front suspension a bit and this is how I did it. On the lower A-arms and center brace, there are some ribs that I removed using my sanding stick and a chisel point hobby knife being very careful not to remove the mounting pins. This was a tedious task and it took me about 10-15 minutes to successfully complete. There is a single rib that runs along the front of the engine cradle. I removed that with a sanding stick. This brought the front suspension down about a 1/16 inch which made a big difference to me. More to come...

Thanks for being so patient Ben! I pulled the tape off last night and I am very, very happy with the results! I hope to clearcoat the Mustang tomorrow with Testors Wet Look Clear Lacquer. More to come...

Thanks guys! There is a similarity between the wheels I have chosen and the Borbet wheels that you have posted and the tu-tone I was thinking of is exactly the one you have posted, Steve! Thanks! Austin, that is an interesting idea that you have posted here, but the title of my stories has always ended with McNally, Boston PI. My character grew up and lives in Boston , not LA. Besides, during the Nineties, he was serving the US Army. Sorry. An opportunity this afternoon came to work on the Mustang. I decided to go for the tu-tone paint scheme so I painted the body with Model Master Plymouth Bright Platinum Metallic. Then I masked off the upper portion of the body and painted the lower section with Tamiya TS-18 Metallic Red. I also painted the rest of the body pieces in the appropriate colors. I'll unmask this later and hopefully I won't have any overspray or seeping under the tape. More to come...

I am starting my last project for 2013. This is Revell's '90 Mustang LX 5.0 and I am impressed with this kit! No flash, minimal mold lines, and crisply molded parts. I am aware that the roof may be a tad low, but that doesn't concern me at all. I ordered some K&N resin air filters for this kit and for other projects. I have long hated the 10 hole wheels that Ford designed for this car, so I dug out some 5-spoke wheels from a Ferrari Daytona kit that I had not used along with a set of tires that, IIRC, came from the AMT '67 Impala SS Custom kit. I will be adding the hood scoop that came in the MPC Wild Breed Mustang kit courtesy of fellow Classic Plastic Model Club member Barry Fadden. My exterior paint will be Tamiya TS-18 Metallic Red. I am considering a tu-tone paint scheme using a metallic gray for the top half of the car but, we shall see... The body with the hood scoop. More to come...

Thanks John! The Story The following day, McNally drive Tracy to Logan Airport so she can catch her flight back to Las Vegas. They say their goodbyes at the TSA checkpoint with a vague promise of keeping in touch with each other. They hug and then Tracy kisses McNally on the cheek and says into his ear, "I love you", and then hurries away to board her flight. He walks over to the window to watch as her plane is pushed away from the terminal and over to the runway and takes off into the clear blue sky. All this time, her words are still ringing in his ears, "I love you". McNally arrives home and parks the Shelby in front of the garage, goes inside and sits down on a stool in front of his work bench, removes his cell phone and turns it off. A short while later, Caitlyn parks her Mustang GT in front of McNally's home and walks up the driveway and sees the garage door open and she goes over to it. She sees McNally sitting at the bench and softly calls out his name. He turns around and sees her standing in the doorway and motions for her to come in. "Are you OK" she asks and he replies that he is fine. McNally looks into Caitlyn's eyes and says, "Caitlyn, I love you", to which see replies, "I love you too, McNally." McNally, Boston PI will return... The Build I have finished my '10 Shelby GT500 and it is posted in Under Glass. I would like to thank all those who have taken the time to view and to comment on my WIP.

The Story McNally drives past the old church hall on Palling Street several times before parking down the street from the place. He checks his Smith & Wesson Model 4506 and places it in his shoulder holster before getting out of the Shelby. He walks around the outside of the hall before entering through the rear door that was locked. He finds his way up to the main hall which is littered with paper and other debris and looks around before finding a spot to sit down and wait for Dominic. He checks his watch and it is only 8:35 PM and he hears some noise coming from the front of the building five minutes later. It is Dominic who has brought a lantern and McNally surprises him by saying, "Hello Dominic!" Surprised by McNally's greeting, he runs up to McNally ready to fight only to be met by McNally's fist to his face. A few minutes of trading blows to each other ends with McNally giving Dominic a combination of lefts and rights to Dominic's body and face with Dominic finally hitting the floor exhausted and bleeding from the cuts and wounds on his face. Sgt. Det. Troy walks into the hall with two patrol officers behind him and Dominic is cuffed and arrested. Adam says, "You OK" and McNally tells him that he is fine and he quietly walks out of the hall. The Build The body, interior, and chassis have been joined together. The engine bay is nearly complete. I foiled the taillight buckets. McNally will return...

Thanks Fred! I choose gray to help highlight the interior against the dark blue body. If I didn't care for the interior, I would have painted it black to hide it.

Thanks guys! Is comfortable! Is fast! And, catches the bad guys quickly! Definitely the way to go...

Thanks guys! James, I did the roof strips afterwards. Charlie, I use Tamiya tape for my masking. It is thin and sticky enough to work very well for me. It also cuts nicely with a sharp hobby knife and burnishes well. The Story McNally walks outside of Boston Police Headquarters and over to his new Shelby that is parked at the curb and leans against the fender with his cellphone in his hand. He dials the number that Tracy had given him and listens for the call to be pick up. “Hello?” “Hello Dominic. The name’s McNally.” “Oh…you’re the private eye that is trying to find me, aren’t you?” “Yes I am. And, it is time for us to meet. Pick a place and time and I’ll be there.” “Yes! It is time and I do want to meet you,” he laughs. “The old church hall on Palling St. by the T-Station. 9:00 PM. No guns, no cops, and come alone.” “I’ll be there,” says McNally and the line goes dead. The Build I got the seats decaled and installed into the floor plate along with the dash and center console. Then I got the interior side panels installed. A closeup of the dash and console. McNally will return...

Thanks Carl! The Story McNally stops at BPD headquarters to talk to Sgt. Adam Troy about the dead truck driver and Dominic Chadbourne. Adam tells of a warrant for Dominic's arrest from San Francisco PD for the murder of a 30 year old woman in their city. An BOLO has been issued for his arrest , but McNally has an idea...he needs to set a meeting with Dominic to settle this once and for all. He calls Tracy to get Dominic's cell phone number which Tracy still has. He then tells Adam that he has a plan and asks if Adam wants in on it. Adam replies, "Heck ya!" The Build I spent part of last night and this morning masking the body so I can paint the trim with Tamiya TS-29 Semi-Gloss Black. All that masking and trimming was worth the effort! McNally will return...

Thanks Jake! Thanks Charlie! In my first McNally, Boston PI story, Tracy was with McNally when he purchased his first Mustang, a metallic blue '06 Mustang that was rebuilt by his friend, Vic. The Mustang was destroyed in a later story and was replaced by the '06 Charger Daytona. Tracy is not a car person, rather a businesswomen whose company caters to women entrepreneurs. To her, a car is nothing more than a means of transportation.

Thanks John! The Story McNally calls the owner of the Shelby and strikes a deal for the car. The balance of the afternoon was spent at the bank and the Registry transferring his plates from the Charger to the Shelby. He spends whatever little time he has left in the afternoon looking for Dominic with no success. He calls Caitlyn and agrees to met her at her condo to pick up Tracy and watch over her for the rest of the night. Tracy gets into the Shelby and says, "Another blue Mustang?" The Boston PI replies, "No, my first blue Shelby." The Build Last night I cut down the rear coil springs by using my razor saw and removing two coils. I removed two coils from the front coils. The chassis is nearly complete. McNally will return...

Thanks Jonathan and Duane! Jonathan, has the 2005-2010 Mustang CBP ended? No postings in over a year and you did tell me that it was open-ended. Just wondering... Duane, great to see you on this forum!

The Story Sgt. Det. Troy escorts McNally, Caitlyn, and Tracy outside and he returns McNally's Smith & Wesson Model 4506 and shoulder holster back to him. Dominic has checked out of his hotel and his whereabouts are unknown. An APB has been issued for his detainment for questioning. McNally will escort Caitlyn and Tracy back over to the DA's office building and then he'll hop on the T and head over to Vic's garage to check out the Charger Daytona. Hopefully Vic will have a rental for him. McNally arrives at Vic's Auto and sticks his head into Vic's office and asks about the Charger. They go out back to the yard and inspect the damaged car which appears to be totaled. After removing his belongings from the car, they return to Vic's office and Vic's tells of a Shelby GT500 that he has on commission and the owner is looking to sell fast. The Shelby looks brand new and McNally sits inside and starts the car and takes it out for a test drive. Vic watches from the car lot and says aloud to himself, "Come on Mc...punch it!" As if McNally had heard him, he floors the gas pedal and the car takes off screeching its tires and McNally deciding that he had to have this car. The Build I have finished the engine... and mounted it in the chassis. McNally will return...

Thanks Austin, Carl, and Roy! Austin, you are not the first nor will you be the last person to ask or make the suggestion. Compiling a collection of my story/builds has crossed my mind a time or two. I have been doing about two to three story/builds every year since 2009, so I have done a few. I would have to gather the pictures I want to use, set up the text and merge them all together into one. I have thought about doing all one story using the various short stories that I have written since during that time. Sadly to say, I doubt I would ever see that project come to fruition.

Thank you Brian! It's a bit darker than I wanted, but came out very nice and smooth. The Story McNally is transported to Mass. General Hospital's ER and checked out. The doctor says he will be OK with a few bumps and bruises to show for his efforts. The doctor tells him he can get dressed, but he struggles getting his t-shirt over his head being so sore. He hears Caitlyn's voice say, "Oh, McNally...let me help you." When he pokes his head through the shirt he says, "Do I know you?" as she looks at him with an inquiring look on her face. "McNally," she says and he replies, "I don't know who this McNally is, but you smell so nice and look so pretty." Caitlyn slaps him on the upper arm and he buries his head into her shoulder and replies, "Doctor, doctor...I'm having an attack!" She replies, "Stop it or I'll really hurt you!" "OK, can I have a ride home?" "Of course," she says with a wink and a smile. Tracy then walks into the treatment room and starts yelling at McNally. "This is going to stop right now! You are going to get hurt or killed!" "I will not stop this investigation. Your ex has tried to kill me and he has to be stopped. I've already had to kill someone because of this," he says grabbing his jacket and walking out looking for the cop who has his gun. At the nurse's station, he sees Sgt. Adam Troy waiting for him with his Smith & Wesson Model 4506 and shoulder holster. The Build I clearcoated the body and hood with Testors One Coat Lacquer clear last week and gave it a light polishing this morning. The interior panels and interior floor were painted with Model Master Fabric Gray. The seats and side panels will be given a coat of semi gloss clear. The floor will be flocked. The suspension pieces have been painted with Tamiya TS-29 Semi-Gloss Black. McNally will return...

A super looking Fairlane! i love the detail and the color, too! Great job Larry!!

Thanks Carl! Well John, don't I know! No sealer means silver fingers at the dinner table!

Thanks Greg! This model went together without any problems. The only thing I can recommend is to be very careful installing the hood onto the body. Carefully bend the hood slightly in the center and slip the mounting pins into place.
