  1. My new project features the return of McNally, Boston PI. The story is only to show what is driving this project. All characters used in this story are not relationed to anyone living or deceased. The story is called Judicial Indiscretion. The Story He wakes up confused and groggy in a bed that is not his. He turns on the light beside him a sees the body of a woman he doesn't know with a broken neck. He jumps out of bed and searches for his clothes which are scattered all over the floor with the deceased woman's clothes. Once dressed, he looks out the door of what appears to be a motel and quietly closes the door behind him, goes over to the railing and looks below for his car...a red Viper. He hurries down the stairs from the second level and gets into his car which was parked below. He starts the Viper and drives out of the motel parking lot in a hurry, screeching his tires once out on the street. The phone on McNally's bedstand rings at 6:30 AM and he tries to answer the call intelligently, "Whahhhmmmph..." McNally has only been asleep for about an hour after working all night chasing down a forgery suspect and then having to deal with the night detectives who seemed more interested in arresting McNally than the forgery suspect. "McNally, it's Charlie...wake up!" "Charlieee..." "McNally," she screams!!! "I'm awake, Charlie." "Good. Be at the courthouse at 8 AM, I've got a job for you!" "OK, I'll be there," he says as he hangs up the phone and drags himself out of bed and into the bathroom for a cold shower. The Build I am using Revell's Dodge Viper SRT-10 kit no. 85-2188. My paint will be Tamiya TS-49 Bright Red. McNally will return...
  2. Hey Tony, long time, no hear! Your Torino is looking really good and I am looking forward to seeing more.
  3. Thanks guys! John, I thought you might like that link! I got a little time this afternoon to work on the 'Cuda. I stripped the chrome off of the carb and alternator and then I painted them up. I drilled out the distributor, added my wires, painted the distributor and then mount it on the engine. More to come...
  4. Thanks Carl! I have finished my '90 Mustang LX 5.0 and it is post in Under Glass. I would like to thank all those who have taken the time to view and to comment on my WIP.
  5. This is my '90 Mustang LX 5.0 Notchback. It is painted with Model Master Bright Platinum Metallic over Tamiya TS-18 Metallic Red with a Model Master Insignia Red and Model Master Acryl Neutral Gray interior. Wheels are from a Fujimi Ferrari Daytona and the tires are from the AMT 1967 Chevrolet Impala Street Machine. The engine is wired.
  6. Get some of this- http://www.microscale.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=MI-8&Category_Code=FINPROD&Product_Count=7 It's cheaper than a new sheet of foil, especially if the foil itself is still in good condition.
  7. Thanks Niko, Richard, and Wayne! I have finished the engine. I am a bit undecided if I want to use the Mustang wheel center decals on the Daytona wheels or to use the Daytona's center cap and knockoffs. I gave the hood and body a good polishing with Meguiars Scratch X 2.0. More to come...
  8. Thanks John and Carl! I finished the interior this afternoon. I installed the engine and driveshaft into the chassis. A mockup of the interior and chassis. I hope to be able to finish the suspension on the chassis tonight as I haven't assembled all the components yet. More to come...
  9. And, finally for this afternoon, I painted the 'Cuda Sassy Grass Green. I'll let this gas out for a few days and then go from there. More to come...
  10. Thanks John and Gerald! Gerald, I will not be using the 727 auto trans in my 'Cuda. I will be using the 4-speed manual transmission and the kit rear axle. I washed the body parts this morning and while that was drying, I went and assembled the engine. The engine will be painted with Mopar Street Hemi Orange Engine Enamel. Once the body parts have dried, I'll coat them with Tamiya primer and then paint them with Model Master No. 28118 Green Go aka Sassy Grass Green. More to come...
  11. Thanks Bryan and Carl! I love Sunday mornings! Everyone else in the house is sleeping and I can come down into the model cave and work in peace and quiet. I decided to paint the interior this morning with Model Master Insignia Red with my Badger Universal 360 Airbrush. I painted the headliner with Model Master Acryl Neutral Gray. More to come...
  12. OK John...the 383 is mated to a 4-speed as Revell really didn't do a muscle car era model with an auto trans AFAIK. The rear axle? When you consider the era that this car was built and the lengthy option lists, it was possible that a Dana rear axle was available. Chrysler was known for adding options that were not officially on paper. The air cleaner will be round '68-'69 flat black air cleaner and I may add a pair of snorkels if I feel so inclined. http://www.nicksgarage.com/aircleaner.htm Yes, it is my build and it may not be 100% correct or factory stock and I don't care as long as it turns out looking the way I want it. OK John, now it's your turn, please explain to me what BS23NO means as it is just gibberish in my simple mind. Thanks Bob, Gene, Carl, and Larry!
  13. When Revell announced that they would be releasing a 1/25 scale '70 'Cuda, I was overjoyed! And, that the kit came with the dual scoop hood made me even happier. But, the only engine option was the Hemi. Now, don't get me wrong, I love the Hemi! It's my favorite four-letter word, but I wanted something a little different. I did a little research to confirm what I thought I knew...the standard 'Cuda engine was a 383 CI 4-barrel big block! This would make my 'Cuda different from anyone else's. I dug through my decals and found some leftover Keith Marks 1/25 scale 'Cuda decals. Then, I dove into my parts box and found a 440 from a Revell '69 Charger Daytona that will pass as a 383 since the size difference in scale is hardly noticeable. I have some Shabo Tire Graphics for the unmarked tire sidewalls. My goal is to build a standard 'Cuda that had a few options on it. The kit is Revell's '70 Hemi 'Cuda #85-4268. My leftover Keith Marks decals. My paint will be Model Master No. 28118 Green Go aka Sassy Grass Green. More to come...
  14. Thanks Ira and Daniel! Sorry Daniel, I traded those and several other sets of wheels for a set of Revell Cragar SS mags.
  15. Thanks guys! So far, I'm really like this kit! I finally clear-coated the body with Testors Gloss Clear lacquer. 3 mist coats and 1 wet coat. I'll polish this out and add another wet coat. I painted the upper manifold and while that was drying, I cut off the airbox from the air tube. I'll add a resin open element air filter to the end of the tube. More to come...
  16. I've been building models for 55 years without a license and I haven't been caught yet! Oh, I know I'm going to a very bad place when they do catch up with me...
  17. Well Jason, that is an interesting side story! And, it could be used if there was a story attached to this build. I choose not to add a story since I didn't want one with this build. I really do appreciate the followers who like my stories and I am happy to display them here for all to read. In my chronology for McNally, he and his friend Johnny Hallis were building a '68 Dodge Dart together when they were in high school. I built that model almost 3 years ago. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/?showtopic=42895 In my story, McNally drove an old Volkswagon Beetle which was his first car. I haven't developed a story involving his first car, so that'll come later. I got lazy last week and didn't work on the Mustang at all. I got out of work early yesterday and spent some time on the Mustang by doing some painting and assembly of some of the smaller components. I glued on the rear coil springs and mocked up the rear suspension, front suspension, and the exhaust system. While the exhaust tips had a slight indentation, I decided to drill out the tips anyway, in case I don't add some aluminium tubing for exhaust tips. I got the engine wired, but I still need to do a few touchups and add a coupe of decals. More to come...
  18. Thanks guys! This is my abortive attempt at trying to drill out the kit distributor. Yes, I destroyed it! I dove into my parts box and found a distributor to a big block Ford. I drilled it out and added plug wires and boots. The boots are short pieces of wire insulation. I think I cut 16 plug boots and lost 8 of them while trying to slip them onto the plug wires. More to come...
  19. Thanks guys! Erik, it seems that you didn't test fit your parts for size before final placement. A little trimming of the lenses might have prevented some of your issues. I did a mock up to check the stance and it is almost there. I may shim the rear up slightly since the lowering job is at best subtle. Things may change when I get the interior completed. The metal pins included with the kit fit these wheels perfectly. The decals for the 10 hole wheels seem to be made for these wheels as they are the same diameter of the wheel centers. I may apply those as part of the final assembly. More to come...
  20. Thanks guys and thanks Daniel for showing your Mustangs. This is a great kit! So far, everything lines up where it should with a positive mounting point. As I proceed with this kit, I am looking for points for modification such as lowering the suspension and wiring the engine. I want to use the kit distributor with ignition wires, so some careful drilling will be needed and I'm not to sure if I can get all the needed wires to fit the part. We shall see. I wanted to lower the front suspension a bit and this is how I did it. On the lower A-arms and center brace, there are some ribs that I removed using my sanding stick and a chisel point hobby knife being very careful not to remove the mounting pins. This was a tedious task and it took me about 10-15 minutes to successfully complete. There is a single rib that runs along the front of the engine cradle. I removed that with a sanding stick. This brought the front suspension down about a 1/16 inch which made a big difference to me. More to come...
  21. Thanks for being so patient Ben! I pulled the tape off last night and I am very, very happy with the results! I hope to clearcoat the Mustang tomorrow with Testors Wet Look Clear Lacquer. More to come...
  22. Thanks guys! There is a similarity between the wheels I have chosen and the Borbet wheels that you have posted and the tu-tone I was thinking of is exactly the one you have posted, Steve! Thanks! Austin, that is an interesting idea that you have posted here, but the title of my stories has always ended with McNally, Boston PI. My character grew up and lives in Boston , not LA. Besides, during the Nineties, he was serving the US Army. Sorry. An opportunity this afternoon came to work on the Mustang. I decided to go for the tu-tone paint scheme so I painted the body with Model Master Plymouth Bright Platinum Metallic. Then I masked off the upper portion of the body and painted the lower section with Tamiya TS-18 Metallic Red. I also painted the rest of the body pieces in the appropriate colors. I'll unmask this later and hopefully I won't have any overspray or seeping under the tape. More to come...
  23. I am starting my last project for 2013. This is Revell's '90 Mustang LX 5.0 and I am impressed with this kit! No flash, minimal mold lines, and crisply molded parts. I am aware that the roof may be a tad low, but that doesn't concern me at all. I ordered some K&N resin air filters for this kit and for other projects. I have long hated the 10 hole wheels that Ford designed for this car, so I dug out some 5-spoke wheels from a Ferrari Daytona kit that I had not used along with a set of tires that, IIRC, came from the AMT '67 Impala SS Custom kit. I will be adding the hood scoop that came in the MPC Wild Breed Mustang kit courtesy of fellow Classic Plastic Model Club member Barry Fadden. My exterior paint will be Tamiya TS-18 Metallic Red. I am considering a tu-tone paint scheme using a metallic gray for the top half of the car but, we shall see... The body with the hood scoop. More to come...
  24. This is my 2010 Ford Shelby GT500. It is painted with Model Master Royal Blue Pearl with a Model Master Fabric Gray interior. This is a top stripe delete car.
  25. Thanks John! The Story The following day, McNally drive Tracy to Logan Airport so she can catch her flight back to Las Vegas. They say their goodbyes at the TSA checkpoint with a vague promise of keeping in touch with each other. They hug and then Tracy kisses McNally on the cheek and says into his ear, "I love you", and then hurries away to board her flight. He walks over to the window to watch as her plane is pushed away from the terminal and over to the runway and takes off into the clear blue sky. All this time, her words are still ringing in his ears, "I love you". McNally arrives home and parks the Shelby in front of the garage, goes inside and sits down on a stool in front of his work bench, removes his cell phone and turns it off. A short while later, Caitlyn parks her Mustang GT in front of McNally's home and walks up the driveway and sees the garage door open and she goes over to it. She sees McNally sitting at the bench and softly calls out his name. He turns around and sees her standing in the doorway and motions for her to come in. "Are you OK" she asks and he replies that he is fine. McNally looks into Caitlyn's eyes and says, "Caitlyn, I love you", to which see replies, "I love you too, McNally." McNally, Boston PI will return... The Build I have finished my '10 Shelby GT500 and it is posted in Under Glass. I would like to thank all those who have taken the time to view and to comment on my WIP.
