This is my Lindberg '64 Belvedere inspired by the '64 Plymouth Fury that was featured on the TV show, Overhaulin'. It is painted with Tamiya TS-45 Pearl White over Tamiya TS-75 Champagne Gold, Pegasus 19" and 23" Hellas wheels and tires and a lowered front suspension.

I got most of the suspension pieces painted in semi gloss black. The mufflers and tailpipes have been installed onto the chassis. The rotors have been painted with steel metalizer and the calipers will be painted red. One little item I forgot to add to the engine block was the oil filter and filter mount. more to come... -
Nice and shiny Mustang! Great job, Jim!

Thanks guys! I purchased my can of Hemi Orange from Summit Racing. If you want accurate engine paint, you've got to get the original stuff. This 12 oz. can is going to last me for a very long time. That means a lot of scale Mopar Hemis, big blocks, and a few small blocks. -

I masked and painted the roof Saturday with Tamiya TS-45 Pearl White and this morning I remasked and painted the body with Tamiya TS-75 Champagne Gold. More to come... -
That camera will be fine for taking pictures of models. Just be sure it has a macro setting for taking closeup pictures. 16 Megapixels will capture a lot of closeup detail so be sure your work is nice and clean and well lit.

Anybody have this problem?

It's best to set this project aside until you can come up with a viable solution to your issues and work on something else instead. -
Thanks guys and thank you Charlie for the nice comments!

1964 Plymouth Belvedere Overhaulin' Style Is Completed

Thanks Carl! Here's a little progress... I got the body and hood washed and dried and into a coat of Krylon White Primer. The 426 Wedge got a coat of Street Hemi Orange. I wanted to see some of the TS-75 Champagne Gold on a few parts to see what the color actually looked like. It's a bit darker than the cap color, but I really like it. Should look good with the TS-45 Pearl White on the roof! More to come... -

Thanks guys for the support! First, the car in the episode of Overhaulin' was a '64 Fury, not a Belvedere. I am using the Lindberg '64 Belvedere to build my version of that car. Second, no Hemi or 225 for this car, just a Commando 426 Wedge. Tonight I assembled the Commando 426 Wedge engine and drilled the plug holes. Tomorrow, I'll paint the Wedge with Street Hemi Orange Engine Enamel. I filed the sides of the hood since it was a tight fit and paint would have made the fit even tighter. The only mold lines I have been able to find are near the tops of the "A" pillars and a little filing and sanding should take care of those. More to come... -
Thank you guys for the nice comments! After posting the pictures of the GTX, I noticed the sloppy job I did on the rear panel, so I removed the panel, cleaned up the slop and re-installed the panel. I got the wheels to fit by drilling out the wheel mount until the wheel fit over the axle stubs. I had to trim the flange on the brake rotors so the wheel would fit as close to the suspension as possible. I primered the body with Krylon white primer and then painted the body with Testors Fiery Orange One Coat Lacquer. I used no base color. The Fiery Orange is a very metallic color with lots of pigment. I didn't like this paint when I first bought it several years ago and after talking with other builders who have had issues with this paint like I had, I decided to change way I sprayed by using more mist coats and gradually built up the color. I didn't use any gloss coat, but I did give the paint a light polishing with Meguiar's Scratch X 2.0.

Thank you guys! My '67 Hemi GTX is done and posted in Under Glass. I actually enjoyed building this Mopar! This Revell kit was a joy to build and everything just went together like it should. I would like to thank all those who took the time to view and to comment on my WIP.

I had heard that he was having some difficulties and I was shocked to read this morning on FB that he had shut down. If this is the end of Scale Dreams under his ownership, I hope he has the intention of selling it to someone who would be able to continue the great service and products that were offered by him. This is such a loss for us...

Here's a little progress... For those of you who are not familiar with what I am trying to accomplish, here's a picture of the '64 Fury. I thought I had another can of the Pure White, but I don't. I stopped at my LHS and was going to pick up another can, but changed my mind when I saw the TS-45 Pearl White paint. The Pearl White is not as bright or stark as the Pure White and blends with the TS-75 Champagne Gold better. I started cleaning up the body tonight. Very, very little flash or mold lines! I'll get it washed, primered, and ready for paint! More to come... -
Thanks Erik and Dave! With some luck and a little time, I might be able to finish the GTX tomorrow.

As a fan of Overhaulin', I look forward to the wonderful builds on each episode. The recent episode featuring a '64 Fury inspired me to build the Lindberg '64 Belvedere similar to that Fury. My paint will be Tamiya TS-26 Pure White for the roof and Tamiya TS-75 Champagne Gold for the main body. The wheels used for the Fury are Foose one-offs and Pegasus has a set of Chrome Hellas that look close so I got a set of 19" and 23" Hellas for this build along with disc brakes to match. Since I have this particular episode on my HD DVR, I have my reference material close at hand. More to come...

Save for some touchups and decals, the Hemi is done. More to come...

Thanks Dan! I finished the interior this morning. I mounted the tach on top of the dash instead of on the console. This was a simple little detail that I made by adding a line from the back of the tach and ran it through the speaker grille. Now it's back to finishing the Hemi! More to come...

I got the dash foiled and detailed this morning. A mockup with the chassis, engine, and interior. I still haven't finished the Hemi yet. I'll get back to the Hemi when I have finished the interior which needs the seats foiled, the tach detailed and installed on the console, and the bucket seats installed into the interior. More to come...

Thanks Eric, Carl, and Bob! Now that my Hurst/Olds is done, I can get back to the GTX.
