Jonathon, is this the look you are going for? I built this one last year as part of my McNally storyline build project. This kit can be built stock by getting rid of the bling wheels and stereo equipment. I even added a trunk floor with luggage. I am quite sure the same can be accomplished with the Revell "Uptown" 300C kit as well. I'm looking forward to seeing more of this build.

Darrick, I could never have that many projects going at once. It seems that the older I get, the more confused I could become! Skip, I keep it at two projects and that's that! When one is drying, I can work on the other. If I don't want to work on one, the other is there to be worked on. I just wish I had more time during the week to build.

Me too! I love shiny (and I do mean SHINY) paint!

Thanks Brandon! I got the engine into the chassis this morning. And, the chassis is up on four wheels. Foiling has begun. The windshield frame is complete for starters. More to come...

A quiet Saturday morning with the wife still in bed gave me the time I needed to get the stripe decals on. I'll let these dry for a day and then clearcoat the body tomorrow. After looking at my completed '06 and up Mustang builds on the shelf, I have decided to change the design of the airbox to something a little more stock looking. Since I still have my sheet of styrene still on the bench, I'll make a new one that is better looking than the one that I have now. More to come...

Thanks for the encouragement guys! I generally have no more than two projects on the bench at any given time. When I finish another build, this one is coming back up onto the bench. Darrick! Long time my friend! I had been wondering what became of you. Happy Holidays to you and yours!

Well, it has been over three months since I have last looked at this build which I had packed away when I started to lose interest in it. I have been thinking about it this past week and I am considering pulling it back out and completing it when I finish either my '64 GTO or '07 Shebly GT500. It is usually not like me to put away a project or to lose interest in one. At least I still have it and maybe I am regaining interest in it again.

Brad, I really like your backstory and you are off to a great start with it! I look forward to the next chapter of this piece of the Great American Novel! And your build, too!

Brad, you are quite welcome! I look forward to your backstory. I have enjoyed creating the McNally stories and I am planning on another story for an upcoming project. Actually, I have two stories. One involving a Viper SRT-10 and the other, a 1959 Cadillac Eldorado Seville Hardtop.

I feel like the odd man out here having very little time for my Shelby. Or anything else for that matter! The hood is out of the purple pond and ready for primer and paint. Several coats of Tamiya Bright Red and the hood is looking great! I wanted a simple way to paint the trim around the windows. I started with a piece of 3M Painters Tape and pressed it into the channel with my thumb nail. Using a scribing tool I pushed the tape further into the channel and then cut the tape with a new blade in my hobby knife. The end result...a clean masking and paint job! More to come...

Cliffo, I just worked a 62 hour week and I just don't understand how I made it through! I am physically and emotionally exhausted and I just couldn't wait to get to the bench yesterday mornig and again today. I have a few outdoor projects to do today, which will be quick and easy and then I'll be back at the bench later to continue work on the Shelby and my '64 GTO. After a 62 hour week at work, I was able to sit down at the bench and work on the GTO I got the front grille and rear panel and the valve covers rechromed with Alclad II Chrome paint. I have completed the interior. The engine is nearly done and will be installed into the chassis soon. More to come...

To me, Pontiacs are OK. I really like Fords, but not as much as I do love my Mopars! This morning I was able to sit down and paint the body and hood with Tamiya TS-58 Light Blue Pearl which really brought out the blue that I was looking for. This color is not correct for this car, but is close enough for me. The hood. The body. While this dries, I'll move on to the interior and engine. More to come...

Thanks guys! But, it is not the stripping and repainting that gets me down...that's just disappointing. It's the lack of time available to me to do anything besides work my job and around the house...that is just frustrating me to no end! With winter just around the corner, and all other projects near complete, I hope to have more time for building.

Once again, my painting prowess (or lack thereof) has struck again. I wetsanded a flaw on the hood down and then repainted with one light coat which ran down to the edge of the hood and bubbled up while drying. And now, the hood is in the purple pond taking a bath. I was hoping to have completed this one by now for the next Classic Plastic Model Club meeting, but fatigue and the lack of time to work on this build is starting to frustrate me. At work, my boss is finally starting to get the idea that our current set-up and schedule is not working and change is in the wind. It had better land on earth sooner than later! More to come...

I got the hood out of the purple pond this morning and gave it a good scrubbing with Dawn and warm water. A little light sanding and some paint is next. I started up the paintbooth and gave the front grille and bumper, rear bumper, and valve covers a good coating of gloss black enamel in preparation for Alclad II Chrome paint. I am not happy with the color I have chosen. When just painted, the paint has a good shade of blue to it, but when it dries...it is more silver than blue. I decided to experiment with Tamiya TS-58 Pearl Light Blue over the Model Master Silver Blue Metallic to see what it would look like. I think I am going to paint the body and hood this color over the Silver Blue Metallic. The Tamiya paint is on the right side of the interior bucket bottom. More to come...

Miami Vice Daytona Spyder - built one?
mrmike replied to Jantrix's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I had built one back when they first came out and rebuilt it a few years ago. The body is not 100% correct with the covered headlight. The actual Miami Vice Daytona Spyder had smoke plexiglass covers over the headlights as well as the Covette windshield frame. -
No, I did mean 2009! I used a 2009 Bullitt Mustang as reference and built my model accordingly. There really is no difference between the two model years and Ford did produce a 2009 Bullitt Mustang, although it didn't have any publicity and was also produced in much smaller numbers than the 2008. I believe the '09 was just an extension of the '08, just being built into the '09 model year.
-
After seeing all these Bullitt Mustangs, I thought I would post a couple pictures of the Bullitt Mustangs that I have built. The first is one I made from the 2006 Mustang GT kit as the version that Ford should have built, looking more like a '68 Mustang GT. This is the 2009 Bullitt Mustang built box stock as Ford built it except for changing the tires. A picture of both.

I got the chassis, exhaust, and front suspension painted, but the front suspension needs another coat. The front and rear bumpers and the valve covers are out of the purple pond and will get a coat of gloss black enamel when dry and then a coat of Alclad II Chrome paint.. I had noticed a speck of dirt on the hood and when I tried to lightly flick it off, my dog came up and nudged my arm and I gouged the hood with my fingernail. Into the purple pond it went! More to come...

I am also concerned about the clear as well. I can apply several mist coats until I am happy with the coverage and then polish the clear afterwards. But, I can be flexible with my processes and will use whatever works best for me at any given moment. I kept thinking that I was having bleed-through problems while I was painting until I realized that I was wearing a bright red sweatshirt and the color was reflecting off the freshly painted body. It's painted! I didn't like the looks of the chrome as it appeared to have faded. These will be taking a bath in the purple pond, painted gloss black, and then coated with Alclad II Chrome Paint. More to come...
