My newest project, Revell's Challenger SRT8. The paint I am using will be Tamiya Light Metallic Blue TS-54 which seems close to the B5 Blue Pearl that Dodge uses today. I do not like the carbon fiber hood stripe that is used on this car. I am considering turning this into an R/T since I do really like the Defender stripes that where included with the AMT Challenger R/T. While removing the nose from the parts sprue, I nicked the side to the nose and had to fill it in with some Bondo. I decided to pin the mirrors to the body so I drilled some holes in the mirrors and the mounting pads and inserted some short pieces of round styrene rod into the mirrors. This should provide a strong mount for the mirrors. I test fitted the hood and found that it sticks up in the back by the cowl. I elongated the slots in the cowl slightly and sanded the front of the underside of the hood and now it fits flush. More to come.....

The interior, body, and chassis are now one unit. I have installed the heater hoses and the grille/valance panel. Since this 'Cuda is the "little sister" to my Hemi 'Cuda, I figured she would need a little bling. I added a chrome strip around the grille. Something like a necklace! More ot come.....

Some progress to report! I got the body cleared with 3 coats of Tamiya TS-13 Gloss Clear after some detailing. The interior has been completed and the tires have been lettered and mounted to the wheels and wheelbacks. I did a quick mockup to check the fitment and thae stance. So far, so good! More to come.....

Thanks Bill and I definitely agree with you! I know I would buy several (or more) kits!

Thanks Brian and John!

Thanks Eric and Brian! Yes, it is RED!!!!! Red happens to be one of my favorite colors.

Thank you everyone! I appreciate the kind words! This is my first resin kit and i'm sure it won't be my last. I am considering the '70 Charger R/T from Modelhaus. We shall see.

Thanks Dave and Tom! This one is shaping up quite well. I still have lots to do on it.

While polishing the body, the rear valance fell off. I solved that by adding two pieces of round styrene rod to the ends of the valance panel and gluing the rod to the inside of the rear fender. I now have a strong bond on the rear valance panel. The 340 motor has been installed into the chassis. I had to trim the motor mounts to get the 340 as low in the chassis as possible. More to come.....

Thanks guys! I don't know if I'll be bringing it to any shows just yet. I usually just attend shows and leave my models at home. I may wait until later in the year.

My '66 Barracuda is now done and posted in the Under Glass section. Thank you everyone for your comments!

This is my '66 Barracuda from MCW. It is painted with Tamiya TS-8 Italian Red. The chassis is from the AMT '69 Barracuda with tires from the AMT '71 Charger R/T kit. Many pieces where swapped with the chrome plated parts from the Hemi Under Glass kit.

This is so true! It would be great if Revell or Round 2 would release a new tool full detail kit of a Barracuda Formula S. I have spent many hours searching the web looking for a "Commando 273" air cleaner picture so I can make a decal for my Barracuda. I finally found one this afternoon. It's not perfect, but it'll do.

Thank you Don and Sean! Don, I got my Barracuda kit from Model Car World. The kit goes for $37.00 and includes the body, hood, complete interior, tires and wheel covers, wheel backs, and vaccuum formed glass. http://mcwautomotivefinishes.com/ I have made some progress! I got the chassis, interior, and body together. I decided against the kit tires in favor of the tires from the AMT '71 Charger R/T kit. The wheel covers fit is snug and leaves the inner ridge of the tire exposed so I use a silver Sharpie on the ridge and now the ridge looks to be a part of the wheel cover. More to come.....

POSTING PICTURES GETTING FRUSTRATED
mrmike replied to mustangman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
While I don't use Fotki, I do use Photobucket. I copy the code using [ img] and [ /img] before and after. I paste the code to my reply and the picture appears on the page. Are you using your Fotki account to post pics from or are you trying to post them directly from you PC? -
I hope we're done now!!

I was all geared up for the storm to attack the Northeast and all I got was a dusting of snow here in New Hampshire. We were joking about Washington, DC getting hit hard with snow for all of the bad stuff they have been giving the rest us over the years! It appears that some of that has spilled over onto you. Sorry! -
Yes Casey, I did cement the rear valance panel to the body before painting and you are correct, there is very little area to join the panel to the lower rear fenders. It just takes a little bit of patience and some strong glue!
-
I got the body painted yesterday! Have a look. I needed to find a set of rear shocks for my 'Cuda since this has never had included any. The shocks came from the '69 Charger Daytona kit and where cut down to fit the chassis. Chassis assembly is complete and awaiting motor installation. More to come.....

Thanks guys! Brian, I never really like the black out treatment on the headlights on the new Mustangs so I usually leave it off when I build one. So far, most of my Mustangs have been built without the flat black.
-
Thanks for the tip Jon. I am usually pretty lucky at getting all 4 wheels to sit on the ground, but I will keep this tip in mind when I do get to installing the wheels and tires.

I needed to make some additions to the '69 Barracuda chassis that I am using for my '66 Barracuda. I cut out 8 styrene wedges and glued them together to make 4 axle supports for the chassis. I then cut out 2 strips of styrene and glued them to the wheel wells of the chassis to give the body support at the front and to cover up the openings between the chassis and body. More to come.....

I have completed the 340 motor, or at least I think I have! I am considering adding a few more details. For some reason I am having trouble getting the lower fenders smooth, but I'll keep working at it! More to come.....

Thanks guys! The WW tutorial was done last year and posted in the Tips section. Having the template allows one to make whitewalls on any size tire (except 1:1, of course) quickly and easily and even though I haven't tried it myself, using the next size circle, you could possbily make wider white walls.
-
Christian, here's a tutorial on how to make whitewall tires. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=25445&st=0&p=237152&fromsearch=1&#entry237152 I realize that you live in England and that the stores I have listed in my tutorial are not available there, so check out any craft stores or office supply stores for templates and pens.

Bradley, I had the same idea a couple of years ago and built one based on a '66 Belvedere II I saw at the gas station one afternoon. I even made my own bench seat using the kit's bucket seats. I just checked and there is a resin bench seat for the Belvedere on eBay right now if you are interested. http://cgi.ebay.com/New-Resin-67-Plymouth-Belvedere-Bench-Seat_W0QQitemZ120525080975QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item1c0fdac98f I look forward to your progress!
