Force, I appreciate the information you have passed on, but this is my build. I am free to build it my way. Ford has named their Fairlane the Sports Coupe. Mine is the Sport Coupe and while it is not 100% correct, it is still my build and I would like it very much if you wouldn't tell me how to build or name my model.
-
To me, this is a Sport Coupe and to look at the two cars side by side, it is a little difficult to tell the difference. I went and changed the thread title a couple of times and now I am going to leave it as "Sport Coupe". This is what I believe and desire to have this kit built as.

The Magnum 500s were both argent or black.

No. It only comes with a 427 big block engine. It seems that at one time there was a problem with the windshield fitment. I have not encountered that issue in any of these kits that I have built.
-
Thanks guys! I built one over twenty years ago as a street/drag car. I never had an issue with the windshield at all. The windshield was a perfect fit for me.

This afternoon, I was looking around Facebook and I saw a name I haven't seen in a long while. His name is Erik. I investigated the name and it was the friend I had lost contact with many years ago. I had bought this kit off of him years ago and he was going to build it as a 289 CI powered Sport Coupe. His plan was to paint it Wimbleton White with a red interior and I liked the plan. But, I made a few changes to that plan. Instead of steel wheels and hubcaps, I'm going with a set of Ford Styled Steel Wheels and whitewall tires. I filled the cutouts for the drag slicks on the rear fenders. I will use a dual exhaust system from the AMT '62 Thunderbird. Let's see what I can do with this kit... More Fairlane to come...

Thanks for the tip! I have heard of that trick some time ago. I prefer to paint my interiors with Semi Gloss paints and paint over the floors with flat black. If I use embossing powder for carpet, I use clear or black embossing powder (depending upon what color interior I want) and paint over it with flat black paint. This Rustoleum Semi Gloss Black paint is a tad bit glossy. This Boss 302 was originally for the Classic Plastic Model Club Exhibition 'Club Challenge' and I shelved it in favor of another model. I am building it now to get it off the bench.

One of the things that I hate doing on model cars is painting Magnum 500 wheels since I usually make a mess out of them. Using my magnifier and a steady hand, the wheels were painted, decaled and installed on the chassis. While I was doing this, the engine popped out of the chassis and I had to reinstall it. More Boss 302 to come...

Thanks Tom! My next work on the Boss 302 is to paint the Magnum 500 wheels. Something I hate doing, getting into those small slots. I have to get out my magnifier, so I can try to do a decent job on them.

The word of the day is decals! Decals for the dash, gauges, interior and air cleaner. More Boss 302 to come...

Looking good! I like that color!

At Classic Plastic Model Club, we are having a "Day 2" class at our Exhibition on October 4, 2020. But, what is a Day 2 car? We define it as a car that has simple, primarily bolt-on modifications such as new wheels, air cleaner, mufflers, chrome exhaust tips and steering wheel, badges removed, 8-track installed, seat covers, etc. But, there a group of people who say that they can change motors and transmissions, add custom paint and rear ends in a weekend. If they think they can do it and have a driveable car on Monday, more power to them! I have seen some models that some say are Day 2, but they have tubbed rear, pro-street stances, huge hoods and scoops and huge induction systems. Theses types of mods are not what we would classify as Day 2. I can foresee some models being moved from the Day 2 class to a more appropriate class because they just don't fit the rules. My question to you folks is, do you agree or disagree with our definition?

I needed to add another coat of Tamiya TS-54 Light Metallic Blue to the hood, front and rear valance panels to match the body, but I had run out of paint. A trip to the local hobby shop got me another can of paint. The body has been touched up in prep for clearcoating with Tamiya TS-13 Gloss Clear. More Charger R/T to come...

The Mustang Boss 302 is coming along! The interior is partially done and the chassis has been completed. I mocked the wheels and tires after I had attached the tires to a 1/2 socket and ran it with my cordless drill and a sanding stick to rough up the tire surface. The Boss 302 is in the chassis and mostly complete. The instructions didn't call for it, but it is in the kit, so I added the Shelby roll bar to the interior. More Boss 302 to come...

Thank you Carl!

My research included pictures of a Boss 302 engine with painted valve covers, so that's where I went with it. Now I see pictures of Boss 302 engines with chrome valve covers. Oh well... I appreciate you following along, Bill! Feel free to research the particular year Mustang that you are building for additional details.

Thanks Bill! My '65 Hemi Satellite is done and it is posted in Under Glass.

I like it! Looks great!

The extra chrome valve covers in the kit don't look anything like those.
-
Thanks Rex! There are chrome valve covers in the kit, but I think those go to the 428 big block that is also in the kit. Don't forget that this kit is shared with the '69 Mach I Cobra Jet kit as well.

I'm back on the '69 Boss 302. Instead of using the kit distrutor, I dug through my parts box and found another distributor and drilled it out. I cut 4 light blue wires at 4 inches and inserted them into the distributor and let it dry overnight. This morning, I routed the wires to their appropriate holes. In the process of wiring the engine, I destroyed the fan and belt assembly, so I went back into the parts box and found another fan and belt assembly. Now I can paint the transmission and touchup the engine. I found two sinkmarks in the mufflers on the exhaust system. I filled those with Bondo Glazing and Spot Putty. More Boss 302 to come...
