Very nice build. I've just started my own custom 49, hope mine turns out as good as yours

Hello again people. So this will be my latest project to add to a list of many that are unfinished. I've decided to give the 49 a rebuild after it got knocked around during the move from one side of the country to the other. Anyway, the plan is to graft on the peaked headlights and taillights from a 55 Chevy as a start plus I have a few traditional mods to add also. A roof swap could be possible but Ill see how adventurous I'm feeling after the front an rear mods first. Here are a couple of pics of what I'm starting with.

Looks nice. Well done

Thanks guys. DJ, it was going to be that shade of red the minute I bought the kit. I remember a lot of old rods from when i was a kid in the 80s being painted that colour. It contrasts so well with the chrome work.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I do have some build progress shots but unfortunately they're on my camera and I'm using my phone at the moment.

Thanks for the kind words guys.....yes, it is the old multi piece body. far from being a great kit but still a good subject to work with.

Well, after finally finishing up my H61 Cherrypicker I swore to myself I wasn't going to scratchbuild another truck again.....that lasted a week until I started on this one. I had some sales brochures and spec sheets from the Mack museum so that plus boredom and some evergreen sheets floating around was all i needed to get started. I still have a lot of work left to do but progress is happening pretty quickly with this one. Apart from the wheels, tyres,engine/gearbox and diesel tanks everything has been made by myself. The bullnose hood will open once I make up some little hinges,as will the doors. Colour will be the same emerald green as my H61. Here are a few pics of where I'm at with it now.

A resin conversion using an AMT Titan as the donor kit although I ended scratchbuilding the chassis rails because the body didn't sit right over the front wheels. Was a pretty quick and easy build and was based on an old Diamond still doing daily work around Perth. Hope you guys enjoy it.

I know all to well how rare these old trucks are haha. It was very hard to find accurate info to build a life like model. I ended up contacting the Mack museum who sent me a stack of sales brochures and spec sheets which meant I could also scratchbuild the chassis and suspension components. The finished result was well worth the research I did though

I started with a monogram kit and built it using the Matranga Merc as inspiration for the side glass profile. The roof is of course chopped and laid back in the rear. I scratch built a 39 Zephyr dash panel for the interior . The headlights have been moved to the outer fenders just because I've never seen it done on a 37 Ford before. The tailights are sunken 59 Caddy bullets and a 49 Ford rear bumper. The engine is a Flathead. Hope you like. Comments welcome good or bad
