Freightliner FLC Finished!
codie27 replied to freightshaker's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Very nice build. I really like these Freightliners, I'm hoping to get a hold of one and build it like the one from Terminator 2 that was carrying the trailer full of liquid nitrogen. Great work!! -
Would there be any interest in a tractor trailer community build?
codie27 replied to highway's topic in Community Builds
Highway, Sounds like a great idea to me after you decided to let Aussie builders join in too. I have a kit set aside that would be perfect for this and as I was planning to build it to Aus specs anyway, building it this way would be fun. With your start date I can now take some extra time researching it and finding the right aftermarket parts to make it come together and fit with the build guidelines. I'll definately be interested in this!!! Keep me updated, thanks,Codie -
Great work so far, this is looking to be an awesome car. Looking forward to seeing it finished.

adding extra details
codie27 replied to codie27's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Thanks a lot Jim,they will be a great help. I also google searched air brake diagrams and came up with a couple more helpful ones. If anybody else is looking now let me know and I will also post a link for them. Cheers,Codie. -
Hi guys I was wondering if anybody here has some tips or pics on adding airlines and pluming for airbrakes? I have never tried to yet and wanna go that extra mile on my current project. Any pics and help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Codie

Hey guys, I remember going to Motorvation one year to drool over this thing after following its build up in magazines. Since seeing Lombardo's Allison Special on the workbench I was reminded of the Chev once again. It was built here in Australia by Rod Hadfield to prove that with the right engineering and execution a 3000hp car could get full registration, the build took 5 years full time work and if I remember right most of the work was done by one of Rods employees. It had a heap of innovative ideas I cant think of them all but some where the cooling system being incorporated into the roll cage, it had its own hydraulic jacking system set into the chassis, the body was completely removable and could still be driven without it. The paint job was based on a P-51 Mustang 'blue nose' fighter plane and had something like 3000 airbrushed rivets over the body. Anyway I dont know if anybody here has ever seen it so I thought it might give somebody some idea for a wild build. It would be way beyond my capabilities at the moment!! Enjoy and I hope it gives you guys some ideas.

Two questions
codie27 replied to Madd Trucker's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Chucky, does that mean that no v8s are used in trucks? Am I right to assume trucks produced with v8s before the passing of emissions laws are still in service or does the regulations prohibit their use for service also? So does that mean that only 6 cylinder Scanias were sold over there? -
A first for me...

Two questions
codie27 replied to Madd Trucker's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Hey Jim, there is a link to a Scania here,My link. The one in the pic on this thread has an extended bunk which I have never seen. They normally have a short bunk. Italeri also sell it in kit form as an Australian version, supposed to be a good kit from what I have heard. I thought that the U.S had really strict emission laws and that that would mean the Swedish trucks would pass all requirements as they have a reputation of being clean running trucks. -
Very nice, I like the weathering and the over all finish. I was following the build in the work bench section, some nice little touches. Thanks for sharing.

Ahhhhh Buicks, love 'em!! That roof swap is a great idea, so much better than the factory roof. I'll be watchin this one to see it finished. -

Alyn, I dont know how I have managed to miss this until now. That is going to be one awesome model, the amount of work you have put into this is amazing, you have a great eye for detail. Those rust spots really add to the charm of the car and I can understand how you say its easy to go too far once you get some nice weathering, you've managed to get it just right. Really dig your pics showing how things were done and you explain your steps clearly, by which Im trying to say I learnt something by reading how you have done things. There are a number of your tips and tricks I want to try myself. Thanks for sharing, looking forward to seeing it finished.
