  1. Huey Lewis said it was hip to be square, what would he have to say about this? Well I dont know, but I do know I think it is awesome, great work. Is that somthing you have dreamt up or is it based on a 1:1 ? Thanks for sharing.
  2. Thanks a bunch for your replies on this one guys, I should be able to ask the guys at my regular hobby shop to try and locate one now that I have something to go on. Mike, thanks for teasing me with that dozer on ebay,LOL. That would be ideal. Highway, the later release Cat D8 you mentioned could probably be found easily enough too and with a bit of work could be corrected with a bit of time and patience. Thanks again. Codie
  3. Hey Derrick, are you still a member here? I saw this a while back and its been stuck in my mind ever since and I had to come and have another look tonight!! The amount of detail and work that has been put in is just mind boggling!!! Are there any new pics of this finished?
  4. WOW!!! Obsess much? LOL. Just jokin, the detail work you are putting into this one is a whole other level. I have no idea how you would go about making the windows roll up and down that sort of thing blows me away. This is one build I will definately be looking forward to more updates of!!! Great workmanship, thanks for sharing.
  5. That guy has some serious talent and creativity. His portrait of Hank Williams was just awesome.
  6. The first model I ever built was a Western Star truck when I was 11 or 12. I put it on lay-buy one day after school with my 5 bucks weekly pocket money and it felt like it took forever to pay it off, although my Grandy helped with his 10 bucks 'lolly money' as he called it, slipped into his fortnightly letters to me. Every little bit of money went on it til I was able to pick it up after school one Friday. I remember being so excited about having a whole weekend to build it then getting it home, opening the box and then my heart sinking after seeing all those parts and thinking to myself that it would take more than a month to put all those together! Luckily my dad saw this and although he thought the same way he offered to help me put it together. Patience was NOT Dads forte, so with supaglue and some spray cans in hand away we went and had it finished that Sunday afternoon!! Even though Dad helped, I still managed to build most of it myself. Picuture smeared paint, fingerprints and foggy supaglue marks all over it and one proud and happy me sitting back admiring the best looking truck ever made. :)
  7. Welcome, and what a way to start!! That is some cool looking machine in the 1:1 pics and it looks like your build is going the same way, great work and I'll be right here with everyone else watching this one come together.
  8. Hey guys , I have seen some really nice bulldozer and tank builds recently and really want to get one to put on a low loader trailer behind one of my trucks. The only problem is that I cant find any so I was wondering if any of you guys can name some of the companies that make dozers or tanks in 1/24 or 1/25 scale. I have looked on ebay but cant find any at the moment from Australian sellers and as I dont like pay pal it limits what I can get. Any help or suggestions will be appreciated, thanks, Codie.
  9. Nice. That paint should have some serious sparkle to it under the sun.
  10. I am glad to be among so many like minded creatures of the dark!! Once the kids are in bed for the night and I can pull out whatever I'm working on its quite the norm to be quietly working away on it until the early hours of the new day!! In fact I dont think I have had one of those nights for a while now and tonight would be a good night for spending some time building instead of going cross eyed in front of this dam computer!!
  11. HMMMM, Interesting comments here guys. Gotta say though once the bug bites harder and harder the amount of builds and kit stashes seem to get a lot bigger. Although Im sure some of you have been building for many years. I am also interested in the different opinions from some guys about raiding finished builds for parts etc. Some of opinions make it sound like sacrilege and others dont seem to be too hesitant. I have gotten to a point now where I am comfortable enough to scratchbuild parts so therefore dont do as much raiding. Lastly my personal opinion of my builds and skill level now compared to when I first started building, has rendered me incapable of being able to go and pull apart a model for parts.
  12. Your making good progress with the old KW and its looking great. Nice work.
  13. I like it, very cool!!
  14. Matthew, you explained that very well and it does sound like it would be fun so I may have to jump in on one these at some point. I have an AMT 49 Ford tucked away at the moment and since I havent seen many built, maybe that qualify for the forgotten kit build? I have seen your Louisville build pics in model trucks and I gotta say its looking really good and coming along nicely. Thanks, Codie.
  15. Hey guys, what exactly is a community build? I dont quite get it and I have seen it mentioned a bit here.
  16. Looking really good so far, that roof chop wouldnt have been an easy task.
  17. WOW!! What an awesome collection of built and boxed kits, and finely built too from what could be seen in the pics. I had no idea there were/are so many NASCAR kits available. Thanks for sharing.
  18. The amount of work going into this is awesome. This is looking to be one cool model. Very nice.
  19. Welcome back, I dont think I have ever seen any of your work so Id like to ask what do you like to build? That way I can keep an eye out for some of your stuff.
  20. Very nice build, I have one of these stashed away, I think Im gonna have to pull it out and get some done on it.
  21. Nice start so far, good car to come back in the hobby with. Should look nice when its done.
  22. Good idea, it seems like thats where most of the trouble was starting anyway. Although there was some interesting stuff in there its probably better off gone.
  23. Wow, what a cool looking car. I have never seen or heard of a Marlin. Should be a nice build. I'll be watching for sure.
  24. Just a quick question for either Gregg or Harry. Is it just something playing up with my computer or has the rant and raves section now been removed?
  25. Hey Ray, Thanks for sharing some of your builds, I like them all, I think the Autocar would be my favourite though. I have got quite a lot out of this thread as I finally made some progress on the old Diamond the other night. I was going to use the Chevy Titan chassis but had so many head aches with how the cab was sitting on it, that I took off the steering and rear axles and made my own frame rails and finally it is sitting right. Now I just need to add some bolt head detail to the chassis and am seriously considering adding plumbing detail also. Should turn out really nice and I'll be posting some pics once I get my camera back again. Cheers.
