First color on today
-
All go on painting weather today then I thought (stoopid idea I know), I'd try something a little harder opps bit dark . Hows this one? really cheap double action no brand, I gotta get me a decent one now
-
Chris ,I really liked 2 myself but after cutting it down a little wing 3 was def the one to use. Colors picked , twill be Blue and white stock style
-
Jerred, is that a good wow ? Thanks for looking in. Well mocked up a couple of different wings 1 2 3 I'm leaning towards 2 but will shave a couple mm of the height of 3 either way the spare one will go on the T Bird
-
Thanks for your opinion Richard. Just looking at different options for the rear wing at the moment. I have a few spare sets of spill plates so may modify a set to fit properly and scratch up something else. Out of interest, what is it you dont like about the first set ? (the camaros' by the way). I dont have a spare jukebox I'm afraid , thats the elusive one for me. My original broke after too many moves but the decals were pretty shot anyway so its in a box with a friends car in mind (same vic but with blown alcohol hemi in it) almost same color even. I have spare Carpenter cars and the repops a softseal 57 and a christene but keep missing on the ford.

calling it a night now

as you can see 90% of the filler (bog) is gone, just a couple of low spots to fill
-
Chris, I have no idea what look I'm going for I just hack em and wack em. If its going on a ready made chassis, its made to fit it and everything else is worked around from there. Shocking aye lol Oh and thanks guys, your input is always welcome, cheers Brett

Thanks guys, appreciate it. Steve no not intentionally but I've never been known for straight cuts lol. Though it did work out rather nicely . I am toying with the idea of a slight wedge along the sides to drop the sills to parallel with the ground, was also considering chopping about 3/8ths out of the length of the roof behind the b pillars and moving the forward part back to meet it. Any thought on that anyone? IMO it looks too long as is, would look worse as a coupe so shortening just the roof above the qtr dip would proportion it out a little better. look forward to any helpful input, cheers Brett

For what you are making this from, thats really Impressive work Rommel. A huge undertaking with the proper tools at hand makes this all the more impressive in my book.- 245 replies

yeah I'm at it again weathers been to ###### to do any priming or painting so I decided to hack up another one. Reasonably simple one again and one I just happened to have a few spare bodies of............ the Revell 55 chevy pro sportsman. Now on its way to becoming a pro stalgia funny car.
-
awesome work again Darryl,( not that you ever deliver anything less)
-
this was my bench on saturday got it cleaned up a bit now with 2 finished and one( used the chassis for some mockups) put back in the cabinet
-
Thanks guys used Future to seal it today will re prime when it stops raining. Have picked the color/ paint scheme as well but no hints pics till its done sorry, (cause its gonna be hard for me to pull it off)
-
getting closer bit of work on both guard extensions still but not to bad Richard, since I outlawed the wedge with a bubble look lol I went for the long slow sleek look. Bob, I'm using a revell avenger chassis but have moved the motor forward, not going to be overly detailed but the body's supposed to be the main focus here
-
Thanks guys, its done will take some better pics tomorrow
-
Thanks Richard, could be an idea, have got it almost ready except for one problem area theres basically a line that I cant feel but can see where the front of the wedge was inserted and every time it gets primed it shows up, I can sand it back to bare plastic and have reputtied it but as soon as its primed it shows up again. Suggestions on how to remedy this would be greatly appreciated.
-
decided on metallic red with black stripes ( I think lol) got a bit or putty on last night and sanded it back off this morning, found the couple of low spots I was sure it had so have re puttied them up, also built the front spoiler and have done some frame work
-
Todd, no, no name yet. Havent even picked colors yet which is unusual for me. Was leaning towards metallic reds and blues maybe a stars n stripes type thing. Really dont no at this stage. thanks for the suggestions tho

thanks guys much appreciated Micheal, I think you can turn almost anything into a believable funny car, the reason I started with the vette and T-bird first was I had both bodies as spares with no other use for them . Its probably a lot easier to use a two seater as there's less modification to do where the rear seat area is, but each body has its own unique issues to work through. I f you check out my " hacking up some late models" thread further down this page you'll see me doing the same process to the 06 camaro and soon an 09 challenger. I believe Andy "modelmartin" on this forum mastered a studebaker and 59 caddy funnycar so its just being able to visulise what you want and working towards it. Ask if you think something doesn't look right or flow, someone may just be able to help.

Thanks guys grille was cut into three pieces to fit the narrowed front end and the lip was added around the bottom of the body today
-
Thanks Erik. Put a coat of primer on today then a guide coat for sanding, only a few low spots and nearly no high started on the front bumper and will add the lips tomorrow
-
Had to start on the chassis and engine so I could finish the work on the hood wedged the bottom of the body a bit while I was waiting for things to dry got to make up the front spoiler and the rear wing next also got to try and lower the engine profile quite a bit
