Andy, if you want a bracket racer feel/look go for the levers much cheaper option than an airshifter

very cool bro and at your usual high standard -
Well with my last name I'm sure you can tell where I stand on this ,the decals where just another way of showing support, so I'll keep using them anyway . Thanks for the comment tho Glen

Thanks guys, yeah I was thinking only 2 maybe 3 mm nothing more than that for sure,I'll do a glass mockup tomorrow. Sanded paint ,re shaped back wheel arches a little and re primed and installed back bumper with just enough space for the chute between today.

1/16 Scale Army Vega Funny Car - Finished 10/14/2018
brett replied to Mooneyzs's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
really nice work Chris. You do know this build will be the benchmark and reference for all building 16th scale funnies dont you -
Any particular reason you're not using that chassis Andy? I know the fit is pretty good, looks like you've done a good job of cutting the doors out too. As for class a lot depends on the chassis and engine configuration but check out the pump gas shootout cars on YouTube or the psca (pro street car association ) 6 and 7 second race cars that are still street legal or at least close to it. Irlocke, if I remember correctly you just need to shorten the very back of the floorpan (where the batteries are).

That fuel pump came out great ,as is the rest of the build -
Thanks guys,I threw some paint at it, its still a bit rough but I wanted to see any imperfections and get an idea on how the colors going to look. also tried out the front end combos, think I like it best with bumpers and grille just remember this isn't final paint just a paint mockup if you will, thinking of lacing the coves with black over the blue (though I think the blue needs to be lighter) and what is silver now, will be foiled or alcladed. Should I chop the top a little at the front ? at the moment it will fit the stock glass but I think its a little high

"The Tin Box " Bantam Competition Coupe - 8-06 Update
brett replied to Bernard Kron's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Very cool -
Niko, keep an eye out that your frame stays square,I've built a couple of these and know of quite a few more where as the build progress's the frame twists and you end up having a wheel in the air. I think its the steering (front assembly) that does it.

Why Do We Build Models???
brett replied to Romell R's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Cause I can well kinda . I can hold an exacto all night but give me a screwdriver (the tool not the drink ,I can hold those pretty good) or a wrench and after 10 or so minutes my hands are that sore I cant use them for a couple of days (severe arthritis) , so there went working on the real thing. Besides who can boast they've got a couple hundred dragcars/muscle cars at home lol. I can build almost anything that I would have loved to have but never afforded in 1:1 and not have to sell/trade it for the next one. When all my friends parents had new holdens and falcons,or vauxhals or the new wave of Japanese imports we had a hotted up 55 chev . before that we had a 51.Then my older brother started drag racing and well, we were all pretty much hooked. So from the time I was about 12 we were involved in hot rod clubs, racing etc, At high school (some of you older guys might remember AUTO BUFF (the magazine) while my friends were drooling over the (ahem) ladies ,I was drooling over the wild pro street style cars.My other main influence in building was/is my eldest brother, while he has built a lot of hot rod st machine type cars his passion is big rigs, something he is very very good at.His mantra as such is to build it as it would be in 1:1, it has to look real and like it would work, some thing I try (dont always succeed ) to do on most builds. And as to why do I post ? here, there or anywhere 1st is maybe I can inspire someone somehow to build their vision from what I've attempted to do on mine and 2ndly that someone may say, hey if you do this...... this way, this might work out better than how you were going to do it. -
Plans, plans I dont need no steenking plans . Like Earl I think of something and go with it. I too have many photo's on my hard drives as a cool build idea one day (about 400 , and growing). Will they ever get done? Well I have done about 20 of them so far but with new ideas popping into my head or on screen every day......................... When/if I get to something I dont know (then I'll look online, usually) or dont like the kit supplied pieces then I'll start raiding other kits or the parts boxes for what I need, theres some things I've done so often I hardly need to think about what I'm doing unless I'm trying out a new way or new material to do it they're just second nature now. And also having a little mechanical knowledge on how things work alleviates the need to plan some things.

We're having a heat wave...
brett replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Tell me about it Matt, its freaking freezing down here, about 12degrees Celsius and below 0 over night and humidity's always high here (damp hole). -
very cool Rob, I like different, but I likes the look of that charger

thanks guys,Had it in primer a couple of times now checking for high and low spots, think I got them all now. Put the rear valance on after these pics and tidied up the hood hole and have final primed (I hope) Question time, re front end. Do you think solid panels behind the openings ( the surrounds will be made to look chrome-ish)? chop a grille to fit in the grill surround? and bumpers or not?
