  1. Super Kudos on an incredible build. Design and execution is excellent. As we say in Warcraft after an Achievement is accomplished, "Gratz."
  2. Appreciate you checking in Brad. I've found a font that will give me the correct rivet look. Unfortunately, my printer is out of ink and I can't afford replacement cartridges until next week. Also, Wayne has offered to help out once he gets some other priorities squared away. I'll have a solution in about a week, one way or the other.
  3. J A W D R O P !!!!!!!!!!! Totally awesome. Sorry I haven't check in for a while Dave. Been a little Narcissistic (sp) lately. Looks great Buddy.
  4. Darryl, as far as the bead size thing goes, I plan on telling anybody that asks about my use of them on the Topless Terror, that they are a new Hi-Tech fitting that doesn't require tools. Works just like an air house quick change to speed up repairs. I'd buy that if I was me.
  5. Happy to see another update Ira. Glad I checked in on ya'. Good idea on the under side fill and even better on the interior mods so far.
  6. I'm headed in that direction Dave and Darryl. I tried Faber-Castell pens in both small and extra small, but they don't lay down enough ink. Nor does a ball point. I tried a regular fine point felt tip and it just looked fuzzy. I'll try the toothpick method first. Otherwise, I'm off to Aaron Bros art mart. Thanx for the input.
  7. Hi Everybody !!! Remember me? Yeh, it's been a while, but I do have some progress to show. After shooting the body with Metallic Silver I'm starting to add the panel lines. Keeping in mind I am still without an airbrush, what I've done is shoot a decal sheet black, then cut out strips for the panel lines. I have a small clue about the rivets, but the hole punch I have is bigger than I'd like. I'll figure out something. I tried using periods (.........), unfortunately when magnified to the right size, they're square, not round. Here's a couple of pics until I decide how to do the rivets.
  8. Keep it coming Darryl. Lookin' muy bueno so faro.
  9. Chris, as far as refab goes, I'll apply an old bowling addage we used to say. Practice does not make perfect; only perfect practice makes perfect. I'd say your are doing perfect practice.
  10. That is sweet. I'll keep him in mind for future projects for sure.
  11. Thanks Roger. I'm diggin' the tires and the look. I took the weekend off to chill and watch my two favored teams get blown out of the NFL playoff picture. Only one team left I care about. Go 'Niners. No pics today, but wanted to let y'all know I got the inside of the body shot. I'll let that dry overnite and then shoot the first coat of silver metallic. Even though there won't be any detail for a day or so, I'll prolly post pics tomorrow.
  12. Here's something I would like to see fixed. Drag slicks. They are too flimsy, unrealistic and in some cases (I've heard) they dry rot / crack / fail. Would it truly be such a big deal to do them in molded plastic? I'd rather fill a seam and paint them realistically than deal with sanding down a seam on a tire that's constantly eluding my efforts. They could even have an option for a "low pressure, at rest" minor wrinkle on both sides of the bottom. Just like the real thing. That would be my incentive to buy as many kits as my wallet could handle. Wouldn't hurt to kick in decal options for Goodyear, M&H, and others as licensing would allow. Yes, by all means bring them back, but please keep in mind the sector of the hobby being marketed to here. We want the good stuff and understand they won't be cheap. I think bringing in Model King is a great idea.
  13. On February 4th & 5th I will be at The Strip in Las Vegas Motor Speedway with camera in hand. I'll probably fill a 2 Gig memory card and be a thorn in the side of every team that will let me get close to their cars. Thanx Dave & Dave for those nifty factoids. I've learned more on this build than I ever could have imagined.
  14. We're gonna' try this one more time. Also, Dave, it was because I saw you post elsewhere about wrinkle wall slicks being wrong on a car without a driver that I put one in this ride to begin with. So thank you for that. I agree 100%. So, at risk of three different types of damage to the wheels, brakes and rear end, I was lucky enuff to get them apart after firm but gentle twisting and have reversed them. PLEASE tell me it looks right now. Gotta keep all of the Batzilla Fan Club members happy faced.
  15. Thanx Keith. I was going to get some pics off of Google, but you saved me the trouble. That is how mine are rotating.
  16. My research of 1:1 launches show the slicks wrinkled at the front. That's how they were mounted on the wheels and that's how they were installed. And yes, even though I knew I was right, I double checked it just now.
  17. I've used paper and cloth tape in the past. On my latest project, it's 1/8" wide ribbon from WalMart. I've got black, blue and orange. Currently using orange. Makes great seat belt material or trim for upholstering as well.
  18. Glad y'all approve and thanks a whole lot. It's been a battle. Speaking of battles, the tinwork is as good as it's going to get, stance-wise. Made modifications to allow room for breathers, steering link, magneto et al. Also got the humps down where the sheet plastic was laid in between the hood and the trunk. I'll get it shot tomorrow and see how it looks. 'Til then, enjoy and thank you for your support ))))))
  19. The following corrections have been made: Tie rod and steering link replaced using piano wire and the injectors have been properly aligned. Some minor damage occured to the paint on the injector base, but it's just one more thing to touch up. The air scoop is on for reference only due to the fact that it will be painted to match the car with jet skin / panel / rivets with peel away main body color. On to the final tinwork and body prep.
  20. It was mentioned previously that the injectors were going to be corrected "with a hammer and chisel if necessary". On the other hand, I was unhappy from the get go with the steering link and the tie rod. I just didn't mention it. I corrected the injectors this evening. It's actually the engine that's crooked, but it's only visible at it's highest point. I've made a replacement tie rod and will rip out the steering link tomorrow. Pics to follow.
  21. Give me unusual any day of the week. You should see what's running around in my brain pan for when the 1955 Chrysler 300 gets released. Great start to what I'm sure will be an amazing finish Darryl.
  22. Ingenious Bill. Using a box wrench as a guide for the spokes is clever as all get out. By the way, the first link didn't work but the second one did. I just went to your album from there.
  23. Brett & Gordon, and all....Thanx for keeping up. So glad this is getting such a positive response. Like the tag says, the chassis is at 99%. I added the tie rods and steering link today. Just a few more details like wheelie bars and touch up. The headers are only placed on the heads for illustrative purposes. They will be installed once I'm satisfied with how they clear the body and whether I need to cut out the body for clearance. The wheelie bars are next to last because I wanted the back tires on permanently first. I already know the upper bar brace needs modifying due to the brake lines interfering with normal installation. Next comes final fitment of the tinwork which, here again, needs a little more modification to clear the breather tubes. Somewhere in all of that will come the start of body paint. I probably could have started sooner but didn't want to mess around with an after paint mod for header cutouts. Don't touch that dial, err uh, remote, ummm, mouse, whatever.......
  24. Now that yer sloppin on some colour, I'm really gettin jazzed Dave. Really like the colors on the pilot so far. Arms are way cool. Engine's looking good too sir.
  25. I only advance my savviness on a "need to know" basis. If I don't know how to use a device and I NEED to use that device, that's when I need to know. My experience also started in the '80's with a Commodore 64, but I was the hardware geek and my wife was the software guru. Notice the difference? I was a geek and she was a guru. Wassup with that? In all seriousness, I don't go looking for trouble. I wait for the need to arise, then wrestle with it as best I can.
