  1. I loves me some AWB. Great job, good detail on the gauges and so forth. Well done.
  2. Wow, sorry for the prolonged absence. The build isn't stalled, but I am. The throttle and shift linkage for a project like this is pretty complex and I've tried more than a couple of set ups. The main problem has been, "How do I set up 4 cable links to the blower hats?" I think I have it figured out now. Sometimes thinking in 3D is tough during scratchbuilding for me when I'm trying to imagine something that is supposed to take up an empty space. Does that make sense? I hope so. I'm pretty sure I've got it figured out and it may or may not look like it would work when it's done, but it will be in place and hopefully make sense. Thanks for hanging in there group. Be back to you as soon as I can.
  3. I'm on the fence on this one. Hmmmmmmm. The one that's lighter adds contrast that will make that particular detail show up better on the model. On the other tentacle, the darker one looks more realistic. Do what you normally do. Make 12 different ones and then settle for what you were going to do in the first place. You're Welcome. Anytime.
  4. Chris, I'm loving the progress. Looks like you took John's words to heart. Wish I had something to contribute but your painting is out of my league. Carry on sir.
  5. Got my decals in the mail today. BEAUTIFUL !!!!!!!!! Can't wait to finish my current project because this will be next. Might look awesome on the Revell Hawaiian. It's one year newer, but I think it'll work.
  6. Thanks for that John. I'm awaiting a response from one more possibility. If that doesn't pan out, I'll look into Mike's decals.
  7. I have the body. I would move heaven and earth to find the decals for the Stardust.
  8. This took longer than I thought. Probably took longer than you thought too. Here we have pics of the cockpit from the top and bottom. I've modified steering linkage for the shifters and pedals. I still need to lengthen the depth of the shifter links. Even though it's underneath and will never be seen, I still want it to look right. This will all hook up to the bar that runs parallel to the firewall. You'll see. For you Body Work fans, I started to blend the nose. I'll have it in primer next to see where I screwed up. Thanks for looking.........
  9. What a clean, straight up build.
  10. Chris, that is amaaaaaazing. I checked your site for the decals and didn't see them but please let us know if they become available. I copied the link to your site. Hope that's okay. http://www.scalemodelingbychris.com/index.htm
  11. This is a quick "Hello" to let you know that work is still happening. Next update will have pics. I've cut out a recess in the cockpit and am currently fitting the shifters. Gas pedals were a tight fit, but they look right. Next I'll be using line of sight to see where the linkages will go. I learned a long time ago, the more I measure, the more mistakes and redo's there are to correct. I'll be attaching tubing to the front of the cockpit firewall that will be built in sections for the bell cranks that it will all hook up to. Sounds weird, but you'll see shortly what I have in mind. See ya' then.
  12. Brett, this just became my favorite of all of your funny's. Impressive.
  13. Hi Brett. Thanks for checking in. I've been following your builds too. Sorry I haven't commented. Fiatboy, I appreciate the occasional BRAVO. I've gotten a couple of important steps made. Don's notice of the body rake kept kicking around in my mind, so I've made new body hinges that have corrected the problem. I've also started on the cockpit firewall, as opposed to the body firewall. The shelf next to the battery is where the electronics box will sit. The hole on the other side of the battery is where a drive shaft will go. More soon ..........
  14. Very sweet build. I like the wheels especially. However, I'm calling the police because I think it's illegal to have pics of a flopper without accompanying pics of the chassis.
  15. Okay so, checklist. It's a Dodge, it's got slicks, it's got a Hemi. Count me in with the group that loves this build. Excellent.
  16. Thanks again Don. Not sure what you mean by "the chassis sorted". As far as the stance goes, in the progress pictures the front of the body has a downward rake to it. That will be evened out when I put on the firewall. I tend to do all of the chassis work on builds before finishing the body. If that doesn't answer your question, have at me and we'll sort it out together.
  17. Got a few more pics to share. Ignition boxes painted and decaled. Transmissions w/ linkage installed. Battery is in progress. Drive shafts cut to length. Shorty is good, but still need to index the long one. Enjoy.
  18. Awesome Niko. Love the dual distributors. Great detail overall Buddy.
  19. Chris, those are amazing. A shortened 10 lb gets my vote. Waiting with baited breath to see them cleaned up. In the meantime, I'll go gargle with some Listerine to get rid of the Bait breath.
  20. Thanx a lot Don. The theme for this build is: "Yeah, it's got some Hemi's!!!" I should have pics of the trans linkages soon. Spent all day on them. Itty Bitty little cusses.
  21. Good question Brad. The front axle does have something akin to constant velocity joints and is steerable. Later I will install the tie rod, but I have to make a modification due to the thickness of the axle mounts. I understand where the question came from because my U.S. Dart model, a wheelstander, has a pair of steering brakes for the rear axle. As for the paint, nothing too far wild but wait until you see the graphics for the name. Wowza!!!!! Thanx for your interest and the opportunity to show off an old build.
  22. Overdue for an update, so we'll make it a big one. Picture number 1: Fuel and oil tanks, drive shafts minus their middle section, an Optima battery, the electronics box, rear engine mounts (erroneously called them trans mounts earlier), dual gas pedals and starters with wiring. Number 2: 4 Mallory ignition boxes, fuel pump body (it only LOOKS like a drive shaft), nut and bolts for tranny linkage, and the trannys themselves. One is longer because only one needs a reverser. Number 3: Front axle mounts and fuel / oil cell mounting plate. Number 4: Sunken double rail frame section with motor mounts and cross members installed. Want to make a note concerning the presence of a battery with four magnetos. The fuel management system, including the pump, will be electronic. It was either that or four fuel pumps. Thanx for looking and putting up with my delays.
  23. Beautiful model of a great subject. Just one thing. Shouldn't it be displayed with the nose straight up in the air? I jest, of course. Nice job.
  24. Was an Auto Service Writer for 25 years. Last 10 years were as a casino Slot Floorperson. Now disability.
  25. Hey all. Sorry I haven't updated in a while. I've been mostly working on engine / frame fitment issues. Also building lot's of little goodies like an Optima battery, electronics box, tranny's, Mallory Ignition stuff and whatnot. I did receive the blower hats from Competition Resins. They're beauties. I have a contest tomorrow at Hobbytown, so I hope to have some pics by Sunday. Hang in there folks.
