  1. See that little trailer looking do-hickey made from leftover parts? Last picture in post # 11, just above your post.. BBQ grille in the nose, storage in the back. Thanx, Dog. Know where I can pick up some more gumption? I'm running low after starting this. Starting on the frame and interior tub. Lots of room to play with. Might put in a hot tub. KIDDING !!!! But I am open to (inexpensive) ideas.
  2. Here's the aligning, reinforcing pieces installed. The rear side windows will be cut in just behind the front side windows at an angle similar to the front of the front side window. Didja' get that? And, of course, several hours were wasted today on Luis' trailer..........
  3. Outstanding, now I need 10 wheels instead of 8 !! Not to mention the hydraulic ramp. Could you see Jungle firing up the car on the ramp, blip the motor to jump it over the cab into the staging lanes? Naw, too "Dukes of Hazzard." That is soooooo kewl !!
  4. That would be Jungle Jim Liberman. You can see the car build in On The Workbench and the completed model in Drag Racing. If you can't find them, let me know and I'll grab the links. Right now I'm busy working on Luis' stupid BBQ. Naw, I'll handle it. I'd prolly get kicked off after harrassing you when you post pics of it. I went to the 1-800 call center. They were taking the operator out on a stretcher cuz the switchboard overloaded and blew up.
  5. Darn your eyes Luis !! I did not need a project attached to a project that's attached to another project. This is the worst idea to come down the pike since the previous worst idea to come down the pike. So anyway, I'm thinkin' the front should be the BBQ since (wait for it) that's where the grille is, plus the windshield will make an excellent hinged cover for it. Then the back can be storage for coolers, supplies and ice. At least you can keep ice there until you fire up the grille. Needs a cover too. Hinged on the side maybe.......... If anyone gets annoyed because SOMEBODY just added a week or two to this build, I've set up a Hotline. That number in Cali is 1-800-HIT-LUIS.
  6. Just when you thought I was done roaming the "WIP" halls, I'm back already. Couldn't wait to get started on the JJ Tribute hauler. The paint will be the same, basically decaled the same. Not sure about wheels and tires, but, I guess I'm gonna need 8 of whatever they are. This might take a while. Can you say, "Got Bondo?" First pic is extended crew cab, second is bed / hauler platform, (pull out ramps will be on rack in bed under hauler ramp), 3rd is the whole enchilada, 4th is the "Dachsund" shot and finally, what's left over.
  7. Know what Mark? I'm not sure about the rounded M. I have never been a slave to that sort of thing. I went with what looked right for the theme of the build. It was just another way of emphasizing a fictional change of engine and body, Guess I was trying too hard to get my point across. As for the canards, absolutely. They had to be a pain to avoid in the pits. My guess as to their demise? I think bigger spoilers or no noticeable advantage on the run or in the time slips. Thanx John. The chute lines are white "wrapping wire" from Radio Shack. It comes in red, white and blue. Salute !! They've been washed, then dry brushed with Tamiya Dark Grey (in the "body on" pics). The tags came with the Hawaiian decals. They are also on some of the Slixx contingency sheets. I used thin plastic cut to the shape of the decal, with wire (also red wrapping wire) super glued to the back. Paint it red, put on the decal, flatten the gloss with Liquitex Matte Varnish (my new favorite thing). Drill a hole as close to the top of the chute as feasible and insert wire. You want it high otherwise, they tag the ground when you put up the body. Thanx for clearing that up Richard. Now I've been educated. See how that goes around Keef? lol
  8. But you like everything else about it, right? Back in the olden days of drag racing, the true innovators were looking for anything that would give the rear end downforce. That's why they went to altered wheelbases to begin with. The canard was one of those attempts. I decided to add a canard to the canard from Competition Resins. Sorry if it looks out of place, but that's the way it was.
  9. As with most of Jungle's runs, this has been a wild ride. Right out of the gate, this was supposed to be a Hawaiian build. I'd modified the wheel wells, lowered the rear end stance, (my choice and the cause of numerous fixes, lol), and widened the distance between holes in the grill for the nose braces to clear the ends of the Hawaiian island decal. Then, the Money Fairy thumped me with her magic wand and I could suddenly afford some Slixx decals. While researching and finding some JJ "what if's", I decided that what was needed was an all out tribute. Next time will somebody please stop me? I take that back because now I can start on the hauler. To all of you who were so kind and supportive during the build, I thank you from the bottom on my Nitro tank. And now, on the the pics. I'll be glad to field any questions and queries that fit within the newly, 50 caliber enforced, established rules of prudence and decorum. Yes, I just saw the raggedy hole for the left parachute release line. Also I am aware of a slight misalignment on the right side canard. Both easily fixable.
  10. Raoul, you are exactly what we need more of here. A modeler who has a true passion for the subject at hand, jumps through hoops of fire to put together the needed goodies, then knocks it out of the park. You have my approval to begin another MOPAR at your earliest convenience. Nice job, sir.
  11. Um, John, I've counted fewer than 7,000 added details. Is this a quickie? Most excellent as per normal.
  12. I love "what if" builds. Veery nice.
  13. Hey everybody !! No, I did not forget I'm working on a model here somewhere. I've been running into fitment challenges. The car is essentially done, except the body sits high at the nose. This is because I had the bright idea of flipping the hinge mounts on the rear tin to give it a lower stance, I have made 3 corrections and thought it was all good, until the rollcage started hitting. So, off it comes, drop a 1/4 inch or so in height and I should be good. Did I mention that the U. S. Nationals also interfered? Plus a Circus Wagon crashed in front of my house and I had to help herd all of the escaped elephants. Then this meteor landed in my back yard and it was really cloudy today, too !! Bear with me. we're almost home.
  14. Here ya go
  15. About a year ago, I lost my job of 10 years at a local casino. This forced the sale of my 3rd lifetime major collection. So, as with all stout-hearted Americans, I rebuild, again. It'll be a slow, small restart, but I'm doing it with STYLE !! Here's some pics of my work area. You'll see a sign that reads, "Never put off till tomorrow what you can do day after tomorrow just as well." Sounds like a Yogi-ism (Berra), but it's actually Mark Twain. I use it for reverse psychology to prevent procrastination. At least, I was going to but I had something else to do. The Batman logo is a laser cut out for an incomplete project and a plaque for a bowling score of 290. Spared in the first frame, never missed after that. Never did get a 300. Sigh. There's a shot of what's left of my Sci-Fi collection in the next pair of pics. The quad nacelled Klingon Dreadnaught is almost 30 years old. The Enterprise looking 4 engined ship took an award at Wonderfest in Louisville, KY a few years ago. Anyway, that's my digs. Enjoy.
  16. Wanted you to see the mural again before I put in the nose braces.
  17. Okay, here's what. Boss Rom and I had a nice converse and I've agreed to keep an eye on the future and do my best to promote the proper atmosphere of positive spirits, always keeping in mind that Rom has a 50 Cal and a trigger finger. That's twitching. With the safety off. In range. Possibly imbibing in an adult beverage. In short, no need to go into insignificant details. I thought it was going to be a problem if I remained, so I removed myself. I am now confident that I can be here and share my love of this hobby as before with a new understanding of how things work. If I see a situation I don't care for or agree with, I will no longer jump in where my opinions may be unwelcome. BACK TO MODEL BUILDING OR REASONABLE FACSIMILE THEREOF: When we last left our merry band of adventurers, the Evil Sith Queen of Planet Sagorath had captured.........er, um, I, that is, oh, yeah!!!!!! I had said I'd be done in a day if there were no distractions. There was a distraction, plus I'm a lousy judge of when a model is going to be complete. My homemade "Top 50 Drivers" decal for the rear window came out like stained glass, almost a ghost image. Is it a sign that this build is being watched from above? I sure hope so. Chute release fabricated, wired and installed. It will thread through the tinwork in 2 places. Front and rear bumpers got the BMF treatment. There will be one more post showing the tin installed and the "JJ Hearts JP" mural is done with the help of a little dab of white glue. Ahhhhh, it's good to be back. See y'all tomorrow. And thanx for your kind words. You all know who you are. It felt groovy. Might be a better choice of words, but then again, I'm not the one who called me "Precious." I'll let you know when I stop laffing Brett. :D
  18. Nova and all. A major problem with all forums is, when you are typing something in, you intend it to be interpreted one way, but someone always misinterprets or puts their own slant on it. That starts petty fights and bickering. All I wanted to do was build and have a good time. If I learned one thing during my career in customer service, no matter how nice you are, there's always someone intent on ruining your day with their problems and issues. I don't take personal attacks well and though it's not my job to defend others, I do. It's in my nature. I will post pics on Photobucket under the name of Kitbasher1. You're all welcome to check in. Also, I will post pics of the completed job in Drag Racing. That will be my final entry.
  19. I would like to take a moment to apologize to everyone following this build as I can no longer be a part of this forum. We'll simply call it an agreement to disagree with the enforcement of some policies here. Double standards, that sort of thing. Peace. Out.
  20. Raise your hand if you remember me putting in a blank under the hood to cover the ejection marks and hood seams because I was so laz....efficient? Due to popular demand, I have found a way to get The Lovely, The Vivacious, The Curvaceous, Pamela Hardy a place on this build. I got to thinking about the crew having a bad day. Sure they're killing the competition, but there's a gremlin they are trying to find and they need inspiration. Where do they look? Under the hood, literally. With the body up, all they have to do is look up and say, "What would JJ do?" Depending on how tomorrow goes, I may be done. Only details left, but lots of 'em. Are ya' ready for that folks? Me too. So, without further ado, here's 2 really boring pictures of the wheelie bars and then the crew's inspiration.
  21. Braaaaaad, that's baaaaaad !!!!!! You Arizona boyz have got your stuff together, no doubt. I gotta get up there next time y'all have a contest. I can't compete with this stuff, but I like to watch.
  22. Ya gotta love a hobby where somebody can tell you to pound sand and they tell you it's a great idea. lol. lol. Brad that's hi IQ stuff. I was thinking powdered dilithium crystals from a decommisioned warp core, but you run the chance of getting your flux capacitor suspended in an unstable anti-quantum matrix. Who needs that? Oh, plus it attracts ants....... Chris, please stop making me want to do a really big project 'cuz I'm thinking of doing an OCIR starting line tower diorama and I'm not certain if I'm insane enuff to attempt it.
  23. I've been questioned by Mark more than once about my opinions and methods and I'm doing my best to remain civil. I'm sure he's an intelligent, well thought of individual. Also, love your work Mark. I couldn't handle those itty bitty Hot Wheels like you do. But I would appreciate more thought and consideration, You are dealing with friends here. Here's what bothers me most about the majority of "The Finger Pointers." They are not the ones who are INTENTLY FOCUSED on building THIS model and dealing with ALL of it's unique construction issues. Every person on this board has a different set of skills and experience. Don't expect someone to modify a build to suit yours. I have believed since learning what an "Editorial Opinion" is, that if you find a problem you must suggest a way to correct it. Don't just rant about why YOU think it's wrong or how YOU would have done it. I copied this from the header at the beginning of the "On the workbench" forum. Rules for On The Workbench For those viewing others who are presenting their works in progress in this section of the forum, please keep your criticisms, sarcasms, and other comments to yourself, unless the builder/poster has specifically asked for such replies. John Lennon was right. Flower Power should have never died. Peace.
  24. Tim B, there's only one thing that gives me a bigger grin than seeing a Hemi motivated Mustang. That's a model wired with thread !! Oh, I long for those days. Used it on my long lost Charlie Allen Dart. It won a local 7-11 contest that same year. Took it to the semi's at Ontario Motor Speedway, then, blew up my 1959 Dodge Coronet on the way home. lol
