  1. Mike - You've got a lot of competition out there for the Slowest Builder Title. I nominate Leonardo DaVinci. I haven't seen a model from him in centuries !! Tony - You're Welcome and now you're smarter than yesterday. Didn't think that was possible, didja' ?? John - I'm leaning really hard towards that 2010 Challenger. Thinking about lengthening (and widening?) the rear window fills me with dread and excitement (but not too much excitement). Virgil - Hold yer Hossies on the paint. There's a whole lot o' Hauler Housing fitment that requires body handling. Final paint is a ways off. sorry........ Walt - Blowing people away is my main purpose in life. Wait 'till you see what I see in my brain pan........ Steve - GMTA. That's what I did on the roof. It was like laying a driveway. After I lay down some more, I'll block sand it. I like the Duster idea. Don't count anything out until you see the pictures of what it will be. Now, while I was typing all of this in, a silvery voice from downstairs called my name and said, "You've got a package !!" I wonder what it might be ?? If my guess is right, it's a HUG model, some PE pedals and throttle linkage, and some decal paper. But that's just a guess.......Whoot !!
  2. "Never put off 'till tomorrow what you can do day after tomorrow just as well." - Mark Twain (or was it Sam Clemmons? I forgot.)
  3. Here's the sanding pics. After a thorough rub down, a couple of minor areas needed attention. I'll clean those up in the morning, do a finish sanding and shoot her again.
  4. Glad everything worked out. Sounded like Dejavu all over again. Got an idea if you like for the air cleaners. Permanent coffee filter. No, don't install miniature coffee filters on them. Use the metal screen to wrap around the center of the air filter. This is way 2 cool Dave.
  5. That's a purdy lookin' ride ya got there. Impressive !!
  6. You sure know how to grab a MOPAR fan's attention. Beautiful.
  7. Outstandable !! Now, do that with the butterflies and the throttle linkage and the brake pedal....and the working ignition keyswitch........
  8. Since I finished the time filler Zinger while awaiting the USPS slow boat from Georgia, I guess I've got to do something else. Sigh........ I need to build the Drag-u-la to go with my Munster Koach. The Koach was built box stock, but I figured if Granpa Munster and Herman got a chance to race again,Granpa might want an edge. Therefore, it's getting a blown Hemi, tinwork including firewalls (plural, one at the tinwork and one at the back of the motor), and I might even put a wing or 2 on it. A rollcage is also a strong maybe. Awfully tight quarters with the glass on. Might make the glass more like a Top Fuel windshield to give more height to the cage. We'll see. The motor and tinwork were donated, begrudgingly, by the PL Stardust Barracuda. In the meantime, here's the start. Edit: Sorry, tried tags for the first time. The don't work the way I thought they might, so ignore them.
  9. Jim, I can't think of a good argument in favor of primer, except to say if something works for you, stick with it. It's basic purpose is to provide better paint adhesion, prevent rust and to show flaws. Allow me to get silly when I say that I've never seen ANY paint fail to adhere to a surface; I've never had a model rust out on me; The gold does a better job of showing flaws, plus it requires less effort to sand. LOOK !! Something shiny and worth a lot of money !! Luis, you are a silly person and I appreciate that. Thank you, as always, for your insight Brett. You always look for the pluses with the negatives. Everybody that has found something that works for them should stick with it. Thanx for your support of the updated HUG. The Deora still looks futuristic 45 years after it's debut and needs a sleeker ride to haul around. Raise your hand if you knew the Deora took the Riddler Award on it's debut at the Detroit Autorama in 1967. Thanx Steve. There will be "Go-age", oh yeah. Epic Goage !! I would have "Quoted " the responses, but I kept getting an error about the number of opening and closing quote marks........new one on me. I'll have some sanding pics later today.
  10. I know a lot of you who are following this build aren't replying to my recent posts and I just want y'all to know I'm okay with that. There hasn't been much to reply about. I do want to share a new technique I'm using that I'm liking a lot. In a recent post, many builders were saying they don't use primers before painting. Due to my current experience with DupliColor Sandable Primer, I'm pretty much done with them myself. It clogged every attempt at sanding all 9 areas that this build has putty on, whether I used paper or a stick. Yuck !! During the Jungle Jim build, I thought I needed an undercoat beneath the Tamiya TS-19 Metallic Blue, unsure if it was a transparent or Kandy color. Turns out it was unneeded, but the Tamiya TS-21 Gold I laid down showed up some flaws. I decided to color sand the areas and when I was working the color it was VEEERY easy to see where the work was required. The shading difference between finished and unfinished was clearer than night and day. I'm using that same technique on the Bride of Deora, (hereafter to be accompanied by a "(TYVMM)", which stands for "Thank You Very Much Mike"), and I wanted to share some pics of the first coat prior to sanding and shaping of the back side windows. You can see the areas that need the most work, but you'll really notice the diff when I start workin' it. Also the choice of gold here is perfect because it will have a paint scheme that matches the Hemi Under Glass anyway. Again, thanx for hangin' in there to everyone from the followers to the lurkers, (we can see you, muahahahahaha), for all the views. Probably be back to work in earnest on it again by Friday ???????????? Saturday ???????????? OH !! One more thing (this oughta get some responses). I'm thinkin about using a 2010 Challenger body. AMT has one in the same scale and the paint and decals pose no problem. I'm also thinking of extending the back window into the trunk and/or roof area for the "Under Glass" effect. Whaddya think ??
  11. Hmmmmm, the way I see it, YOU kicked that hood's butt. Nice Mr. CrazyJim sir, very nice. I love when an interior contrasts and compliments the body color for that whole, "Yeah, I am Green... and you don't have a problem with it !!", attitude. Golf Clap ".........clap.....clap....clap....clap....".
  12. This is one of those pictureless (gasp) posts to update current events. Firstly, I've got a Hemi Under Glass winging it's way to me from somewhere in Georgia. Should be here in a few days. The truck itself has been officially named Bride of Deora. Thanx Mike, I loved it from the second I read it. lol lol . At the moment, she also has the bogus false official extra special add-on title of "Queen Bondo Deora of the Putty Underworld." Yes, I know it's glazing & spot putty, but it is my weapon of choice. It's predictable and I'm not going to experiment on this. So, I'm gonna play with a Dragula for a while to pacify myself 'til the Post Mistress gets here. What? Don't even ask !! Of course I'm sticking a Hemi in it. In addition to that, it's gonna be superhuffered. I can't look at those twin itty-bitty off-center pooper scoopers another second. Might also do something twisted to the headers (figuratively, not literally).
  13. Since I first started posting here on Aug 1, I have completed the Chi-Town Hustler, the U.S. Dart, the Jungle Jim Charger and yesterday finished (Finnished?) the Willys Mini Zinger. Why so prolific? Being recently retired (involuntarily) from the workforce, I NEED something to fill my days. Others are still in the workforce and must appease wives and kids and carry on a semblance of a normal life. This is primarily a leisure time activity, but it also depends heavily on motivation and devotion to the subject at hand. Speaking of which, I gotta get back to work on the Bride of Deora.
  14. There it is. Ta-Da !! Like I said, it was a time filler. The wheel covers were a challenge at the last. I tested super glue, Model Master glue, Elmer's, Micro Krystal Klear and finally settled for Aleene's Clear Gel Tacky. Still not dry, but looks promising. To The Bat-Pics !!
  15. Still on hiatus, but got some body work done. Plenty of touch up and refills. I've ordered a HHUG and it should be here in about a week. I'll keep this topic alive until then.
  16. Well, it's still today, barely and it's done. See y'all in Under Glass.
  17. Not into the Hudson so much. UNTIL NOW !! Thanx for giving me a reason to pick up one of these puppies. Have some fun Jeff. I like the injector stack idea as well. Oh, one other thing. Wheelbase schmeelbase, TY.
  18. Home run, hole in one, touchdown, strike, GOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLL !!!!!!!! That's all I could come up with sports-wise during a moment of awe. Oh, one more. Go fish. That means, NEXT !!
  19. Looks like fun to me Niko. I think putting in a Chevy motor is a great idea. The only reason to put a hemi in, is if it was a real car and you wanted to win. I'm sorry. I couldn't help myself. There's no way I could pass that up. I tried, I really did. Seriously, It would be refreshing to see a motor match the car brand in a funny car for a change.
  20. "Detroit, we have lift off !! Lift off, and the Magnum Force 1 is airborne and on it's way to a drag strip (or mall parking lot) near you."
  21. That door handle mechanism thingie could work with ANYTHING. Great craftsmanship. Good luck on your spring hunt.
  22. Yes I have and yes they are. I'm taking a serious look at that little red altered. Make a nice Wild Willie diorama. No pics today 'cuz everything is about ready for assembly which should happen tomorrow. I oughta know better than to make a statement like that. Seriously, all I have left to do is polish out some clear orange peel on the hood and roof, then assemble. Cross yer finners !!
  23. Tonite and tonite only !! See the Incredible Dr. Cranky and Grandpa McGurk team up to take on Alien Invaders on this episode of Mystery Model Theater 3000. Watch in disbelief as the Despotic Duo reign fire, chemicals and chaos down on these otherworldly cowards. As the tide turns however and our heroes seem doomed to allow the world to come under the control of these evil beasts, Death From Above is the battlecry as 40 Airborne paratroopers descend with all barrels blazing............ Um, sorry, I don't know how this ends yet.
