MO-PAR, MO-PAR, MO-PAR, MO-PAR !! I think I've made my point and you, made a Dodge Boy very happy.

Um, Randy, um, I'm gonna need a list of shows that this beast is scheduled to enter so I'll know which contests to stay away from. Actually, you're one of the reasons I stayed. If I'm gonna run with the big dogs, (Ya'll know who you are), I gotta stay up to speed on current events. Please don't take this wrong, but your rear end is incredible. There's gotta be a better way to word that...........

Since I'm not building a replica of the Deora, I didn't research it. Dang Howdy if'n you ain't right there Mr. Tony T Man. They sure are Mustang bezels on the real thing. They put wire mesh behind them. Who the heck at Dodge authourized that? HEY GANG !! The interior is done with the installation of the belts. Boy Howdy if'n they weren't a major pain. Twelve hours of my life I'll never get back. I am NEVER gonna' put belts in a car that has more than one seat. Now, on to the Hauler housing and ramp. As always, I'm saving the body for last. Randy, glad you're having fun. There will be grillage and I've got some pretty cool ideas for it too. I found a 1/24 camping diorama set that will give me the cooler and other goodies but I guess I'll have to make the BBQ tool set myself. Thanx as always to everybody watching whether you're commenting or lurking, it's all good. -
That's a sweet looking little monster ya' got goin' there. And just so you know, there's no shame in totally abandoning one model in favor of another, regardless of how the other model may feel about it. You're the Boss, you decide the fate of every single kit in your collection. And please don't take our feelings into consideration either. Especially those of us who have been faithfully following the other build. As a matter of fact, I can't even remember what it was now. A Pro Mod Funny Car Dragster Motorcycle or something like that? Okay, I'm done pokin' fun at ya. Have fun whatever you do. That's all we can really ask.

Ken, you had me at JJ. (Sorry, big fan.) I use PhotoBucket to store all my pics and I post 5 at a shot using their "direct link" option. If you need more info than that, pm me. Super sweet JJ build and I like the Fiat as well. Give us more.

That's what I was thinking while painting them !! However, it CLEARLY states that the part is a "Vented Exhaust Port Cover", a required piece in the assembly of the "Side Exhaust Port" and is listed as part #330 in the instructions, Cab Assembly "D" section, although it's not narked as such on the instruction sheet as are Cab Assemblies "A" thru "C". Are you still glad you asked that question? GUESS WHAT ??????? I got the center console done !!!! You can now easily see the finished steering wheel along with the newly discovered "fuzzy thing" growing off of the left spoke. Thank The Maker for Macro photography. Also the "dive plane / rudder control" portion of the steering column has been corrected. Sorry Mike....... Wait'll ya' all see the Uber Kewl piston shift knob I made. I'm so proud of me. What? It's a little long? Yeah? So what? Why does it have a brass top? 'Cuz it's the only thing I had to stick in the tube that I could polish! Aren't the piston ring channels spaced wrong? You try looking into a 1/8th inch gap in a tubing cutter to judge spacing...using a flashlight...while texting. Also made a soft drink cup w/ straw and put some kinda brown stuff in there in a vain attempt at making it appear to be Pepsi or Root Beer or a chocolate shake. What would Jungle drink? NVM. Sorry I asked...... Final touches are the stereo left of the column and on the right, gauges with a drop of epoxy on each to make a lens. Nice little magnifiers. Think I'll take another crack at getting to those seat belts. -
Their mom promised me they wouldn't play with them, but I did make the mistake of not gluing down the clear cases. I made a point of finding out what each kid's favourite color was and painted each accordingly Thanx to all for the nice comments and the offer of support Steve. I've tried to quit a half dozen times and usually something work related got me started again. Since I'm not working anymore, maybe it's time to give it another shot.

" Mercury Rising": 49 Mercury Convertible / "Bubble Top"
Nitrozilla replied to John Teresi's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Is that the electric hybrid version of the flat head? Does it at least run on alternative fuel sources? Also, I've made a decision. I'm buying stock in Alclad. As long as you can hold an airbrush John, that's a safe investment. Giga Kudos on another awe inspiring build. -
I just saw a recent reminder that, although they may not be a mighty force, we do have kid's that are forum watcher's. That reminded me of the models I built for my grandbratz (Love you guys!), for Christmas of 2009. They are special because I didn't even know they existed until October of 09! I had lost contact with my daughter 30+ years ago and we have been reunited. So for our first Christmas, I built each of them a model. I won't go into the ugly details, but I had to knock out 3 box stock builds in 2 weeks while working. The completion of those models was one of the prouder moments of my life. So there you have it. Just a quick reminder to love our children and be mindful of their presence when we are posting. One last little thing. The presence of the cigarettes and ashtray. These pics were not originally intended for posting and I keep them out of sight in my current pics out of respect for those who don't smoke. The kid's are starting to put pressure on me about it and I am making a concentrated effort to cut back. I think Captain Jeau-Luc Picard said it best. "There are fewer days ahead than there are behind."

Good for me too. Posted pics earlier this evening.

So Mike, um, do I push forward on the wheel to dive or what? Guess a supercharger on a sub would give a whole new meaning to... (wait for it) "blowing ballast." Hah, I kill me too !! Is joke I make for to give people laughing. Actually, I figure it to be "fly by wire" computer control. Heck of a mod for a 1965 Dodge pickup that's gonna be hauling around a 69/70 Charger, right? Oh yeah, thanx for whatever it was you said about the headrests being touched. (Kidding) -

Nitrozilla replied to cruz's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Mr. Cruz, sir. About a month ago, maybe less, I was one of those who were about to bail. Thanx to Rom, and the request of others, I stayed and I'm veeeeery glad I did. The inspirations I am receiving on my current build are coming straight from fellow modelers who are following along. I languish in their praise and have learned to ignore those who would do otherwise. Although, honestly, it's been a great big ol' LoveFest since I returned. If I had been more adept, I would have written something similar. Now get back to building and doing what you really love. -

Thanx for staying tuned in everybody (and Luis). I think you're gonna like this update even though I didn't get to the seat belts. I was kinda busy with the seats themselves. First thing was to soften them up with a light sanding. Made all of the difference in the world. I made a seat insert panel template, (again with the templates), then cut out the panels using PSYCHEDELIC duct tape. Added a strip across the headrests and then covered them with my new favorite thing, Liquitex Matte Varnish. Available at most art and hobby shoppes near you. The console is getting closer. Added the steering column. In addition to modifying the steering wheel, I drilled out the spoke hole impressions. DAG NABIT !!!!! Forgot to punch a hole in the marble inlay for the steering column. It was going to be under the dash, but was too low for the driver. So, I drilled a hole in the dash, super glued in a piece of aluminum tubing and went blindly on my merry way. I have mixed feelings about whether to regret the 70's or not. OH !! Something shiney............. Where was I? Right, I was talking about the headliner which is now in a state of doneness. Not sure if that's it's intended purpose as they show a generic patio set on the front picture. Your guess is as good as mine Jim, probably better. See enclosed picture. I am going to lightly take a sanding stick and knock down the rough looking bits. Please excuse the gratuitous background bling in the pic. Um, I, er, well, that's where the best light was. Since we have the whole, "solid as a rock", theme going, I found some nice marble and granite pics during a search that will be just swell for the center console. And golly jee whiz, I think those cup holders will be the bee's knees when I get them polished and permanent. The console itself, along with the overhead console (window hinge doo-dad), will be Jungle Jim Blue, just like the car. Next, steering and seat belts. The seats should be mucho improvo by theno. -

Thanx for the info on the Street Rod Nats Jim. My daughter lives in Auburndale and she might take the kid's to the show. They wanna see what Grandpa does at a model contest. Gratz on the recognition. -
Hey Wayne. Whenever you need inspiration, turn to ANY build by John Teresi. In this case, I ripped, um, was inspired by his "Chuckwagon" wheelie bar when I made mine for the U.S. Dart. You may have a different style in mind, but it's an option. Official Notice: This is not an attempt to hijack, I just like showing off. It's another reason to build. lol

It's growing on me too Mike. And, I don't know how to make it stop. This happens a lot with my builds. That's why I don't do "accuracy" builds. First, I lack the knowledge. Worst, if I get an idea while I'm doing a build, I gotta let it happen. I truly believe that when I get the detailing done, accent stripes and so forth, it'll distract from any overwhelming feeling we're getting from the "Whole Earth" look. Now if you'll excuse me, I just found out it's gonna tag the windshield by 1/8th of an inch and I can't find my razor saw. -
That's a great build Steve. Detail throughout and not cluttered. They were simple back in the day, that's what makes them fun, no matter how long it takes.

It was bound to happen. The Starship Modeler came out in me while I was working ideas for the console shape. I tried to stop it, but it kept taking over my mind. I try to go straight and it does this little upswing on me. I try to stay with semi-conventional styling and it just does whatever it wants to do, so I'm just gonna go with it. There will be no swiveling seats. Sorry Luna, they did look cool conference style. I'll bring in the steering column from under the dash, so that leaves the side swivel point available. Guess I'll have to put a computer monitor with GPS readings on the screen on a swivel mount. It's getting crowded in here so I better get back to work. -
So let's sum this up. It's a MOPAR, it's blown, it's got slicks and it goes down the track on only two wheels? IT'S PERFECT !!!! Glad to see the paint change. Thanx for the extra effort to make it right.

Experimenting with Rustoleum Textured paint. I'm mixed about the look. I love the texture, but it makes the interior look like it was carved out of rock. Hopefully when it's done the center console and other details will smooth out the look. Found some cool textured paper at Hobby Lobby yesterday when I was looking for embossing powder to do the carpet with. They only had metallics, (shoulda gone to Michael's), but I'm happy with the paper. Since I make templates, it's just one more paper template. Last shot is the headliner. It'll get dome lights and an A/C vent. I'm going back to bed. Ugggggggghhhhhhh......... -

....And in the spirit of keeping up the work, here's the initial putty work on the interior tub. Gonna give it lots of time to gas out due to some pretty large gaps being filled. Then there's the chairs, (notice how they went from being seats, to chairs), which are almost done. Need to add the swivel posts. Thought about armrests, but it would make the interior look too crowded. Also thinking about a front to back center console with cup holders, but may put them on the sides instead. Here's the templates for the carpet and headliner. The widescreen TV is in the paint shop.
