my latest lonestar/fruehauf combo
Chad replied to Chad's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
I grew up in niles michigan so I used to see these trucks all the time, I just wish I had one more set of suspension and tires and 12 alcoas for more of a "showy" look to it with 6 axles was exactly what I wanted. But thanks you all for the always kind words. Chad -

Thanks everyone. Thanks for the info Leo, looks like the maxxforce it is than! I wish I had 8 10 hole aluminum wheels for the trailer, it would look 100 times better with them thank the daytons. Chad -

here's some more. Chad -
well guys, here is my laest project, I've been working on for a little over a month. the truck is pretty much box stock with a few customizations but not very big ones. I'm thinking about planting a 3406 under the hood but I have to do some research to see if they came with cat engines. the trailer is 2 fruehauf trailers converted to a 48' quad 8 spreads. I built the sideboard kit as well as working on the tarping system now. give me some constructive criticism....PS the lonestar complaint is as usual... TOO MUCH DETAIL!! THE CAB LIGHTING IS DRIVING ME INSANE!!! and A BIG THANK YOU TO GORDON FOR SENDING ME THE SPARE CAB!!! since I messed mine up painting it. anyway here are the pics, sorry for the cell phone quality. Chad

I would have to say that moebius is doing and excellent job. What model kit is perfect out of the box? Ive had italeri kits that were worse thank amt kits when it came to flash, warpage, fitment etc. its their first big truck, cut them some slack, were all could still be building 1970 freightliners. Im currently building my second lonestar and still have 0 complaints, the kit is amazing. I am ecstatic that theyre listening to their markets and creating new models. I cant wait for the prostar and the great dane to coe out and can only hope to see more. Chad

Scale tarps and bungee cords
Chad replied to Chad's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
what would be the water to glue ratio? does it matter? or just like 4-5 drops for a bowl of water? Chad -
LoneStar Hood - correct fit.
Chad replied to Dave Metzner's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Hey Dave, what about getting onboard to get that as a kit? That would be awesome! Chad -

Awesome Ryan, thank you so much! That was exactly what I needed! Can I let them dry over a shape to conform to that shape? Chad -
Scale tarps and bungee cords
Chad replied to Chad's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Yeah im wanting to cover the load, not run a rolled tarp. Chad -
Does anyone know how to go about this? I might be able to use rubber bands for the bungee cords, but im really realy lost on the tarp. My flatbed needs some tarps over its sideboards though. Chad

Converting amt flatbed to 48'?
Chad replied to Chad's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
It worked so elk for me, I'm in the process of building a quad axle 8' spread covered wagon to go behind my new lonestar project, I just wish I had some alcoas instead of daytons....its coming along nicely though......any tips on making scale tarps? Chad -
Who me ben? I'm not complaining....I was just saying I need his cab bc I messed up my paint and cab. I love the model personally...I want more of them I'll buy the prostars too when they come out. I want to build a heavy haul using revell alaskan hauler and the lonestar cab. Chad
-
I need a cab very very badly!!!! I messed mine up in paint but if possible I have an idea for a heavy haul lonestar not needing any of the axles our wheels please let me know what you would want for the rest of your kit!!! Chad
-
Hey guys I'm in trouble. I came home from deployment and decided to get into another build. I picked up a lonestar the other night and today while I was painting the main portion of the cab the paint screwed up.well I tried to acetone it to get the layers of the paint off and it really messed up the cab....dang near unusable. Do any of you guys have an extra or know how to get ahold of one? all I need is the body itself, everything else is still usable. Thanks in advance Chad

Thank you to Mark Lottero
Chad replied to Chad's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
the motor isn't done yet, Nor is the drivetrain I've still got all that to build, I'm just glad that someone else wanted to build the Coke truck once I started putting this one together. I'll be doing a few little things, my wife is sending me some "supplies" from home so we'll see how it turns out. Chad -
hey Mark, I have the models that you donated( well one of them, I have the paystar 5000 because they sat on the shelf until yesterday ), no one had picked them up, except today I started to build the paystar 5000 while I was volunteering my time to get some people interested in it. well today I handed out the Coca Cola Ford Louisville short hauler you sent, THANK YOU VERY MUCH! we are very proud to build these for you guys! I can't say thank you enough! Chad Hessey here's the progress I've done TODAY! I will have more to post up later after I receive all the model stuff from my wife in about a week, I'm actually going to build it as a road tractor

Lonestar Question
Chad replied to blue logger's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment

GMC Astro & Peerless Logger question
Chad replied to evansdad01's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
yes it will work in the stowed position with the sleeper on with no need to extend the frame. I recently built a white frieghtliner as a logger and have put it up on the deck, even with mine being an extended stinger on the trailer it still works in the stowed position. Chad
