Based on my very limited experience, I have to say I've had the least amount of issues with Tamiya kits. I've built several of the aircraft kits and patrol boats as well as F1, Ferrari, Jags, and a few others I can't remember.
I like the old AMT kits from the 60's and early 70's but that's probably because that's all I used to build back then. For modern companies Tamiya has spoiled me. I've yet to have a problem with any kit I've built from them. I would love to see a company like Tamiya tackle the early muscle cars.
When I was in the hobby store yesterday one of the guys there was talking on the phone about starting a chapter in my area. There are no modeling clubs at all in my area. Every thing I've heard about IPMS so far has been less than positive. Things I've heard ; " they care more about military type modeling", "rivet counters", "very snobbish" etc... But for a new chapter just starting out Is it worth getting in on the ground floor so to speak ? So far the guy at the hobby shop has 5 people interested to start it. I told him I'd think about it. It sure would be nice to hang out with some local boys who are into modeling.
Tell me the good and the bad
