  1. Cars in 67 most certainly came with at least a drivers side mirror
  2. Just guessing at the size of those logs ( 8 ft diameter and about 18 ft long) just guessing those would produce about 9000 bd ft of lumber Not sure being Sunday morning it's hard to get current pricing but those logs are probably worth well over $ 40,000.00 each
  3. I don't think I've ever encountered anything like that How does the interior tub fit inside the body ? It shouldn't be too hard to shorten the chassis, but that is a very odd situation
  4. I believe if you contact Revell and explain the issue, they will send you the missing part you need.
  5. Being self employed myself, When I go out to give estimates I always pay close attention to peoples attitudes. I have come to the point where I charge more for people who are going to be difficult. Sometimes I'll adjust my price high enough just so I know I won't get the job and have to deal with them. I've learned that those who have had to struggle through life, scrimp and save pennies for what they wanted were far more appreciative for services than those who were well to do. And I just love the customer who knows everything
  6. Here ya go Tom, since you and I are practically neighbors. Have some ribs
  7. I went to school with friends who had VW's very much like that. Nice job and welcome to the forum.
  8. He's a builder on this forum who builds a lot of rods similar to what you did.
  9. Very cool. It's like Chuck Most and Dr Cranky had a baby. I mean that as a very sincere compliment.
  10. Probably one of the best saves I've seen Great job !
  11. I have the same problem. I don't have a dedicated space for building. My wife suggested setting up a table in the living room, but having cats in the house I told her the cats would die if and when they get into my stuff. For now I have my things organized into boxes that I have to unpack and then pack back up when I'm done.
  12. That's Harry's pet peeve
  13. No pics but I did have the famous MikeMc over to my house for dinner twice
  14. Looks real nice Mike. Can't wait to see it in paint.
  15. Sorry to high jack this thread but tell me where you got the blue suburban in the background
  16. My worst builds were sacrificed to the fireworks gods a long time ago.
  17. try putting the tire in some warm water to help soften it so it stretches more.
  18. Nice detail shots of the sub assemblies. It's coming along nicely.
  19. I prefer the older funny cars, but you certainly did a great job on that one. Very nice indeed.
  20. It's the satisfaction of looking at an object that was created by my own hands. I'm a woodworker by trade and it's the same driving force. Getting paid for my cabinet work is secondary to viewing the finished project. It's also comforting to know that hopefully what we build will outlast us and bring someone else some happiness or sense of pride of ownership. Although the internet has brought us together, it's also a nice time of solitude to work on a model, just getting lost in thought, clearing your head of other worries and concerns. The same applies to my woodwork. I tell people it's my happy place.
  21. It's a 250 gallon propane tank. I got it for $100.00. You'll need to call around to propane companies. Some like to sell old tanks others don't want the liability. The company I bought mine from removed all the fittings for the gauges and valves, took off the rating plate and wrote the bill of sale for scrap metal. Even though it was empty for a while, I purged it with argon before cutting into it. Even still the pucker factor was high when the torch made the first cut.
  22. Tucker is half Husky ( mom) and half American Bulldog ( dad ). He's my early warning system. You can see my driveway is pretty long covered in crushed stone. He goes crazy if anyone even hits the stone turning around on our street. So he earns his bones Wasn't that hard and a lot cheaper to build it yourself. If you decide to pull the trigger on one, let me know I'll save you a lot of headaches figuring out fire box and flue sizes.
  23. I'm the guy in the back doing what I love most And here's a gratuitous pic of my smoker I built last year and Tucker who know he's getting some fine bones very shortly
  24. I use a 3M half face respirator. I forget which model I've got offhand but I spray a lot of nitrocellulose lacquers, and other pre and post catalyzed coatings for cabinets I build. If I were in my shop I could give you model numbers for cartridges I use which are very effective. When you smell the coating, it's time to change cartridges. By the way don't forget your skin and eyes can absorb VOCs too. Unless you have exceptional ventilation you may want to consider a full face mask as well as long sleeved shirts and full pants. You only have one body, take care of it.
