  1. Sergey, now that is taking it up a level or two, the detail is just amazing, keep up the great work
  2. Dave, that is some realistic weather you have done, whole model looks great, what is the gas bottle for?, central heating? and you may have to fit those chains while driving on that slippery road
  3. Nice job so far, look forward to an update
  4. Thanks Evan, You could load the first trailer and then put the 3rd on the 2nd if you decide to build another, will test your roping skills ,... but it does need a 3rd
  5. The interior is coming up great, as is the rest of it as well, are you going to add all the rivets as well?
  6. That is some great scratch building.... and a lot of rivets
  7. Good job so far keep up the good work
  8. Nice detail Jarda, should look great when fitted
  9. Ah, the KING of Alclad, I ready love the results you get from it, That orange is going to look so cool, and the rain cap is a nice touch
  10. The smile on her face say's it all, and it is a great way for Dad and his little lady to spend quality time doing this they both like, the trips to the hobby shop are more expensive from this time forward My daughter was 5 when she started, I can never get over the purple frame pink cab and orange interior of her first T600 snap kit, but she loves it, she is now 8 and doing a Pete 359, which is a bit hard for her, mind you I used the 3406 in Cat excavator, she has had a lot of help with this one, but is getting there, one thing I made sure of when she was spray paint was safety, mask, glasses etc while she used the rattle can "pink" Maybe there should be a kids section, so all us proud father's can show off
  11. To have working rams is relatively easy, and to have them hold weight is also easy, here is what I have done in the past I machine the piston of the ram just a fraction smaller than the inside diameter of the cylinder than I require, then I insert a pin on each side these are then filed down to suit the cylinder, so they are a tight fit, the ram then relies on fiction to work, with some fine tuning you can get them very close to being what you want and hold the weight that you want it to hold I have made them in styrene tube, and used a drill to shape what I want them to be, (hold the parts in the chuck here is the pin that is filed down ready for a test fit, you can also machine a groove and use "O" rings as you are applying friction to the inside of the rams/cylinder Here is some better ones that I had some white metal fitting made these did hold a 600mm boom up The grease option sounds like it would be ok, but could end up messy, then again, would add some real detail, good idea there, the radio antenna, so also a great idea, but these create a lot of force on the fittings that you attach, and on the model when you are adjusting them as they are tight, the antenna has to stay up right, and are generally chrome, which is a hard surface to get glue to stay attached to The RC guys have full working hydraulics, with pumps, valve banks, and rams, they are expensive Hope this helps
  12. Small update for this Light bar has had a bit of paint splashed on it, and the aluminium bezels fitted, now onto the lights, masters have been made and mounted ready to cast them Finally happy with the polished guards, have made a master for the brackets and will cast these in white metal, so they can be polished also, I may get a chance to have these finished in a few days so I can start putting them together
  13. SAR's rule, it's the first Australian designed Kenworth, and it is also the best Hessel, nice build love to see more of it
  14. What does the 3rd dash look like? Glad to see you enjoying this build
  15. Come on, add another trailer, you could stack one trailer, or jack it around the cabinet, or get out the ropes and tarps and build a load for the out back How did you go with the check plate?
  16. Jarda I have these already, but never thought about using for the Radiator, good thinking
  17. Great to see someone thinking out side the box, and boy are you doing a great job so far, I really like how you have tackled this baby, and just how many parts you can use from the W900 kit, Now, what are you doing for cab hinges, brass maybe a good option here, as there is some weight in that cab, isn't that metal glow plastic fun to work with, with the dash and console, doesn't the console wrap around a little more? Glad to see someone else enjoying the large scale
  18. Before they where polished After polishing Not to bad for rejects
  19. Anthony has done a great job weathering his Excavator, and the about products work well also, You can also try Rustall seems to work ok as well, but I find the rust just a bit to red for my liking, and if you want to add some texture to the manifolds as well, paint them, and while they are wet, sprinkle some baking soda on them, dust off and then paint again, adds a nice cast iron finish, but experiment on some scrap First
  20. Thanks, they are getting close Thanks Evan, they are close to what I want, little more work to do yet, what is happening with your trailer????
  21. Thanks Kurt, challenging, but are close, have to find a good way to polish them, may try before they are bent, then touch them up Oh Matt, that bench is so long, and getting longer
  22. Evil, there is a trick to them for sure, and they do take some time to do, I have machined up a former to help get the shape, the Aluminium ones don't make that much "extra" as they are only 0.016" thick, the key to modelling is to trick the eye into believing what it see's, and if you can do this then you are half way there, when they are formed there isn't that much over hang on the former, but the direction change get's the eye to believe there is I roll these on a long length first then cut to size, then form the edge After the Aluminium ones where done, well formed, I had to try a brass one for a brass build I am doing, they are ok, but are a lot more work to do, and should be annealed before they are bent, and the The Brass 1/4 guard is for setting the holes, when I am happy with the height it will be used for a Jig
  23. Kurt Good to see you have the paint flyin, like how you hold your frame, great Idea Can't wait to see it with that engine fitted,
