  1. I picked up a couple of the red versions years ago, and the black one earlier this year. I am building a twin to the one above, and am spending more time on it. Plan on detailing the engine more, and tidy up the paint..Have loved this kit since I was a kid in the seventies..
  2. Thanks guys! I had low hours on this build, bit it was my only finished model in years. I am making 2017 the year I finish off most of my stalled projects.
  3. Six years.. Getting closer..
  4. I owned one of these back in the 80's..The car was a tank..It would go through anything and even with 180,000 miles, was still running strong. when a Toyota pulled out in front of me,I demolished the them car doing about 45 mph.. broke my transaxle in the process. anyway, really like this build. fond memories.
  5. I will admit to not reading every post in this thread, but will respond to the original post..I for one like seeing, and posting even incremental progress on a build, for a couple reasons.More than once, during a build of mine, someone has pointed out either a technique or something i may have missed, that i was able to use or fix before i progressed too far on the build. At my rate of building, with all the other responsibilities i have, along with everyone else,i would be posting once every 2 years...I enjoy sharing my progress, and hope to help others and maybe even inspire like minded people who like the same types of builds..Here is my olds...hoping to finish by the end of December.. A work in progress
  6. thank..I was wondering one night,on my bench, how i would make those factory wheels look better...It kind of struck me as i was looking at the factory mags on the same chrome tree..i made one,and it worked out nicely..i just shot them today with Spaz Stix chrome, and i will tell you,i love that stuff..thanks to VW Dave for introducing me to it.. Chuck,The Satco tires are going to the 68...red lines..The 69 will get the polyglas goodyears...Made a lot of progress on both today..My muse has returned in a big way..
  7. Almost ready for paint..the white car was the prototype for the other two..I am going to be making the white 69 an early 70's street machine...
  8. Great work!Never have worked with metal.i love the way you went about the conversion...Looking excellent!
  9. This is one of those builds that is so good, that people who do not know it,will think it came out of a kit that way... REALLY,and seriously GREAT work...This one belongs in an off road racing museum...
  10. An update...Decided to build a 1968 Olds camino to sit next to the 69...
  11. A friend of mine,VW DAVE,has had great success with it...he got me a can...cannot wait to try it..i will see if i can get him to post some pics here...
  12. It kills me to see an Olds Cutlass beat up like this, because i love them, but the work is great!Very nicely done....As for the seats,i made some rips a few years ago using masking tape and cotton swab strands...Not perfect, and this could use a lot of tweaking, but here is a pic of my truck seat... Again.beautiful work...
  13. Hey Rick,Mine is a combination of the AMT 69 Olds 442 and the AMT 68 El Camino.I Grafted the rear of the El Camino frame onto the Olds chassis as well...I was thinking of contacting some of the resin body casters to see if there would have been interest, but never got to it..I am currently bringing another body along, that will end up as the 69 ...The older body in the pic will be the 68.. Here you can see the chassis mods...I used the El Camino 12 posi...It has great detail and was made to fit the rails anyway.. Hope to see more progress soon on yours....mine too if my muse ever returns...
  14. This has my interest...i have 2 in the works right now...a 68 and 69....I like the last pic,,,great stance...aggressive look...There was another 66 olds-camino that I found while researching my own conversion back in early 09...I guess we are not alone..GM ought to have built these..Here is an older pic of mine..
  15. Heres my old work truck
  16. Hey Jeff...the wheels you inquired about came from the AMT 1969 Oldsmobile 442 kit. Here is a link to some added detail.. My link
  17. the hood scoop on the H/O was a bit odd in 69,but i want to keep it looking like it might have from the Hurst shop.I plan on doing a 1970 at some point also..
  18. Latest installment of the Olds project...wheel detail...I took the mag wheels from the amt 69 olds kit, drememled out the centers, and then block sanded from the rear till just the trim ring was left. The kits factory stock wheels were then block sanded from the front, and the rings were added. the top left is the AMT mag wheel, the bottom left is the AMT factory stock 442 wheel. In the middle is the trim ring after sanding, and on the far right is the finished factory stock wheel with ring detail added....
