For anyone who hadn't caught it yet,I posted this elsewhere and tried to pawn it off as a real truck for April 1st.This truck is based on one I used to own back in the early 90's and worked like crazy..Great old chevy..It squats for a reason..It wouldn't normally squat so much, even i with this load of wood, but for the broken leaf springs..
-
This truck is on my top favorite list of all time.. Steve was nice enough to send me pics of this build awhile ago on request...Perfect build.

what should i research for the Firebird? You don't have a kit # do you...?I can't seem to find one. As for the truck,well..............
-
I want to replicate cars (and trucks)I used to own. On the list are these two...first is an 84 Firebird that was actually me then girlfriends, and now wife. 2nd is my old 85 Chevy pick up I owned in the 90's. Anyone know what kits i might be able to find (1/25 scale)to replicate these...TIA

I was impressed when i opened mine up the first time.. Gets my vote for one of the best model offerings in the past few years. I like the way the rear wheels and tires look, and don't think you need to raise them up a whole lot.. As for the fronts,i think if you can push them out as wide as you can,and still be in the fenders,it will look great..JMO...I am sure it will look great when you are done.

very nicely done.. The cover looks excellent ..Has a smooth look that fits the style of your street truck.. I love the way the rear tires fill the wells...Very aggressive look.. The one thing i might do if i was going to afix the front wheels permanently, would be to turn them to the left..That would look very aggressive from your front angle. Looking great...

I have attempted doing bmf on a few cars, and haven't gotten the great results i see here..Part of the problem is the garbage quality of my sheet that i bought. What do you all recommend? Secondly,do you all suggest covering the areas to be BMF'd with either a liquid mask,or masking tape prior to paint?.Seems to me this would give you the smoothest surface to work with..I haven't tried this yet..

Lindberg model (one of my next projects!)
mhadman replied to sno_man80's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I just got one of these on the bay too...I cracked it open and it looks to be up to Lindbergs very good quality standards..I am a big fan of a lot of their models..Any missing detail should easily be overcome.. Anyway...I see another off road race truck in my stash..lol -
Here is one thats been on and off since 2004 or so...should try to get her done by July fourth..

perfect!! just enough dirt to show this is a real truck and not a parking lot beauty>> excellent work

Matt has conquered Hot Rods, and now Muscle cars..Wonder if I could ever sway him into doing a Baja racer..lol Just incredible this one is.perfect!!!

Why thank you Gents! Getting compliments from anyone on this board certainly is enough to make any modelers day.. I have noticed this board has attracted the best of the best..I hope i can live up to it someday..lol These particular trucks are kind of a fringe element build. You either like it or you don't..lol The best thing for me about this particular build is that I didn't sacrifice too many good parts to get where it is,and got to use it as a test bed for a few things I wouldn't have normally done. the wheels and tires were the only parts I was hesitant to use, because I know they could have been used better on a project I was more serious about. Anyway, off to other builds...I have some pics and will be posting it completed and "under galss(for real, its going in an old aquarium lol)"

All done but for more pics...will update later this week!

In the home stretch..Added the rear fenders today with support rods.only need to weather it up some and call it done...will get some outdoor pics this weekend..in the dirt!
-
Very NICE.. I hope you get a ton of pics before you give it away...

A happy accident occurred when i finished the front geometry. Some how, when i turn the wheels either way,and lower the "inside"corner of the truck,i get camber change in the front wheels.I am not sure this amount would occur in a real truck at speed, but like the way it looks,so am going to leave it. As for the driver figure,i kind of wish i hadnt nailed down the interior bucket before finishing up the front. There is no way a figure will fit in it now,but i may play with photoshop later..:-) As for the shocks, they are my old stand by...Old TV antenea tube for the bodies..Straight pins for the shafts and evergreen tube for internal spacers, guides, and spring cups. I hate this thing...will be glad when its over..lol

If you can, some shots of it outdoors,on concrete or pavement would be cool....You need to melt down the roof of an old ford car and put it under your truck....Nice work!

Rolling stock

Looking veruy good///i love these things///they must have been crazy to drive...

Thats going to look great planted in the Impala..Your wiring and detail on engines is great. I wish i had remembered to send you all the decals..lol no worry,I will get them on once it gets here.. So now we have the Interior(which came out fantastic)and the engine,(Very nicely done Andy!),the chassis is set up and now we are waiting on the body man..lol I will post many pics once it gets up here...And don't let him kid you,he was happy to take part in this build.. Once it gets to N.Y.,I will be adding all the little chrome bits that might fall off in shipping... Look forward to working on the next one..

The start of something big. March 4/07
mhadman replied to Mr. Can Am Garage's topic in WIP: Dioramas
John, your not really going to make the ladies walk outside and around the building to go potty are you??lol -
That is so cool I love old cemetarys and putting that old car in front is a perfect match...i like that alot!!.. I would like to see a better backdrop for it tho,and it would be hard to tell it wasnt real..Maybe print a dreary cemetary scene on your printer and place it in the back ground.. VERY cool anyway...
-
I hope i see some people on here try it...makes a very cool night light..lol i am going to redo this one...didnt spend alot of time on it..i have a couple other ideas in my head for the others.. Get those old tanks out of storage and lets all see what you can come up with..
-
I built this a few years ago. When my fish died,i had to get rid of the tank before my kids asked for another.(I was the only one to clean out the tank) Anyway,i was working on a desert truck, and the inspiration hit..Since this build,i have picked up 3 more tanks at garagesales for cheap..They make for a great dust free and lighted display for your work.PLENTY of room for imagination. Creative photo cropping makes this a perfect photo op..
