  1. I personally soak all of my resin kits in Wesley's Bleach white over night and scrub with a tooth brush and then I soak in warm water with Dawn for a little while and also scrub with a tooth brush. after that I will start to prep the body. I use Plastic-Kote spot and fill primer. its a lacquer based primer and I mist a few coats on first before applying a heavier coat. Sometime I will fill some of the pin holes in my resin before I primer and other times I shoot primer to see where I need to fill pin holes. Not sure if this has helped at all but I have never worked with a Speed City Resin body.
  2. Michael... I really like the direction you are going with the front end. I think it looks great. this will be a nice build.
  3. Jeff.... this is looking awesome bud!! I love the stance and what you did with the cowl hood. I think it fits this build perfect!! Its great to see you back on this build.
  4. Tyrone... your progress i just awesome bud. man I am loving this build. I like how you have used the styrene rod for the front body bracing that holds up the front end. This thing looks so sweet in primer and the detail to the chassis is just out of this world. You sure have these pro Mods down pat. I seriously think you could build them in your sleep . Keep up the great work and look forward to your next update.
  5. Scott.... I have to give you tons of credit for cutting this body up. You have totally impressed me with the body so far and I think it is spot on to a new pro stock and I love what you have done. Keep going forward with this because I know this build will just be amazing. Nice work buddy!!
  6. Dale... I really love where you are going with this build and I have to give you credit for cutting up the body like you did. But I do think it looks great and looking forward to seeing more progress on this build, its coming along.
  7. Hello Fellas.... Now I know its been a while for an update on this build. Sorry to keep everyone waiting. I have been in California for almost a month visiting family and friends. So needless to say I haven't really gotten to get any bench time in lately. I did bring my Funny car with me to show my parents and a couple of friends. I even brought some supplies in hopes that I would be able to tinker a little on it while up here. Then last weekend while up in my parents house in Redding California. I had to take my dog in for an Emergency surgery. He ended up getting Bloat/Twisted Stomach and needed surgery immedietly. I am just so thankful that there was a 24 hour vet up there and we got him there early from when this started happening with him acting weird. By us getting him to the vet so quickly they were able to save him and fix the twisted stomach. The good news was that he had no damage to any of his organs. The vet told me that if he didn't have the emergency surgery I could of lost him to this. My dog is my buddy and just love him to death. Its amazing how attached we can get to our pets. But I am heading back to Phoenix in a couple of days and when I get back my vet will be taking my boys stitches out. I did want to share just a couple of progress pics. its not much but I have made a tiny bit of progress. I was able to get all of the pin holes filled and the heads prepped with primer. I think I want to lightly scuff with scotch-brite one more time and shoot one last coat of primer before I paint the heads black. I also started on getting some of the pin holes on the block filled and some primer sprayed to check the progress on it. Here is the Heads in primer: Here is one end of the heads with the pin holes filled: Here is the other end of the heads: Here is the start of the block, I still have more work to do on this but wanted to share anyway:
  8. Wow... that is a beautiful Vette. Very nice. I could totally see my Brother John Teresi doing this build.... .... in1/16th scale
  9. Hey Ira.... I have been in California visitng family for the past 3 weeks and I hit up a Hobby shop in Gilroy and found these two and had to pick them up. Hope you don't mind me Hijacking your thread to show you the ones I found. I really want to find that '57 Chevy and if I can a few others like the VWs. I love that '53 Ford Pick up you showed. Here are the two I scored: I am thinking about adding a Cowl Hood on the Camaro as an idea right now
  10. Derrick.... This is off to a great start and I am looking forward to what you will do to this diorama. I know it is gonna be sweet.
  11. Dave... Those wheels are beautiful. They turned out so nice. I have to agree with Scott that they are works of Art. Very nice job on these
  12. Tyrone... You are just killing this build. That detail on the engine is just amazing. Love your work man. I have to agree with Joe here I would love to see what you could do with a 1/16th scale build. You need to jump in with the rest of us building 1/16th scale. I think you will love it once you try one. I am hooked for life on 1/16th scale although I will still build 1/24 1/25 as well as 1/43. Keep up the great work.
  13. Art.... Beautiful work on this Brother. Man it turned out gorgeous and I love the pics. I swear the first one looks like a real car. Now if I can only build as fast as you and John do....lol you got me wondering since you said John could build 3 in that time frame, I wonder how many he has built in the time I have been working on my 1/16th F/C.....haha looking forward to your next build.
  14. Brad.... Am excited to see another build on your bench. This I'd looking great so far. Nice work on the chassis. Looking forward to more.
  15. I have to agree with Carl paint the wheels with an off white and I remember them winning that spoiler in an episode too... Lol Rodney is is looking great. Keep up the good work. I do have to be honest that I almost like the steelies you had mocked up in a previous post a tad better. I guess i think it fits the truck better.
  16. Dave.... I am super excited to see you back on this build. I have been waiting for some updates and you sure didn't let me down. I sure love your work and I am looking forward to more. Everything is a masterpiece by it's self. I sure can't wait for your next update.
  17. Wow.... I love the look of this the paint and stance is Bad A$$! The surfboards and rack look amazing. Very nice work!
  18. Very cool thread Virgil. I have a buddy of mine that has a Makerbot replicator 2 and they run $2,200.00. I was planning on drawing up a couple of parts and having him print them for me so I can see the quality of print. I would love to have a 3D printer one day but will be great to follow the prices on these. Just like computers I am sure prices will drop over time.
  19. Ray that is lookong great man. Nice work so far.
  20. Rodney... i hope I didn't blow the suprise of this build. AZN is one crazy guy on the show...lol I have to agree with you that I dont think AZN knows how to turn a wrench...haha i am looking forward to more updayes on thia build.
  21. Thanks James.... I may have to pick ul one of theae kits now lol
  22. James.... This is a great looking build. I am digging it. Which kit is this that you started with? I have picked up a AMT '53 Ford pick up to make it look like my buddies '55 that he has.
  23. Rodney... This is coming along great. The paint looks spot on. Looking forward to seeing the motor. To the others AZN is the side kick of Farm Trucks driver. You need to watch the show street outlaws and you will understand Rodney's story along with this build. Keep up the great work on this one Rodney.
  24. Mike... Thanks for,the info on SAS. I will have to check them out sometime. I had a few coworkers from previous companies I worked at tell me about Tempe Sales and Mesa Sales which are other fabric shops that carry all kinds of things. Randy.... Thank you for the props on the seat. James.... I haven't made much more progress than what's seen here. I have been busy with my 1/16th scale funny car. But I am itching to getting some more work done on this pick up. I am out in California at the moment visiting family and hope to get some more work on this soon when I get back home. My next steps in this build are to get the gas and brake pedal made then work on the steering colum and steering wheel done. Then the interior is pretty much done other than I am trying to figure out a fix the speedo gauges. Richard.... This build was supposed to only take me a month or two just to be a quick curbside build but I have been focusing more on my other build at the moment. I haven't even tried test fitting the glass on mine. I will have to see if I have the same issue that you have. My initial though is using some micro scales Krystal Klear.... It's. a white glue that dries completely clear. I am not sure how much of a gap you have but it may work
  25. Jim... I do appreciate you giving that path that allowed me to get rid of the ads. Ray... Thank you buddy Joe... Thank you very much for the kind words. I have been trying to make each piece of this build the best that I can Well fellas.... I Wanted to give you an update. I haven't had much build time for the past two weeks, actually haven't been at the hobby bench at all. I am actually in California visiting family but I did bring the funny car to work on. I do have the heads just about ready for paint. I have filled all of the pin holes and need to add another coat or two of primer and they are ready to go. I also have started working on the engine block with filling pin holes. I will be doing a little bit of work on this later today and hopefully have a few progress pics to share later.
