  1. LOL Danno... I primered my seat in my '57 Stepside I am working on...lol
  2. Hey Scott... I may have some hood pins in my 1/25th stuff. I know I had a set from S&S Specialties when they were around many years ago. I will get a pic if I can find it. Also on the seat belt material, Ribbon would work ok but from what I have seen there is one brand of medical tape that seems to look he best for the material for the restraints. I believe its a Johnson and Johnson brand. I just looked at the different medical tapes that I have and the Johnson & Johnson and 3M have ones that are really similar but the J&J has a tighter pattern. if you want I can take pics of them as well for you.
  3. Danny... Thank you for following along with this build. No worries about the building part I will be bulding for a long time. I love his hobby. I have a list of 17 builds I want to do after this and 10 of them are 1/16th scale. plus I have alot of other unbuilt kits from 1/43rd scale to one 1/12th scale. As of right now 1/16th is my favorite scale to build in but I do like to do a variety of other builds too.
  4. I think I like #1 the best. They all look great though but I like how the lines flow on #1
  5. I take it there was no fire extinguisher in the car??
  6. Art... Thanks Brother!!! I really would love to have this build done way before then but I think its a very achievable goal to have done by October. I am at a point where I should be able to paint the chassis next week as well as the front axle and a few other parts that will go black. I need to do some final sanding and priming on the front axle and it will be ready for some Alclad.
  7. Leo... thanks man... I can't wait to have it done as well James... sorry it's taken me a little time to get back to you. I have actually been focusing a little more on my 1/16th scale funny car build lately, But I dusted this kit off tonight and pulled it back out. I got to a point on my funny car where I needed a little break from it. It felt good to get back on this build. I did one thing tonight trying to fix the frame because it had a twist in it and when the bed was on it, it was leaning more towards the passenger side. So I had a bright Idea of getting a hair drier and heating it up to bend it so it would fix the problem. Doing this I actually jacked up the frame and I heated it way too much and it warped the frame. Luckily I had a 55 cameo kit that was still sealed and I had to rob the frame from it to fix what I messed up. The seat is ready for a final primer coat and I need to get some primer on the dash. I am hoping to have some updated pics up tomorrow ( i guess its actually today since its past midnight . I honestly think I can knock this build out in maybe two weeks....well I hope anyway lol Larry... Thanks man. I am definitely going with the leopard print for this build. I think it is the best choice for how I am doing this build and hoping that it will pop with the blue that the body will be.
  8. Its looking great.... nice work
  9. Salam.... Thank you for the kind words. I guess I see small flaws since I am always looking at is run my opti visor lol
  10. Steve... Thank you. The angle that I used was Evergreen part no. 293 .100" angle (equivalent to 1-1/2" angle). You could also use part no 294 which is 1/8" angle (equivalent to 2" angle). I won't lie I am a little tired of drilling all those holes lol. I am planning on painting the tins HOK black base with no clear. John... My big brother, thanks for the encouragement. I am so burnt of the tins at the moment...lol Bob... Thanks for the kind words. I have been challenging myself to take my building to the next level and so far I am happy with how's it's turning out. Dave... Thank you. I am planning on making a build book that I will display with the model for anyone who wants to see how it was build. I may break it down into two books because of how many pics I have taken of it lol Bill... Thanks buddy... Yeah my eyes are a little cross eyed at the moment. I think I am gonna take a break from this build tonight and do a little work on my '57 Chevy step side I am doing as a curbside build. I need a little change of pace at the moment lol
  11. Johnny boy.... that Interior looks killer my brother!!! . I am curious as well what you used for them. Keep on truckin' with this bud!! seeing this is making me want to finish my rad rod project i started before the F/C.
  12. Steve.... Thanks for the kind words. The last thing I want my builds to do here, is to discourage people. I am hoping it is more of an inspiration and just learning from one another. There are many builders here who inspire me and who I look up to that make me want to build better. Well I finally finished most of the rivets. there is a little work that still needs to be done with the firewall and dash but will get to those at a later time. I think I need a break from this tin work...lol Here are a couple pics to share with everyone. Thanks for looking... Here is the tins with the side panels completed with rivets, I still need to glue the rivets in and trim them on the back side: And of course I had to put the tin work into the body and take a look at it and see how it looks mocked up, I know its not perfect but I have to say I am happy with how it looks and has turned out so far: Ohhhh Danno.... I counted the rivets for ya so you didn't have to.... so far there are 141 Rivets in this tin work .... ....
  13. Scott... Thanks brother. Yeah the more I look at this tin the better I like the smaller rivet. The shank is the same side on both of these rivets it was just the diameter of the head that was different. I would like to be done with this tin work it been time consuming lol
  14. Danno... Are you counting the rivets already . I will definitely take it to that show. My goal is to have it done for the citrus nationals in October out in So Cal but hopefully I will have it done before then. I am hoping to possibly paint the chassis later this week if not it will be early next week.
  15. Ed... thanks man, I was kind of thinking the same thing with the .7mm ones. I need to buy 2 packages of the brass ones in that size because my plan and from my reference pics, it looks like they were painted. I also think that super glue will grab to the brass better. Here is a shot of where I got last night. I almost got all of the holes drilled but I got tired and quite last night. I will be finishing them up this morning:
  16. This is another great build!
  17. John.... Those front end pieces are just awesome and look killer. Nice work bud!
  18. I have another quick update/teaser pic for you. Well as I have mentioned the drilling of the holes is time consuming and wanted to show where I am at with the tins. I sorta took a little break earlier and have started back up on it. I have put two different rivet sizes .8mm dia head (Brass) & .7mm dia. head (Stainless). I haven't figured out which I should go with on the final part when its all said and done. The .8mm is equal to .031" and 1:1 is equivalent to a .496" (1/2") dia. head and the .7mm is equal to .027" and the 1:1 is equivalent to .432" (7/16") dia head. Take a look land let me know what you think of the two.... I have gotten more holes drilled, I still have a ways to go and the two items to the right of the tin work is the pattern for the holes. I drilled them on a separate piece of stock and then use it as a template to transfer drill the holes:
  19. Brad... Thanks buddy.... I am getting more excited about getting this tin work done. Drilling these holes are a little time consuming but I am hoping to have most of it done tonight then I can finish up the body work on the tins so it will be close to being done for paint. Mike.... thanks bud....this tin has been a little bit of a chore... Danno.... I think someone tagged my tin work... Ray.... thanks for taking the time to look thru the many pages. I know there is alot to thumb thru. Thank you for the kind words
  20. John... thanks big brother, its coming along Scott... Thanks bud, right now what I am working on is somewhat time consuming but will be worth it.... Here is a sneak peek at what I am working on...... Adding Rivets to the tin work, Rivets are from Scale Hardware and I have many more to drill before I am done....lol
  21. John... this body is sure shaping up and looking good. this is going to be ready for paint in no time at all.
  22. Larry... Thanks. I can't wait to have the fabrication all done on this tin work and have it in primer. Ron... thank you. I am trying to approach each piece as its own little model to make this the best build I have done to date and to challenge myself as well.
  23. Danny... I forgot to mention that I love the stance you have for this build. It looks killer.
  24. Niko..... that dash is beautiful my friend. I love every bit of detail you have put into it. it is clean and looks great!!
  25. Dave.... thanks bud!! I think I got it to fit as good as I could...lol I am ready for the tin work to be done Brett... Thanks buddy, I appreciate the kind words it helps for some motivation considering that I am sorta burnt out on this tin work but just have a little more to go on it. Well I was able to get to the bench tonight and do a little more work on this tins. I got the outer lip made for the rear of the tins and I will be working on drilling holes for the rivets and sanding the tin work prepping for some primer soon. here is what I was able to finish tonight... I added the rear lip on the two corner sections: Right Side, I still have some sanding and filling work to do: Left Side, Little bit of work left to do on this side as well: Here is the rear of the tin sitting in the body:
