Hey Steve... I still owe you pics of my iron and what the wattage is. I will get that info for you tomorrow (actually later today). I am heading to bed. Darryl... Thanks mate! Trust me I was going cross eyed myself. Sad thing is I still have more to add to the dash of the tin work lol. Well Fellas... I sat at the bench for a short time tonight and was working on the seat. I had sprayed it earlier this week and wasn't happy with it so I had sanded it back down tonight Sprayed some more black wasn't happy again and threw it in a bottle of lacquer thinner to completely strip it and start back from the bare metal. I sanded it all up prepping it for primer and decided to call it a night after I got two coats of primer on it. I will pick it back up tomorrow and hopefully will have some pics of it painted to share as well as getting this chassis sanded for paint. Until tomorrow.... stay tuned -
Alyn... you know I never did consider painting the knobs blue. That may not be a bad idea at all and I really like the idea of that. Here is the reference picture I was sort of basing this build off of. But you really have me thinking about the blue knobs now. I still have some of the base mixed up that I could easily paint the matching blue.. Maybe I need to try and see how it looks...lol

That is one sweet ride.... I am totally digging it and looks great! Nice Job....Viva La Rust!! -
Alyn.... Thank you. I am really digging the two tone with it. I still need to add some Bare Metal Foil, add a black wash to the glove box and ash tray as well as paint the knobs Alclad Chrome. Richard... Thank you James.... Thanks man... I can't wait to do a little more to it. Niko... Thanks for the compliment my friend. Hoping to get more progress done on it later today.

I would personally talked to Jim at Micro Nitro and have him Turn some custom wheels for it
-
Mark... those front wheels are looking great. I can't wait to see them finished. your skills and attention to detail just amaze me. I can't wait to this as a rolling chassis. going to be killer!
-
Danny.... I have to tell you when I was originally looking at #5 it crossed my mind of what it would look like with silver where the white was and even making that section look like metal panels with rivets. Going with flat military colors would be cool too. That hood is looking great. I love the reverse scoop you have added for the air intake,

Ever put a model away for a while

Rob... I feel your pain and have been there on my current 1/16th Scale Army Vega F/C build. I have been pretty much only on this build for the past 2-1/2 years and to date I have 800 hours into this build. About a week ago I pulled out a curbside build I started at the beginning of the year to get a change of pace going. Don't get me wrong I am having a blast building this Funny Car but as much detail things I am scratch building for it, I needed a little break from it. I can't tell you how many things I have redone once or twice on this build because I wasn't happy with some of the parts the first go around...lol I am in the process of trying to get the chassis sanded so I can finally get paint on the chassis this week and its so dang time consuming to sand and prep the chassis the way I am doing it but I know the time will be worth it for the paint to lay down nice on it. I am also like some of the others that have posted here where you are always thinking of things you want to do to a build or how you will do something. I have had many nights where I toss and turned trying to fall asleep because I was thinking how I was going to do the next thing to my build. Dave... Nice '64 Impala. it looks great! -
Hey Jesse.... I spray a lot of HOK and PPG paints personally on my builds. In my Opinion you can't go wrong with using base coat/clear coat paints. I got turned onto them many years ago... probably back in 1991/1992. A good friend of the family who paints real cars for a living got me hooked on automotive paints. For all of my paint jobs either using House of Kolor or PPG's base. I have cleared them with PPG's Concept 20/20 clear, I have also used the Concept 2001 before too. You will find that you should be able to use any Urethane Clear on them. I have been purchasing my HOK paints from a company called Smart Shoppers Inc.... web site is www.smartshoppersinc.com . They used to carry a bunch of HOK in Air Brush Bottles (4 oz) that was packaged directly from HOK and not like the few companies that will pour them out for you them self. Also these colors from HOK are mixed 2:1 (2 parts paint to 1 part reducer) I personally use RU 311 and RU312. Depending on the temperature out you will use different reducers. In lower temperatures you will use a faster reducer and in High temps you want a slower reducer. I bought some Urethane clear from them to try out about a year or more ago and the brand is Kirker Automotive finishes its a pre-reduced clear where you just have to add the Activator to it. A quart of this clear is $24.00 and the Activator is $9.00 for a half pint. this paint is mixed 4:1 (4 parts clear to 1 part Activator). I still have yet to use this clear to see how it sprays and how I like it compared to the PPG 20/20 I like to shoot. but the PPG paint is mixed 4:1:1.... 4 parts paint to 1 part reducer to 1 part hardner and the cost is a lot more so I was looking into some alternatives for my models. Sorry to get off track but you were asking about the SG100 from HOK.... that is a Inner Coat Clear and I won't ever go with out it when I am doing paint jobs that are multiple colors. The inner coat clear is shot on just like any of the base coats. you can spray a few coats and let it flash off and you can start taping off for your other colors. The nice thing with the Inner coat clear is that it will not leave any tape tack (tape lines) in the paint and you won't get any bleed thru. Once done shooting your colors you will need to clear it with a Urethane Clear. Here is what I copied and pasted right off Smarts Shoppers website on the SG100 Inner Coat clear Intercoat clear is designed for use as a protective clear for artwork tape outs on Shimrin basecoats. It prevents permanent tape markings and protects metallic surfaces when artwork is planned. SG100 may be used to blend Shimrin pearls and metallic basecoats and to mix pearl liquid and Kandy concentrates for use in door jambs or as added effects on a paint job. This clear must be top coated. Here is a link directly to House of Kolors website to find General Information: http://www.houseofkolor.com/ You can also find information on Smart Shoppers Inc as well If you have more questions feel free to ask. I know there are many other great modelers here on this forum that uses HOK paints and we all probably have our own little tricks with using these paint. I hope that I didn't overload you with too much information to confuse you.
