  1. I use alot of ppg dbc and house of kolor base coat and ppg urathane clear on my builds for the body and far as tapes go I use 3M fine line. i used to use 3m masking blue or green from the auto body store but recently.have been using more of the Tamiya tape. I find with tamiya tape it doesnt leave as big of an edge. abother thing that I have been totally turned onto when painting bodies with multiple color is after each base coat I spray I lay down a couple coats of inner coat clear. this helps to prevent any bleeding of color as well as no residue from the tap. this stuff works great if you never have tried it.
  2. Ken you have me totally blown away by this build. you have some amazing scrarch building skills. the detail and everything looks great. will you be up in april for the Desert Scale Classic? would love to see your builds in person.
  3. I have always enjoyed building Pro Streets, Muscle Cars, Drag Cars, & customs. Right now I am on a 1/16th scale Drag Racing kick and loving the bigger scale.
  4. Thanks everyone for the kind comments. Its much appreciated and it felt great to.be back at the bench. Cant wait to work on it some more later when I get home.
  5. Charlie... those are awesome. may I ask Cost on them and how many do you have in stock. also when would you have more avaliable? I know i am ibterested in a couple of each. pluss i need to make a list and order some parts from you.
  6. Rom sounds great but sounds like Dave is already on it. Dave you are awesome man. I will have to wait for those for sure. I picked up one of the rear end members that you gave details for TDR to draw up and man it is very nice. Thank you in advance for being willing to get the details to TDR and making them avaliable to us.
  7. Hey Rom... I thought I saw that Charlie at Pro Tech is looking into doing some 1/16th scale carbs I think they are in the works but not done yet. I may have seen it on his website saying coming soon. But you are right that we do need a source for these. if I had some half way decent pics of them and some pretty good dimensions I could draw one up in a 3D model and have TDR/Shapeways run them on their rapid prototype machine.
  8. Scott & Tyrone... thanks for the congrats on the new job. Brad... sounds good about the kitchen pass. I still have that paint waiting for you as well. Ok so after looking at my time card I have been keeping on this build. It has been a month since I last worked on it. But tonight I ended that non-build streak. I sat down at the bench tonight and made some more progress on the chassis. Felt great to get back on this build. Anyway I know you all have been waiting for an update and here are some pics for you. I started out tonight by removing some more of the original chassis to make room where the oil blow off tube will connect to the chassis as well as fix the support tubes to look like the real car: Next, I worked on making the oil blow off tube connections. I cut them long for gluing purposes and I will go back tomorrow and trim them down once the glue is fully cured. and the black heat shrink tubing is there for mock up purposes. I have been debating on what type of line I was going to use for the oil blow off tubes and I am really debating on using aluminum rod and putting heat shrink tubing on and shrinking it down on it. I think it will give me the look I am going for on the hose: After getting the blow off port into the chassis, I started adding the support tubes back to the chassis starting with the vertical tubes: Then I added the cross bracing tubes next: As I was working on the previous parts and looking at my reference pics I noticed that the front cross tube was going the opposite direction of how it was supplied in the kit. With everything else I had to cut it out to make it go the right direction: I know this may not seem like I made a lot of progress but It felt great to be working on it again. Now I still have a couple more items I need to do for the refab work. I need to add in a mounting tab for the break lever, mounting tab for the gas pedal, a mounting tab for the steering gear box and then another tab for the steering rod that runs down the side of the chassis. once I get those there is a little filing on a part and add a little bondo to a few spots and should be ready for primer.
  9. Tyrone... man this build is off the charts. I sure have missed alot here. You sure have all of these pro mods down that for sure. I need to take notes for when I do my 1/16th scale pro mod build. I do have to ask you where did you get the front rims. they look like they are aluminum and look great too. Keep up the awesome work on this and I look forward to your next update.
  10. I just received my order today. Sure going to miss them being in business. I am thinking of making another order...lol
  11. Thank you Brad... I appreciate it. we will need to meet up one of these weekends. Ok off to get some bench time in well after I make some dinner
  12. This is too Cool....and going to be an awesome build. Nice work so far!!
  13. So the good news that I mentioned yesterday which I can now tell you now. I have been offered a new position with a new company. So that means no 70/80 hour work weeks 6/7 days a week and I will have more time for my builds and life in general. last night I sat at the bench pretty much staring this build thinking of the things I need to finish up on the chassis and then from.my reference pics I noticed that I will have to modify the front part of the chassis ever so slightly to get the oil blow off tubes to attach the.chassis in the correct location. it will be a simple fix but one of those things i didnt notice until now. any way hoping tobmake some progress with it later tonight.
  14. Count me in as one who placed an order on 2/2. I talked with Becky and she said that they would fill the orders in as fast as they could and its a first come first ordered how they are doing it. I know I haven't seen my card get any charges yet for the order but I know that when they get to it they will. I have pre ordered a few of the 1/16th decals as well and know they weren't going to be ready until march sometime.
  15. John.... Wow man is all I can say. I sure have missed a lot of progress on this build. You are doing an outstanding job my friend. This is too cool of a build. Your detail always blows me away. I know the paint is going to be killer. Looking forward to seeing more.
  16. John... I can't believe how many views this has....lol I have a feeling Rom may beat me to finish first since I have see him making some great progress on his Pro Mod. But I can say that I will be getting more build time in here really soon.
  17. Joe... Looking great man. Love the work you are doing. the detail for the doors looks great and once you move the hinge point further out, you should be good to go and get that gap closed up on the front clip like you want. keep up the great work. I sure enjoy watching this build come together.
  18. Holy Smokes .... I was guessing half of what it was for the 1/8th scale one. I sure want one in 1/16th scale though.
  19. Andy... awesome score on the harbor freight stuff. gotta love some of the deals they have. i would highly recommend a respirator when painting. I personally use a 3M brand that i got from the auto body supply store i get my PPG paint from. i spent about 30 bucks on mine. I also suggestone from a auto.body supply store because they are a little different.from.ones.you see at home depot or lowes. The biggest difference is the filter cartridge that is in them.
  20. Hey everyone.... wanted to drop a note and say Hi. Sorry I haven't been able to get much done on this lately due to work. I am hoping to maybe sit down for a few tonight and do a little work. so If I am lucky I may have a few pics to share later. But wanted to let you all know I have some good news to share with you but it will have to wait til tomorrow. Jack... I still owe you a PM as well. Bill I feel bad that I haven't been able to have any updates lately but soon I promise soon.
  21. Rom... Man you are doing a wonderful job with all of this and you are killing this build. Keep up the awesome work. All of your hard efforts are sure showing with this build. You have some skills man!! Hey Jim... would it help you if I created a drawing for the calipers for you?? I could also send you the 3D model too. I should have extra time on my hands here really soon. I could probably design it so the caliper in is 2 pieces and the halves could be done basically the same with a couple of small details different. Let me know what I can do to help.
  22. Great update and looking good Rick. It's nice to see more progress being done to this build. your craftmanship is outstanding.
  23. Very Nice looking builds you got there. they are gorgeous. very clean work as well. welcome to the boards. I look forward to seeing more of your builds.
  24. This is a great looking build. very nicely done.
  25. Jack I will PM you my addy. Ok call me dumb but I am not sure what OTB stands for. I am drawing a blank. I think work has killed a few brain cells from all of the stress on me. lol Art.... It was a pleasure meeting and talking with you at the NNL's I can't wait to see more of that Vette you had in progress there. She is going to be a beauty for sure. Nice work on it so far. Gregg.... you are onto me Mate about the Med....LOL hahaha. Thanks for the compliments. You know on the multipiece DZUS fasteners, I believe it was from Replicas & Miniatures. I know I have a set somewhere. They aren't functional but are multipiece. I still haven't had a chance to get any bench time in but if I am lucky I may get a few mins in tonight if I can. I sure miss building and not working on this for the past 3 weeks is starting to drive me bonkers. I have that itch to build.
