1/16th Hot Wheels FED Prudhomme and McEwen
Mooneyzs replied to rckymtn3's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Very Nice. I tried looking for these on his website and wasn't able to to find them or the price for them. I saw a set of each on ebay and they went for some big money if I remember correct. They would be great to add to my collection though -

Hey Ken, The Desert Scale Classic is on April 21 and the location is the Postal Workers Social Hall, 3720 W. Green Way Road, Phoenix. Would be awesome if you could make it. Its about 6 weeks or more away. Your build is sure coming along and looking great with the paint on it. Nice work! -

Hey Rom.... I don't know if its just me but I am not able to see all of the pics you posted in your last two posted. I just see a note from photobucket saying this image exceeds bandwidth with too many views. strange. guess I will try looking up on my cell phone. -
1/16 Scale Army Vega Funny Car - Finished 10/14/2018
Mooneyzs replied to Mooneyzs's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Art... Thanks buddy!! Actually today is my last day of my current job. I start the new job on Monday. I wish I had a week in between but its ok since I won't miss a week of pay . I need to give you a call when I get some time. Bill... I can't tell you how bad I want to see primer on this as well . I have what I think are just a few more things I need to do on the chassis. the first being getting the gas pedal mount tubes/tabs and the mounting tabs/tubes for the steering gear box. Seems I have had a little bit of a builders block on how I want to do it since I haven't been able to find and reference pics. -
What are the best types of airbrushes?
Mooneyzs replied to Kaleb's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Gabriel... I just picked up one of the Iwata brand Neo gravity feed air brushes yesterday from Hobby Lobby with the 40% of coupon. I have been looking for something other than my Badger Model #200 and my Devilbis mini HVLP gun that I use. I am planning on pretty much using the gravity feed airbrush for my Alclad paints since they ready to spray and I don't want to waste much of the paint when its dumped into a 3/4 or 2oz jar, as well as for smaller pieces I would paint. -
These are some great dioramas everyone. Sure makes me want to do one someday.

1/16 Scale Army Vega Funny Car - Finished 10/14/2018
Mooneyzs replied to Mooneyzs's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Dave... Thanks Bud. I also wanted to ask of this era do you happen to know the different styles of gas pedals that were used? I am trying to figure out what the best way to do it is and since none of my reference pics show it, I am sorta taking a guess at it. Charlie... Thanks man. I think I am at the point I could build frames in my sleep..... instead of counting sheep, I count frames....haha Rom... The lenco tranny from TDR can be build as an air shifter or a manual with levers and it will be done up with the levers Jeff.... thanks for checking in man Derrick... thanks buddy. Hows that Pro Mod of yours coming along. I have missed seeing progress on it. I am hoping to get some build time in this weekend and will update with pics when I can. And next week I start my new job which means I will have alot of build time during the week now so stay tuned -

California Charger F.E.D. update
Mooneyzs replied to vintagedragfan's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Bill... It has been on my mind for the past year to get a lathe. I was only planning on going with the smaller ones to be able to do parts for these 1/16th scale builds of mine. I know I couldn't afford a full size lathe but a small lathe and end mill would be perfect- 369 replies

Hello Rckymtn.... first off I would like to say welcome back here and second I would like to say thank you for the kind words about my Army Vega build. I have to first say that I pretty much grew up at the Baylands in Fremont. My dad used to pit on a top alcohol dragster team. I am sure this name will ring a bell but the team we were on was the San Paolo Bros "Speghetti Bender". My dad wrenched with them from before I was born and until I was about 13. I do have to ask if you remember that car and seeing that you have pics of cars, would you by chance have any pics of the Speghetti Bender. I have been trying to see if my mom has any from back in the day because i am really wanting to build a 1/16th scale of it if I can. As far as your other requests. I have the body and decals from slixx to do the Mike Sulivan's Fiat Altered. One of the guys that post here and his name is Mike Garland, what a great guy he is. I have talked with him many of times and I know he has built the Mike Sullivan car and I believe he has pics of it as well as I know he personally was talking with Mike Sullivan as he was building it. so I know he has a great insight of this build. I know that Mike was going to get me some pics to help me with the build since it is my que of 1/6th scale builds I am wanting to do. I am sure he will be more than happy to help. for the others I don't have too much info on the cars I may have a few photos that I have saved off the internet. I also have a few different drag racing books in my collection that I can see if there any good photos and take pics of the pages if there are for you. Those JT-Graphics kits I recently have seen on Ebay and they look like a great kit. I would love to add them to my collection as well. Anyway welcome again and I look forward to seeing some of your builds. Especially the 1/16th scale ones, its the kick I am on and will be on for quite a while. lol

Pick My Next Build
Mooneyzs replied to mp_101airborne's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I had to go with the El Camino. I personally own a 1:1 1971 El Camino that has been in the family since 1973. My dad got it before i was born and I took it over when I was 16... which was 20 years ago. -
California Charger F.E.D. update
Mooneyzs replied to vintagedragfan's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Bill... I couldn't agree more with John.... I didn't realize that this was your first time scratch building and machining all of these parts. I have been wanting a mini lathe and end mill but after seeing what you have done. It makes me want to get them now. I have been debating on what to go with and how much I want to spend. Its either the Shurline or the ones from Micro Marks. One day i would like to own one of them. anyway back to your build. I am seriously blown away and would love to see this build in person. Keep up the great work.- 369 replies
