  1. Brad... Looking good buddy. I can't wait to see it in person in a few weeks... I have shot my fair share of bolts across the table and onto the floor. Just the other day I lost two during my pedal build...lol
  2. Count me in as one that is always using a respirator when I spray my models.... well I guess I should be a little more clearer... I personally spray mostly automotive brand paints on my models... PPG and House of Kolor to be exact. But when I rattle can parts I don't typically wear my mask then. But what I will suggest to everyone who wants a respirator with the filter cartridges for spraying paints is to buy one from and Auto Body supply store and not from Home Depot or Lowe's. You may ask why not to buy the ones at home depot or lowes and the reason is I was speaking with the PPG shop I get my paints from and the one guy I typically deal with for my paints I was asking him and he was telling me that the filter cartridges are not the same. There are different filters for different applications. I think I picked up my respirator for around 25 or 30 bucks from the shop I go to.
  3. John... Very Impressive work on the chassis. You are always blowing me away by you skills man. Keep up the killer work!
  4. Well everyone ..... I have sorta had modelers block the past few days and haven't been able to work on this build. I am still a little stuck as to how I want to mount this puke tank and all. I am so close to having the chassis buttoned up that I am letting this keep me from it at the moment. I am hoping to work on it tomorrow. I am sure everyone was hoping for some updates. Hopefully I will have something tomorrow for you. Thanks for following along.
  5. Tyrone.... awesome job man. That fuel pump is sweet. This thing is really coming together. All I can say is that you have these build down. I would love to see you dive in to a 1/16th scale build
  6. Clay ... Thank you for sharing the lathe and mill with us. I really have been wanting to pick one of each up myself and have been going back and forth over the sherline and micro mark machines. I keep keaning towards the sherline. i am looking forward to seeing more progress with this build.
  7. Bill... that is just gorgeous work my friend! Great Job!
  8. Rom.... that car looks beautiful with the clear on it. Great work man!! I am loving it!!!
  9. Welcome to the boards here Clay!!! Been a big fan of your work for quite some time. I know one thing, this is going to be awesome to watch come together. I am also excited that you are doing a 1/16th scale as well. I will be following along all the way for sure. Seeing more Pro Mod builds sure makes me want to finish up my 1/16th Army Vega F/C so I start my Pro Mod and join everyone. Your build is off to a great start and looks awesome so far. I do have to ask what brand of lathe & Mill do you use?
  10. I just had my LHS give me a call to let me know that a new issue of MCM came in today and they will be holding me a copy which I will pick up tomorrow after work. Guess it must be the contest issue.... Can't wait to see the new issue.
  11. Bill... It would be awesome if you were able to be there. would love to meet you and see your builds in person. Especially the California Charger.... she is a beauty! Keith.... You know I may have to take that advice and try that. I am also on Snakes racing page on Facebook and may try there as well Its a great idea you had. Nothing wrong with putting a build on hold for a while and waiting until you are ready. Glad to hear you are still building models. Its awesome how much you can learn from other people here. we have a great group and many talented builders.
  12. Darryl...this build is off the hook and looking great. i cant wait to see what you do for paint and display. you do great work
  13. Keith.... Those are some Killer videos man. Thank you so much for sharing them on here. Love seeing both of them and love the sound of the Vega when it leans out and shuts off. And no worries what so ever, I never once thought it was criticism by any means. And I was asking the question on it and wanted peoples honest opinion because I want to build this the best I possibly can. I made a total assumption on how the puke tank was plummed and what it really looked like since the view I had was what you seen above. I did notice on another one of Don's Cars I believe it was his Cuda car had the puke tank with the exits for the tubes from the chassis where i have them. I just thought that's how they might be since there were other cars I found like that in that era. But I have to agree with you that in the "enhanced" pic you can't see any hoses coming into the tank as well as the lines off the engine go to the lower chassis tubes versus the top like most. I am looking forward to chatting with at the Desert Scale Classic. thanks again for posting the videos I know I will be going back many times to watch them. now I know what i will have to do for the roof hatch. I am seriously thinking of writing Snake racing and seeing if there is any way to get pics with a body off a to possibly see some of the details. I am going to have to find a contact on there and from what i have looked at and found so far is just an email to order things but I figured it is worth a shot. The worst they can say is No.
  14. Rom... That Jacket is Killer. Nice job on that. I love it that you added a zipper was going to ask what you used and you already answered that. Very Nice job man. It looks great and what an awesome job you did on it. You keep amazing me on this build...lol
  15. Something is just telling me real on this one.
  16. Bill thank you for letting me know what you used. I need to see if I have some of that .015 thick aluminum and If I don't I will need to pick some up for my brake and chute levers.
  17. Hey Guys Thanks for the kind words and advice. Here is the reference picture that I have been going by. I edited one so you could see the one tab a little better. But I do have to agree with you Keith that it would of had to of been easy access to remove for maintenance. So this pic is the only real reference I have been going by. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks! Original Pic: Edited Pic to see puke take mount better:
  18. Thanks guys!! it feels good to almost have this tank done. I am really pleased with how it turned out. I think the more I have looked at it the more I have liked it. Just trying to figure out how to completely mount it since from my reference pick I can only see one mounting tab up top and not sure if there is one or two on the bottom side. I may just have to go with what I think looks best.
  19. Awesome job on the Jacket Rom.... Loving all of the details you keep putting in to this build. I also like that you put yourself as the driver. I was thinking the same thing on my Pro Mod build Guess we think alike . Keep up the killer work!
  20. Bill.... Awesome job on the Gas Pedal and Break handle.. I am loving both of them... did you use printing plate or k&S aluminum sheet? and how thick?. and is that real wood on the handle too?. Keep up the awesome work.
  21. Jack... Very Impressive and it looks killer. Great idea on how you used the angle bracket. I like it.
  22. Ok now time for an update for you guys. This afternoon I have been working on the Puke tank for this build. The mounting tabs is about one of the last things I need to do to the chassis as well as clean a few areas up on the chassis and It should be ready for some primer. Here is the start of my Puke Tank. I started out with some evergreen tubing and some flat stock to create the tank: Then the next step was to drill the tube and add the ports to the tank using more tubing: After that I needed to add a breather to the tank and I am using one of the Resin ones I have from one of my Mark Johnson 426 Elephant Hemi engines. Drilled mounting holes and mounted them with Scale Hardware 0.5mm bolts: Next I needed to add a filler port....well actually more like a drain port to the tank. I added another piece of evergreen tubing and for the cap is a machined aluminum cap I found at a swap meet: After all of that I had to set it in place and mock it up on the car. And I am actually working on the mounting portions of this to the frame. Still figuring out how I want to do it: I am debating if the mounting tabs should be on the bottom or the upper side of the tank. I have seen a few different ones online and trying to figure which is best to do. I am sure there isn't a wrong way. but have any of you seen how some of them were mounted on the cars from the 70's. I have been having a hard time finding some good reference pics.
  23. John...Thanks Man... glad you are liking the pedal. Nikko.... Thanks bud. I have a sneak peak at whats up next for ya... Bill... Thank you!! You are right one more step closer. Now I just need a lathe like you... Jeff... Thanks for checking in man and seeing the progress... thanks for kind words, it means alot. Jack... thanks man. Some of the bolts which i have threaded I am using Scale hardware's tools and some I am actually using pliers or tweezers depending on what it it. Not all of the bolts are threaded some are simulated and are just placed into the hole. I meant to take a few pics of them for you. I will on my next update for you. Yeah that LED page has a ton of stuff on there for sure. Thought maybe it could help ya with what you are trying to accomplish with you Mini diorama and case. I know it will look great! but know what you mean about how Flouresent's can alter some colors. Richard.... thanks man. You are right that I need some primer on this bad boy. I am really close to having some on it. after I finish up a few things from today I think something this coming week I should be able to get primer on it. Which will be a big step I have been waiting for, for quite some time. Michael... Thanks for the compliments on the build. Anything is possible to do, just some of it takes quite a bit of patience is all. Oh man don't feel lame about using the pedal. I was going to use the pedal but I had changed how i was going to mount it and decided to go with something different since I had no reference pics of the real cars pedal that it had installed. Wish I was able to see what is actually in the real car.
  24. Holy smokes Dave.... those are looking awesome my friend. Great Job on these. I am looking forward to seeing more on these
  25. Rom Great idea on that. gonna keep that tip in the back of my mind and maybe use it on my build.
