That's the exact car I had in mind Lyle! Although I've never seen that one before in person, even though it's got PA antique plates on it. Was that taken at the York Fairgrounds at the Rte. 30 Reunion? Someone mentioned that idea to me a couple years ago..............I still have the frame although it's no longer in the car. It still folds up after all this time! A Z-16 Chevelle would work for this frame too as the GM midsize '64-'65 cars used the same type of folding top mechanism.

Uhhhhh, I don't know about that! See your PM Chris!

Thanks Bernie! There's a fabric shop that's just across the river from me. When I'm able to get around better, I'll check it out!

That is a pretty car is especially in that color! I just wish Dodge had styled the rear end of the coupe a wee bit differently. It looks like to me...........like..........like.........No, I better not say it lest I get kicked off the board! PM me if you REALLY want to know!

Real or Model #114 FINISHED!
MrObsessive replied to Harry P.'s topic in Real or Model? / Auto ID Quiz
If you're on Firefox, hold the Ctrl button down and use your scroll wheel to shrink or enlarge the pic and text. BTW, I voted model-------it and the scenery around it look very "diorama like" to me. -

Not pure Dutch, mind you.......but it was the way I structured my sentences in some instances I was once told, and the way I said certain things and words. It's funny because ever since they (the folks down South) pointed it out, I DO notice the way folks talk in this part of PA. True story: Back in the late '80's I called this national radio program that came on the weekends at night to request a song. I got into a VERY nice conversation with the young lady and the subject of race came up. She sounded SURPRISED that she was talking to a black guy and not a white guy. I had to remind her that not all black guys sound like they just busted out of the ghetto! She apologized profusely, and we got a good laugh out of it, but what's that saying about not "judging a book by its cover". -

That was well said Mark! While I'm not one to point out someones deficiencies in writing and basic grammar, I myself have also ignored posts where I couldn't make sense of what was being said without suffering a near aneurysm! One of my biggest gripes in society today is this-------with as much as I pay in property taxes via my mortgage there should be NO REASON why anyone in this country should leave school without learning the basics about reading, spelling, good grammar, etc. I figure you're getting a FREE education via my tax dollars..............use it wisely!! I'm not talking about those with a severe learning disability, and where English is not their first language. If one can navigate the web to find different sites, you'd think somehow at least through osmosis one could learn some basic rules of English. Like you said Mark a lot of it comes down to shear laziness and not wanting to take the initiative to learn basic good spelling/grammar. I know this is not an English class, but since this is the only way we can communicate without hearing the spoken word (those that have heard me speak KNOW I have distinctive voice! ) one needs to be understood without the other person having to struggle to wonder what the heck do they mean. Just my 2¢. -
Okay! Now I see why I have trouble with the Revell roof................looking at your side profile of the two Gerry I can clearly see where the crown of the roof on the Revell is too steep. This throws off the angle of the roof when looking at the body from a front 3/4 view making it appear the leading edge of the C pillar and trailing edge are not parallel. Here's a retouched pic I did with arrows pointing out the problem area................ The AMT to my view is spot on (long before computers folks!) compared to the 1:1. Hopefully Revell fixed this on the '66, but seeing those too square corners on the built up doesn't leave me much hope.

Painting over flocking?
MrObsessive replied to Ben's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Ben, flocking can be painted over but very carefully! you don't want the pressure so high that it blows the flocking off the surface, or brush paint it 'til it's nothing more than clumpy balls on your interior. Since you're painting it black there should be no issue of color bleed through or whatnot. Here's a pic of an '05 'Vette interior I did a while back where I had to paint over the flocking due to some color mismatch................ HTH! -
Your engine looks really good so far, but I wouldn't have painted the wires as paint doesn't like to stick well on the insulation (vinyl) as it is. I would have went with black electrical wiring that you can pick up at an electronics store or barring that, at your LHS for some Detail Master engine wiring which comes in different colors. The only suggestion I can make since you already have the wiring on, is to touch up the spots where it's peeling (carefully) and then stocking up on some engine wiring for the next time. Now, I'm not an expert in the area of wiring for starters, so here's a pic of a Chevy small block with the starter attached. I do know that GM starters of that vintage had the solenoid mounted piggyback on the starter so someone with some better knowledge can help you out more there. Hope this helps!

Okay, I changed the avatar to something more web friendly. I'm on DSL so there's no hangups with web speed on my end. BTW, DSL is not much more expensive than dial-up where it's available in your area. I don't pay quite $40 a month for it and I have 3MBPS speed which is more than adequate for what I need on the web. You can get lower speeds for less money and it will still beat dial-up by a long shot. -
Well, another problem Marc would be how to keep the fabric from fraying after it's cut. Believe me, I tried every conceivable type of fabric when I was trying to build this during 2003-04...........nothing looked in scale to me, or was too difficult to work with in the first place. I didn't want the model to have all the bells and whistles of working features, and then have a frumpy looking up top that didn't suit the rest of the car.

No, I'm afraid not. Seems as though she wants to be an island unto herself. Believe it or not, I haven't spoken to her in almost two weeks. Others who know her have tried to call, but she doesn't return their calls either. I'm too old to play games so if that's how it'll be then I can't be bothered. I guess that's how it goes.................

No, you can use the chamois as is. One nice thing about chamois------ when it gets too dirty over a period of time, you can throw it in the washer with the rest of the laundry. Now when it dries, it will be stiff as a board! But you can take the chamois by both ends, rub it back and forth across the edge of a table, and the softness will come back. Not as soft as when you first got it, but soft just the same. I've got cloths that I know I've had for over a year, that are still going strong...........they can last for quite a while!

1956 Revell Ford Country Squire
MrObsessive replied to bigskybob's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The very reason Bob, I've been getting rid of vintage kits on the 'Bay recently. No point in keeping them if I'm never going to build them. That's been kind of my new mindset lately toward the hobby. I've got a ton of kits now that if I were to live to 100........they would never get finished the way I build. -
NICE set of Ferraris! The 250 GTO rear end is correct for that particular car they modeled............seems as though that kit (ex Protar) was done after the 250 they modeled was wrecked, and wasn't quite restored to what the original was. So while it might not be correct for the other 250's it IS correct for the particular car that it was patterned after. Be curious to know if that car still exists and what was its chassis number out of the original 36 made in 1962-'63.

Wow! What a neat kitbash!! How's this for a name................"Muschallmaro".
