You can't go wrong with a B5 Blue Mopar! Probably one of Mopars best colors! Yours is coming along nice Bill!

The '63-'64 Revell kits mentioned above have stock suspensions..............in fact all the other kits save for the '59 Elky you're doing has stock suspensions. I know what you mean about those "blocks".............I kinda hate those too!

Mustang GT 99-04
MrObsessive replied to Waste Land's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The only '99 era Mustang I would know of would be Revell's '99(?) Mustang Cobra. Unfortunately, no other variations were made of the '99-'04 Mustangs IIRC. They're out there....................perhaps check eBay or some of the online vendors. HTH......... -
2006 Dodge Magnum SRT-8-----Update 7/7/07
MrObsessive replied to MrObsessive's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I'm not sure right now Jonathan. I have to take each meeting on a month to month basis right now, due to work if there's overtime or not. Also in November there's the LIARS Show coming up which I haven't been to in years..............I may try to get to that this year, and I think it's the weekend following our meeting. -
Gave this one away??? Who got it?? I'd have a real hard time giving away something that nice Bro! Anyway, I can't wait to see what you do with the AE-86.............might want to stick a modern rotary in it!

2006 Dodge Magnum SRT-8-----Update 7/7/07
MrObsessive replied to MrObsessive's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I'm finally on the downside of building this beast................The paint had given me some fits especially on the roof where it counts. I had to sand it down a couple times and reshoot it to make it just so. My dilemma now is regarding the wheels. While I'm not a big fan of chromed wheels, the chromed rims on this one look kinda cool! So the question I've been asking myself is this..............To Bling or not To Bling? I'm leaning towards stripping the chrome and repaint in Aclad Chrome like the 'Vette................but hmmmmmm......... Anyway, here are a few pics of what's been going on.......... The sunroof had a "tunneled" appearance to it................I trimmed the border around it and made it sit a bit more flush with the roofline. Now to add some kind of "weatherstripping" around it per the 1:1. I may paint the molded in ridge on the roof, or use some electrical tape trimmed out. Bumpers and wheels are just mocked up for now.........the front tires won't be that fender scraping! I want to also do some more rubbing and polishing out around the fender arches and sides. Hopefully by next weekend or so this will be all done and ready to put on the shelf! I'm back on night shift now, so who knows how my enthusiasm level will be until I get back into the swing of things. Stay tuned! -
Nice!! It's funny Revell never actually kitted a '60 convertible unlike what they did to their '59.

Now that's funny!! -
!!! ??? hehehee OH! My vote?...............I was mesmerized by that Rube Goldbergish type formula!! Uh..............I vote model!
-
Nice job so far...............Especially those tailights! Looks much better than the kit offerings!
-
Another masterpiece in the making! The paint looks pretty snazzy as it is! I built one of these a looooooong time ago ('88?) and it was a somewhat finicky kit to get together------but not as hair pulling as their Porsche 356's. Keep up the beautiful work!
-
Great job Brian! Each one of these I see makes me want to buy and build one!...............And I'm not a custom kind of guy! I wonder if this kit will be a block buster for Revell?

Same here Rob.............I have a couple of those MPC reissues. In one of the boxes I have Perry's Resin conversion kit. I sure as heck did NOT want to hack up that original MPC '70 as I wanted to turn mine into a Hemi convertible................One of these fine days. -
Mark, that is gorgeous as all get out!!

Figures!! With the way things are in the hobby now, I guess we'll never see an accurate 1970 'Cuda Oh well.......guess I better treasure that MPC '70 'Cuda I've got stashed away........ -
Totally excellent job on that one Dave!! One of my all time favorite Mopars!

I hear ya Bill! From 1987-92 I owned a 1:1 '69 AMX which I wish like heck I hadn't sold! In '92 I was being stationed down in Fort Jackson, SC........and couldn't take the car with me. Reluctantly, I sold the car to a fellow upstate from me in PA. Of course he was tickled to death to buy the car as it was a 390 with a 4 spd. A combination that was hard to find in '92. Wouldn't ya know it------I got hurt about a month after I got there, and the Army sent me home on a medical discharge. If my crystal ball hadn't been in the shop, I would've seen it coming and just simply parked the car on the street until I got back! Anyway, I've got my share of Johan AMX models..............an unbuilt '69 in a excellent box, a built '69, and a built '70 in great shape, waiting for a resto someday. Even more potent than an AMX believe it or not was the SC Rambler with the 390-4 spd combo!!

HeeHee...........I would never have guessed..........

IMO, Johan made the best looking and (accurate) bodies of all the model companies back then. This without CAD and other modern tools of today. Yet, their bodies always seemed dead on accurate compared to the 1:1's, which may explain why they're somewhat coveted today. I've got a number of Johan builtups and kits which I'll probably never let go because they're so rare. In fact down the road (sometime next year) I'm going to "accurize" RC2's '58 Plymouth Belvedere using the roof off the '59 Dodge that I got from Okey Spaulding at NNL East. (I only needed the body) The only beef I had with Johan is their chassis' left much to be desired with all the detail molded in (no worse than AMT) and as you mentioned, TONS of customizing stuff which to me is an abomination on a good looking body!
-
AHA!! I was right! There was something about it that said model........something about the whole presence of it. Very, very convincing looking though! BTW, what kind of car was that anyway Harry?
-
Yeah, I actually have a Photobucket account...........but one of the reasons I hang on to Fotki, is I like to add comments about each of the photos I post there. Especially when it comes to WIP stuff I post here. If Fokti keeps up the shenanigans about hosting pics come next year when it comes time to renew......................they'll be history.
-
Revell's current '63 Impala kit has a separate frame also in case you can't find the '64.
-
Just to add a tidbit about Fotki................I used to right click on the photo, copy and paste the properties and the pic would show up here. But Fotki has changed their method of hosting pics to where you almost have to use the "Share Photo" URL. Otherwise the pics will disappear after so long. Guess they're feelin' the budget crunch too because of bandwidth costs. I used to be able to post the full size pics (1600 pixel) but they too will disappear after a while.

Now that is some quickie!! I wish my "quickies" were that quick and clean! One question..............Are the side pipes in that kit? I have the '68 but it's been so long since I looked at it. I'm due to build another oldie Corvette kit down the road.
