GMP Wheel sets
MrObsessive replied to George Bojaciuk's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yippee!! Tell me George............are these the ten spoke mags, or the 5 spoke "hubcap" type wheels?? Either one and I'll be VERY happy!! -
Thanks again...
MrObsessive replied to camaroman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I noticed that too Glenn............'tis sad. I made up my mind about a year ago to no longer post there due to that among other things. What I like the best about this board is that if any such shenanigans start here, I can delete the whole thread......and getting rid of the nonsense to boot. Hate to see this happen........but it's things like that which have been the death knell for other boards. -
Great looking rod Mal!! As far as the "used" look for tires................I use 220 grit sandpaper and scuff them up as much as I can. To get in between the treads, simply fold the paper in half to sand in there. On real cars however, you'll notice that especially on a dirt road, the tread in between is usually untouched Some folks have taken a "tool" to hold the tire in place on a dremel and then "turned" the tire on sandpaper.......be careful with this method though as the tire can fly off and maybe hit the cat or something! This can be time consuming, but it does add a realistic touch to a model.

Hi Walt! Love the Camaro! 8) It took a spell for me to get the hang of things here..........but after a bit it's very easy. Welcome aboard and don't be a stranger!

Just a continuation of a few more of the working features........please forgive the blurry focus at times. The camera is on a mini tripod and tries to self focus with every move I make...... You can check this one out here....... http://s65.photobucket.com/albums/h240/MrO...aturesPart2.flv Hope you like this one too!

Well, it's a quiet Friday night so while the putty is drying on my '55 Ford's chassis. I figured I'd shoot an amateur video of the '57 'Vette's working stuff. I'm not the world's best videographer but I figured I'd give it a try. Like the '58 Impala's video, there's no sound, but the clip runs about 2 minutes long. Check it out here......... http://s65.photobucket.com/albums/h240/MrO...aturesPart1.flv Interestingly the lighting is a bit darker than what showed up on my end when I uploaded it..........but things can be seen. Enjoy! 8) P.S. Ismael!! Let me know what you think.........I know you're a real fan of this car!

DITTO that Mark! -
Looks pretty neat so far BJ..........love the stance! How are you gonna mod the engine?

Whoops! First, thanks for the compliments guys..........I think Streamload's server had onions for dinner or something and now is getting miffed by so many hits! Sometime this evening (if I have time) I'll try a different video hosting service (and maybe a longer showing) and we'll see how that works. Stay tuned!

MrObsessive replied to Billy Kingsley's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Looks GREAT to me Billy! I don't see the imperfection you speak of. 8) -
I found out about a video hosting service that will upload videos from your hardrive. I figure.......hmmm.....why not show a quick video of my '58 Impala Conv. working windows. Some of you have seen the car in person at shows, but there are some that have never seen the car's working feature. I'm kinda new at this video hosting stuff so I hope it shows up as planned. (New Link 5/17/06) http://s65.photobucket.com/albums/h240/MrO...kingwindows.flv As I mentioned in a previous post, there's no sound, just the video..................let me know guys if this is not showing up or the page is down. Also here's a link to my Fotki album of the model..... http://public.fotki.com/MrObsessive/1958_chevrolet_impa/ Enjoy! p.s. Sometime later I may do one of the '57 Corvette!

Welcome aboard Tommy! Where in Central Pa are you? I'm in Halifax.........20 miles or so north of Harrisburg in upper Dauphin County. 8) Maybe you could drop in on our CPMCC meetings in York sometime! -
A 1961 Cadillac (Modelhaus) FINISHED!! 5/11/06
MrObsessive replied to MrObsessive's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Thanks for the nice words Bill! I'm not sure if I'll be able to go to Toledo this year...........I plan on going to GSL (March '07?) and that falls in our same fiscal year at work. I'm only getting three weeks vacation (including personal days), and I need to carve out time for the summer months also. Yeah, this board is real nice!..........unlike "the other place" there's no BS with anonymous smart aleck remarks and such. BTW, you're gonna see more "curbsides" from me as I need a break from time to time with the superdetailed stuff........the Caddy was a fun car to do and I think I'm permanently hooked on resin now (especially Modelhaus!). Heck, I may even throw in a 1/43 scale or two in there! 8) -
1955 Ford Fairlane WIP (Update 5/29/06)
MrObsessive replied to MrObsessive's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Since I'm back to building on a regular basis (I hope) I thought it would be good to get back to the '55 Ford. I'm trying to get this done by next years GSL......but I still have a ways to go yet! 8) Here some pics I did of some recent work on the chassis.......... I've decided to get rid of the molded in exhausts and try to separate part of the floor from the chassis rails. I have yet to get the dremel out and grind away the rest of the exhausts from the rear part of the chassis. The top of the chassis floor will serve as the "floor" of the interior. In detailed models such as this, I like to use the flip side of the chassis as the interior. I think it looks more realistic and 1:1 cars in reality don't use "tubs" when they're constructed. Here's the floor that was cut away..............the smaller piece is where the shock absorbers would go. This will also be modified to fit in the chassis as well. I'm going to replace all the ribbing and depressions that were grinded away, as well as putty some areas that plastic can't fill too well. Top view of the chassis floor. Here are the mufflers that were cut out. I was going to swipe some mufflers out of another kit............but couldn't find anything similar, (the '53 Lindberg kit has but one exhaust). These will be detailed a bit more with flanges on both ends and holes drilled to accept exhaust pipes. Thanks for lookin' and stay tuned! -
Full detail (glue) Revell C6 Corvette Convertible finished
MrObsessive replied to ismaelg's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Great work as usual Ismael! Now if I could only win the lottery or something and get a real one............along with a new Z06 to boot! 8) -
Thanks for the pics Bobby! The yelllow and black one gives me some ideas. I have it on good authority at our NNL today (a real Ford nut) that Fords painted Purple/White had black and white interiors. At least in the regular Victoria line. Seems as though in the Crown Victoria you could indeed get a purple and white interior. Maybe because the Crown Vic was the flashiest of the whole Ford line back then that Ford offered this in that wild color! Thanks again!
-
Well folks it's back to work on the '55 Ford..........I'm near the point when I'll be working on the interior. One hangup I've run into is what color was the interior for a Snowshoe White/Regency Purple exterior? I have combed the 'net lookin for pics of '55's in this color but apparently it looks as though that was a quite rare color and pics are as hard to find as hens teeth. Anybody have any idea what color the interior would have been?? Was the interior color keyed to the exterior? Did folks buy a car with a purple interior in 1955? Any suggestions or pics would be GREATLY appreciated!

Excellent bodywork Jeff! The doors look really good and open the right way. I have this kit and the Shelby also......I should try and give them a go someday.

A 1961 Cadillac (Modelhaus) FINISHED!! 5/11/06
MrObsessive replied to MrObsessive's topic in WIP: Model Cars
OK Fellas......she's all done! Except for a couple minor details, for all intents and purposes, this baby is DONE! Here are some pics...... I've decided NOT to paint in between the spokes on the wheelcovers body color........I think it makes the wheels look "busy" and I've seen '61's that had full chrome wheelcovers. I may add an outside fender antennae..........and since the body is not fully set on the chassis yet, I should add an inside rearview mirror. Or maybe not....... The kit had a few inaccuracies..........but it was a fun build just the same.......and as I mentioned before, I have a few more resin kits that I may build in the future. A '59 Buick, '61 Olds, and a '56 Stude Golden Hawk are just a few.......not to mention a bunch of 1/43 kits. Thanks for lookin'! -
Great Build!! Looks like you haven't lost the basics skills of modeling
-
Absolutely Gorgeous Ismael!! That's on my must build list in the future..............but I'm desperately waiting for the Z06 though! Only complaint I have about the kit is I wish they would have offered the transparent top also.
-
Looks Great Ben! I have this kit and was wondering did you have any peculiar problems building it? Some have said something about the plastic being "soft" for paint or something.
