  1. WOW!! CHECK OUT THAT ENGINE DETAIL!!! ............that makes my Charger Daytona look like a Kindergarden project!! Glad to see your work posted here David! Keep up the fantastic work!
  2. Ditto that Brian! If AM did the Daytona Coupe with their level of detail..............it would probably be one of the most desirable of all the Cobra kits ever! Let's just hope that the new 289 roadster kits aren't as fiddly as the Grand Sport 'Vettes. As far as Tamiya doing a 1:12 Cobra Daytona.................A guy can dream can't he?
  3. Oh Goodie!! I wonder if it'll have the same kind of detail like their fabulous Enzo........swing up doors and all??!! I would love to see what Tamiya could do in certain 1:12 scale cars...........Cobra Daytona anyone?
  4. Man that is gonna be WILD!! Some may disagree..........but you can almost never go wrong with a Tamiya kit and its details! 8)
  5. I've been saying that for months!! Seriously..........if that board changed to a format a bit more similar to this one........a lot of that nonsense would cease!
  6. Wow! Some guys have all the luck! That kit is one of those all time classics no matter how many times it's been reissued!
  7. Very Very Nice Ismael!! It seems as though Cobra Colors Moon Mud Primer is the way to go! I was talking to someone at our local auto body paint shop and they suggested something called "Bulldog" for covering soft plastics. After work tomorrow morning, I may stop by there and pick some up. Ismael, is his paint pre thinned or do you have to buy a thinner to airbrush it? I had trouble with another's paint suppliers pre thinned paint as it was too thin I thought.
  8. AWWWWW.........ain't he cute!! As far as the "fixing" don't count on it!
  9. That was your FIRST build??? Gee I wish my first ever build came out even a 1/4 as good as yours!!..............And I was about your age when I built my very first model as a senior in high school in '78! That's a very, very impressive first result! Keep up the good work!
  10. Absolutely Beautiful Paint Joe!! I'm not much into NASCAR, but yours looks very, very sharp! I may have to give Cobra Colors a try since most guys who have used his paint seem to really like it! 8)
  11. Looks just like the 1:1 Ismael! As far as the crazing problem...........I wonder if the body was airbushed with several coats of Future Floor Wax, would this be a cheap but effective way to prevent crazing? Years ago I built a '55 T-Bird (converted Monograms '56), and it was molded in that nasty red plastic. I airbrushed about 5 or 6 coats of Future on the plastic before the primer----let it sit overnight--- and then primered as usual. The red DID NOT bleed through and I was able to color coat it the light aqua Thunderbird Blue. I may do test to see if this can prevent this, as itwould be a precautionary step since Revell/Monogram has gone on the cheap and given us this type of plastic.
  12. Thanks Bob! What shade of blue did he use? My friend Dale Beaver and I were racking our brains trying to figure out what 1:1 car used that shade of blue. I'd like to have it mixed locally if I can get the vehicle color and paint code.
  13. UUUUGGGHH!! I would be having the cat banished to the outside forever if that happened in my house. One thing I learned with cats is the only thing that works with them is fright! My cats are banned from my model room although when I do allow them in the room they kinda just sit there and stare................waiting to make their move!
  14. Great Builds Bob! Which kit is the GT40 in the one pic? I had started a Lemans Miniature '69 Lemans Winner.................but the kit (particularly the resin) was so fiddly, I gave up on it. Maybe I'll try to tackle it again someday.
  15. Looks great Tom! LOVE the stance and color!
  16. Spinners?? I never even noticed that the 1:1 had 'em! I don't think I have anything at the moment that can replicate those.................It's no biggie as I want to try to keep this one as simple as possible! (Well almost.......save for the interior-----I'll have more on that later...)
  17. Great score John!! And you picked well in your choice of Amy as your wife! Too bad she has no sister........... 8)
  18. Great Pics Lyle! Wish I coulda been there............I'm working third shift now and there was overtime this weekend so no dice. At least the overtime will be on my next pay when I go on vacation the 4th of July week!
  19. Great Review Ron! The only complaint I have about the kit is that the wheels and tires are not exactly the right size and width for the model as opposed to the 1:1. Seems as though.......especially looking at the boxart car that the tires specifically look a bit "narrow" and tucked under............ particularly the rears. I tested fitted the tires out of the new Viper SRT-10 kit and they fit over the Z06 wheels very well save for the fact that you'll have to widen the wheels in the back just a trifle. Unfortunately, I had trouble trying to contact Revell to buy extra Viper tires off of them ..........So I went out and bought another Viper kit off the 'Bay just for the tires. I like this kit so much that it will be the next detailed model I do after I finish the '55 Ford. (whenever that'll be........)
  20. Well!! 'Bout time you got here! You'll definitely like it here Ron..............this board is pretty much no nonsense! 8)
  21. Nice!! That'll definitely be a showstopper when done!
  22. Beautiful job Steve! '61 Dodges seem to be coming into their own now................for a long time a lot of folks wouldn't consider one because of their looks but that seems to be changing now. I agree with you about resin fit troubles...........I had some trouble with the glass on the '61 Cadillac I did. It appears as though the glass wasn't the problem, the roof was slightly warped around the windshield header..............some reheating under hot water fixed that. Your glass looks pretty good though!8)
  23. Steve, You'll have to resize a pic on your hardrive (120x120 pixels?) and it will place it for you from the hardrive. I have Paintshop Pro with which I can crop and resize pics to fit in the avatar parameters. You'll have to play around a bit with the sizing to where it will be accepted. Once you get the size you want, click on it and put it in the space of where it says "avatar" on your profile, hit "submit" and it should show up everytime you post a message. HTH.......
  24. Thanks! That clears things up a lot!
