ALMS...lost another one
highway replied to Nick F40's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
No, I think he was correcting the spelling of "Parton". But what would I know, I'm just a GOOF BALL! -
Not to mention he didn't even know how to get to Victory Lane, even though I think the commentator took the whole Victory Lane things he didn't know a little far. Come on, did we really need to know he had to be told to put the car in gear before he got out?
-
You know, I just thought of something, with as great a race that Trevor ran and the fact he has his name on the same trophy as many of the greatest names of NASCAR, do you think NASCAR might let him take the rookie stripes off the back of the car?
-
Me too!! That was a great finish and nice to see the Wood Brothers in Victory Lane, and the whole team has had a great Speed Weeks. How great is it too that Trevor won the Daytona 500 in only his second Sprint Cup start!?!?

I really don't see the gripe with the 1:1s or what you mean that the front wheels are not designed like the rears, because the wheels Mike is using like just like the ones on my 1:1 Ford, and these wheels are the same front and back. Even though you can't see it the greatest on the pic above, if you look close, you can see where there is an indented circle around the outer rear tire where the lugs are, and that is just on the inside where the raised portion is on the front wheel. By the way, Mike, where did you get the rims from? I could use a set or three.

free stuff from work

I used to work at a warehouse that carried everything from office supplies to janitorial supplies, not to mention packing and shipping materials. There was one time the warehouse manager decided we'd clean the warehouse out and as cases of masking tape was getting ready to hit the dumpster, I told him I could use some. I ended up filling the trunk of my car with masking tape! I've probably got a lifetime supply! I also got scraps of bubble wrap from there from rolls they would cut to the customer's specs, and most were 250 feet rolls that maybe had up to a foot of extra scrap at the ends after cutting, so I'm set with bubble wrap, too! There were occasions when we would get a damaged case of toilet paper in, too, and if I was lucky enough to be in the warehouse soon enough to be one of the first vultures circling the damaged case, I brought that home too! One time I didn't have to buy TP for over 6 months! There was also one time they were throwing out old computers they weren't using anymore, and my friend rebuilds computers, so I asked them if I could have the parts from them for him. I was told as long as the hard drive was destroyed, I could have the rest. I ended up getting him about 6 towers and a few monitors, and one monitor I still have that I used for over a year and still have as a backup. In fact, some of the parts from those "junk" computers are still in the computer I'm sitting at right now! -
Yep, me too. I thnk if I remember correctly the team in question was Penske Racing using up to 7 coats of clear.

ALMS...lost another one

I noticed the extensive coverage of the 24 Hrs @ Daytona or the fine coverage of F1 didn't make you hate list for Speed, or did you just forget them? There are many racing fans who like ALL forms of racing, I'm one of them. I watch every race of NASCAR, F1, IRL, and I also watch NHRA and the ALMS on occasion. I also find Barrett Jackson interesting to watch for model ideas and/or reference. If you don't like the programming, there is other channels or the off button. In my case, I pay $7.99 EVERY MONTH for a sports package where Speed Channel is the ONLY channel I have any interest in, all the other stupid sports channels like NFL Network, the other college sports and I think even a tennis channel have NEVER been on my TV. That's just my two cents worth. -
I think he won........

I'm not a professional, but I always thought just like it says on a fire extinguisher, you're supposed to aim at the BASE of the flames. Right? All they looked like they were doing was giving it it's last car wash! -
And so what does this post have to do with Photobucket issues? SMELLS LIKE SPAM TO ME!

No matter the manufacturer of the kit, I have to agree about the Monogram bombers. I recently bought the B-17 and was going to try my hand at super detailing a plane, and found the detailing was already nicely done to start with, but most is buried after assembly. As for the auto world, I've sometimes wondered about all the hidden detail and scratched my head, especially with AMT and the previously mentioned molded in valve train and such. Of course, most of the head scratching was in my younger years and before I started using my imagination for building! One case in point where I'm thankful AMT added that usually hidden valve train detail is the 1/16 scale 57 Corvette. It's missing a couple small engine parts and is a built up to restore, and the imagination started running wild and since it does have the nicely molded valve train, the choice was simple, built it as if it is in the process of getting the top end freshened up. That way, the small parts I'm missing would be noticed or needed, and I can still put the kit to good use.

How long have you been modeling?
highway replied to wvsm's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I started building when I was about 8 years old like many others that have answered so far, and I'm now 35. I started out with the almost on the shelves again 1/16 scale MPC General Lee, and I'm so happy that kit is coming back out! I plan to build it just to see how far I came since the first one, and hopefully this time I'll think twice about painting the sun visors green! I still can remember sitting at the dining room table with my dad and working on it together. Unfortunately both the original and dad are both long gone, dad passed away in 1990 and I lost the original General in a house fire in 1997, but at least the reissue will give me a chance to remember and relive some happy times. -
Thanks for posting that Chris, I hadn't even heard anything about the show, but I guarantee I'll have it set on the DVR! Speaking of the DVR, I don't know if it is possible or not, but I will record it on there and see if there is a way to copy it to the computer, and if so, I'll try to get it for you.

I'd do exactly what I'm doing, being patient. I'm not trying to start anything with you, but I've dealt with JR many times, and I know from experience I'll get what I'm waiting for, and the same will go for you. There is just sometimes life and more importantly family is more important than model cars or even turning on the computer, so do what I've been doing and say an extra prayer for him and his family. I'm also sorry to hear of your loss Roy, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family also.

Sneak peek .... Lindberg Charger Police Package
highway replied to SteveG's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Concider me first in line James!! If you get a case of them, I'll help get rid of probably at least 20 or 30 of those extra lightbars. Yes, I do have that many wreckers and other things needing lightbars in mind! -

I'm going to have to see if I could score like that at my local JD dealer! -
Jeremy, bad IS NOT the word for that, JUNK is more fitting and the only proper word for use here on the forum! Many other offensive four letter words could be used instead! Seriously, if you just bought that from a resin caster, I would ask for a better one or my money back. Yes, resin is harder to work with, but that is just junk casting that the caster should have NEVER let leave his business! I would be embarrassed if that was my casting. By the way, too, be very careful handling that interior. One false move and the very thin area by the driver's corner of the front seat will have your finger straight through it.

Roy, I'm in the middle of a deal with JR right now, and have no fear, he will hold his end of the bargin. I've traded with him quite a bit and he is very trustworthy. I just checked to see when my last PM from him was and it was Feb 2 since I've talked with him, but there are some personal problems in his life right now. I won't go into details as it's not my place to tell the entire forum what he told me in privacy, but be assured from me, you WILL NOT be taken by JR. Sometimes life takes more importance over models. By the way, I also just checked his profile, he has not even been online since Feb 3. Please have patience with him.

You know, it just might be because we share the same birthday! Maybe we are twins separated at birth, because that sounds like me! I'm not here even when I am here! Now back to your regularly scheduled thread.

I don't know, I could see if I could knock him out and send him to you, but shipping would be outrageous! EDIT:And while he's gone, I could finally clean out his model room of all the kits I want!

Now you really got me cornfused, what PM!?!?
