  1. I'd love to have that much space, Don! The space in my living room that I call the model room is about 5 foot wide by maybe 8 foot long area I sort of boxed in with my shelves. A pic before I stacked the other shelves on top of the ones on the left of the pics above. Also, as I said in my post replying to Robert, I don't consider my self a collector, but I do have more kits than two of the three hobby shops in my area COMBINED, and I'm closing in on the third!
  2. Honestly, at least for me Robert, I will never concider myself a collector of model kits. I, as I mentioned before, have over 450 kits in all stages of construction from nearly finished to not even opened inside, but I feel the one thing that separates me from a collector is the fact I open almost everything! If you find one box in my stash that still is factory sealed, it wouldn't stay that way for long! Actually, right now I only have about maybe a dozen kits that are still factory sealed, and the main reason for all of them is to keep my thieving fingers off the parts so I can someday actually build the kit the way it was meant to be and not steal parts from it. I also have to admit, even the stuff I have as collectors pieces don't spend their lifes in the boxes. Yes, I do keep the boxes for the possible future value, but I have almost everything out on display. A case in point, my Dale Earnhardt collection on the top of my entertainment center. The only piece in my collection that doesn't get displayed is my autographed Tony Stewart car, it only came out of the box for this pic!
  3. That's funny, my better half always tells me she feels like we live in a hobby shop! What's wrong with that!?!?
  4. I have to agree with most everyone here, YES!! Wow Dave, I've brought that many home from a model show on more than one occasion!
  5. You didn't have to upgrade, just make another email account and then another free account like I did! By the Bradley, I will have you on the list with the Kenworth.
  6. Yeah Jared, it's that cut once that worries me! On top of that, since my truck was originaly a chassis cab, I have to cut the frame just right to shorten it for the regualr cab, but still keep the six inch gap between the bed and cab where someday my dual stacks will live!
  7. This has been something I have always wanted to do ever since I bought my first car, a 1976 Mercury Cougar XR7 identical to the one in this picture I found on the web. The only kit I have ever found close is the 73 Cougar from AMT, but there is just enough difference between them I don't think it would be anywhere near correct. Of course, I also have plans sort of close to the model Mark Taylor posted, and that is to build my current daily driver, my 1990 Ford F350 4x4 diesel dually. I'm not like Mark in the fact that it is my first truck, I've had many, but it is my first dually and my first (and last ) diesel powered truck! I have most of the parts collected for the 4x4 drivetrain, I just have to figure out how I'm going to replicate the diesel engine and most importantly, get the guts to take the razor saw to the Monogram extended cab!
  8. Very nice, now I can't wait even more to pick up the half dozen or so I had my LHS order!
  9. I don't understand why you are getting a pixelated mess when you zoom in, Mark. I just zoomed in on it at 325% and it's very clear on my 19 inch widescreen. You might want to try adjusting your monitor's resolution and try zooming in on it again. Mine's set at 1440x900. By the way, I think this is another one of Harry's large scale tricks, so I'm going against the grain and saying model.
  10. There may be a select few who fit your category, Robert, but I for one feel that is not true. I was a contest builder, and for that fact a contest winner quite a few times, and I NEVER had nor will ever have, if I ever can attend another contest, the "I'm better than you" attitude. In fact, I'd probably be the first to point all the flaws out to you in my build!
  11. I'm with the majority, if my VERY CRITICAL eye has to strain to see it, nobody elseis going to notice!
  12. Yeah, Don, you can build the police cars stock, but word of advice, get the white undecorated ones for that. All the others are prepainted like the cars you see on the box. The Georgia state patrol car on the back of the upper deck on my car carrier is exactly how I pulled the kit from the box.
  13. If that isn't an option, get Tamiya's semi gloss black (X-18 if I remember correctly), I started using that about 5 years ago and I won't use anything else!
  14. Very nice! I have a few of these memorial type builds in the plans myself, including many Dale Earnhardt cars, Neil Bonnett's car he drove for Dale Earnhardt (the car I believe was the one he was killed in), a couple of Davey's cars, and my all time personal favorite, the "Underbird" Alan Kulwicki drove to win his Winston Cup.
  15. I had made it to my local Ollie's last week and got 4 of the police cars, the Dodge Dakota, and a 37 Cord. I'm hoping I can have some more extra cash to go buy some more soon!
  16. Nice job, it looks like you got one of the few with good tires, too!
  17. This reminds me of one I found, at all places, one of my LHSs. I think the shop must have bought some kits at an estate sale and just stuck them on the shelf without looking through them, and I found a Monogram Lamborghini Countach in the original Exotics box with a $12 price tag on it, so I got it down and asked the manager if he minded if I looked through it, since it was open, and see if all the parts were there. This is what stared me back in the face! Needless to say, I pulled it out of the box and both me and the shop manager almost lost our lunches! He felt so embarassed that it made it on the shelf, he ended up telling me to just take it! Nothing beats free plastic, no matter how ulgy it may be!
  18. Yes, and they are quite good, too!
  19. On the topic of the good guys of resin casting, Eric at P&P Resin Works is my first choice for heavy truck parts and conversions. His work is great and and he is also been very timely with shipping, I usually get my order within the same week I order it. This is his Freightliner Classic XL hood conversion set, and the hood sitting mocked up with Italeri's Frieghtliner FLD 120 cab. I also bought these fenders and toolboxs for my current project, along with a set of air cleaners for the parts box. The fenders have already been painted with DupliColor Chrome, and took very little prep work, and the toolboxes also required very little prep work and are awaiting paint. Even though it's not the best picture, this is the only one I have of the fenders after painting.
  20. Good to hear the news, Stewart!
  21. I might just have to come down to your area and look you up!
  22. I don't think it would have made any more laps! I found those and other pics of the crash while searching one time.
