Thanks, Nick. I have a few here, too, I'm just having trouble figuring out what looks right! Since I'm mounting it in the center console in the roof, I'm even thinking of finding a Cobra 29 or Galaxy face online and just using a cord and mike. Something like these, maybe! Oh, and before the radio fights start with us that have also driven the real things with everybody saying "A big truck needs a big radio like the Galaxy!", I had a Cobra 29 just like the one in the pic pushing over 40 watts! It even drowned out a buddy's Galaxy a time or two!

I'm surprised (unless I missed one ) no one mentioned another one of the obvious V-12 powered exotics other than Ferrari, LAMBORGHINI!! The Monogram Countach has a full detail engine in it.

WHO-HOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
highway replied to Mr. Moparman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Good for you, Brandon! I haven't tried that for the small things like in the tutorial yet, but I did the smae thing on a slightly larger surface two or three years before he did that tutorial! I wanted that trailer to look like a stainless steel style, and just happened to be working on it when my better half was getting ready to put something in the oven for dinner and she looked at me with the tin foil box in hand and she said "Why couldn't you use this?". After looking at her like she had aliens coming out of her ears, she told me much the same technique as the tutorial and I thought it would never work, but it did! -
Wow, I love it when old threads get pulled out of the depths!! Even though I know I've posted this in various places on here, for those who have not seen it, this is my daily driver 1990 Ford F350 4x4 diesel dually. This is how it looks in winter with it's block heater plugged in. If it's not plugged in, I don't go!

Oh, I forgot, if anyone has any spare cab marker lights, I still need one of the lenses. I stole one from my Ford Aeromax kit to finish all 10 lights on this, so I need it for that kit now!

Well, I finally got a chance to sit down at the model desk again, and have some to update on my big Ford. I got some BMF work done, and also cut some K&S stainless steel tubing for the stacks. I might be changing the stacks to aluminum tubing, though, because it will be easier to cut and I can also add turnouts to the top, I never have really been a fan of miter cut stacks. I also have some of the detail painting done to the frame, and mounts for the rear fenders. I also seen a nice custom truck over the weekend last week that had a very unique shifter, and while looking through another kit for a nice CB to put in here, I was reminded of this unique shifter. Here is the finished interior with the possible new shifter mocked in place. If y'all like it, it will be the new shifter! I also found these for the trailer, I think they will make nice chicken lights. Finally, a mockup of the truck as of tonight.

P&P Resin Works '53 Ford Extra Cab
highway replied to doublej's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Yep, I've bought a few things from Eric, and his work is just as you said, GREAT! Everything I've bought from him is his big rig stuff, one of his hoods and the toolboxes and fenders. Also, just in case you were not aware of it, he posts on here under the screenname Porky. -
I split this LOOOOOOONG awaited update into two posts, because I wanted to post some new mockup pics, too! I also have done some BMF work to the cab, I have to have my shiny stuff and mocked up my monster stacks, which scale out to 8 inches in diameter, if I remember correctly. They are K&S stainless steel tubing, but I'm afraid I may have to change to aluminum tubing. I didn't relize how hard the stainless would be to cut! The aluminum would also be easier for me to make turnouts at the top of the stacks with, because I just really have never been a fan of miter cut stacks. The stainless may stay, but I'll have to shorten them up still and cut the miter again, because I goofed one up trying to deburr it. Here's a mockup with them at about the height I want with the wheels on. This one is with the wheels off, but the trailer in the background. This is how I want it to look while looking from the front with the trailer on it. Finally, a few mockups with the stacks off and a few with the stacks mocked in place. The fifth wheel is itchen to pull something!!!

Wow, it's been a LOOOOOOOOOOONG time since I updated this, but I've been busy with other things, including trying to get back to school for degrees in computer repair, programming, and also computer forensics. Yes, forensics as in CSI stuff! Maybe I can learn how to find out who hacked one of my email accounts back in January and put them in jail! That has been one of the issues behind finally deciding to go back to school, since it took my friend who built my computer a week to get it restarted after the email hack, just because some stupid idiot (insert my name for "some stupid idiot" ) accidentally opened the link in the email which contained a virus while trying to figure out who all the hacker's email went out to! Anyway, over the past few months taking what little time I've had to sit down at the desk and work on this, I did manage to get the interior finished, well until I was looking through another kit for a nice CB radio to put in it and I found something else in the particular kit that reminded me of something I seen in a custom truck I was talking to the driver of just a couple days before. Here is the now almost finished interior, since I still haven't found a nice looking CB yet, with the "something else" mocked in. If you all like the look, that will be the new shifter! I also got some of the little bits detail painted on the frame, and have the mounts for Porky's wonderful rear fenders in place. I made the mounts from aluminum tubing, and there are two pieces to each, a smaller piece of aluminum tubing holds the mounts to the frame and larger diameter tubing will be attached to the fenders so they can be removed if necessary. I also picked these up at the craft store, I think they will look good for chicken lights on the trailer and maybe the bumper, too. They are 5mm, and scale out to about a 4 inch diameter round light. More to come, and hopefully I can steadly work on this again since spring is finally warming things up so I can spray paint again! And maybe this won't fall back all the way to page 6, either!!!

In time, Nick, in time! Not only will it have dents, but rust and a BAD paintjob, too! It will be all go and no show!

Even though I'm not too big into wagons, a couple of them have caught my eye! This one is one of my many "I'll get around to finishing it someday" WIPs, my sleeper/beater AMT 65 Chevelle wagon. I'm planning on using the racing engine options that fit under the hood along with weathering and rusting the body and using the stock hubcaps. Note the front plain steel wheel, just like a hubcap flew off! I'm also into Nomads, I have all the Tri Fives, but the only one I have worked on is my 55 AMT Nomad. This one falls into the "Finished but still in progess" file, because I built it before I had a complete plan for it. After I primed it, I liked the look of it, and plan to remove all the trim and drill out mounting holes to give it the "in progress" restoration look. Oh, and pardon the dust, it's an older build and I didn't dust it before the pic!

It might be James, all I know is here we have to have the DOT physical long form when we renew, and not just our DOT card, the long form! When I just did mine, they read all through it AND made a copy of it to send to Charleston at the DMV. If it is a WV thing, they've been doing it that way since around 05 or 06, the last time I renewed my license before this year, and I was unaware of it when I went. I had to run all the way to the doctors office then back to the DMV before the closed, and my picture looked like I was ready to kill someone!

Mack AC "Bulldog"
highway replied to Harry P.'s topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Yeah, but truck kits are like potato chips, you can't have just one! By the way, you are correct with the Dodge being am IMC back in the day. The Lindberg reissues still has the IMC logo on the mudflaps. -

Very nice Harry, I knew you had to be a scale trucker at heart! -
Steve, I think they are 1/18 scale. A friend of mine has a couple of those, and they are about they same size as my 1/18 scale OCC choppers.
-
I'm not sure if this fits with what you're asking, but there were a couple of pickup kits that came with dirt bikes. I can't remember offhand which kits they were, but I think maybe an old Datsun from Revell and maybe a Chevy from AMT.
-
Dave, since I'm not really up on the engine types, what type does the Revell Beetle I mentioned have in it?
-
Mike, I don't know if it's the most detailed on the market or not, but Revell's older VW Beetle has a separate engine and transaxle like you're looking for. Another possibility may also be Revell's Samba bus, but not having that kit, I'm not sure on the detail level or if the transaxle and engine are separate from the chassis.

Entered my first show on the weekend
highway replied to a topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Nice job Mark! I wish I would have done that well at my first show! -
Jim, as a judge at the show the former model club I was a member of for many years, I think that would be a great idea. We never had a rule against it, and as far as I know, none of the other shows I ever attended did either. If I remember correctly, I think there were even a few that brought a small 3x5 photo album with WIP pics, just like many 1:1 builders do with restorations.
