Thanks, Romell, that is a huge compliment to me! I haven't been working on this much, too many other projects on the bench, but I might just have to get back to work on it now!
-
Romell, that fuel cell is a work of art! I'd swear you invented a shrink ray if you hadn't shown it in raw plastic!!

Those Buick 350s are monsters! I had 73 Buick 350 in a 79 Firebird and that thing would light em up on demand. It had so much torque it cracked both rear leaf springs in two!

That looks very close to me. -
Thanks for spoiling it for me!!! I had the DVR taping it, and I didn't watch it yet!

By the way, the rained out qualifying stinks, Jr was on the pole for the 400 when the rains came, now he's got to start by points, that stinks!!
-
I think he's running it tonight in the Busch, whoops sorry, Nationwide race. I just hope it stops raining, qualifying for the Sprint Cup got rained out!

Thanks Garred, The hood on this kit fits very tightly as it is. The paint just made it even tighter!

dealing with trademarks
highway replied to phoneguy's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
I doubt it. And what about all the ebay listings that have something like "Kenworth, Peterbilt, etc. thingamabobs" in the sales listings? Are the sellers paying for the use of the names? Again, I doubt it! -
Nice, but how do you know whether it's coming or going!?!?

dealing with trademarks
highway replied to phoneguy's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
I don't think I would! Yes, they ARE copyrighted names and images, but, as a few others have said, you would think any company would be happy that modelers wanted to build ACCURATE replicas of their products. I could see the issue if Jerry was making millions mass marketing his decals the way AMT would off of the truck kits, but he has said himself his business "are a sideline for me and I could not survive off what I make". This is a perfect example of corporate greed in my opinion! By the way, Jerry, I read the posts on Hank's forum you mentioned, they were probably EXACTLY the ones who messed everything up for you! -

Nice job, and welcome to the forum! -
Dave, what scale do you need trucks for? If you're thinking of doing that in HO scale, Revell AG reissued an old Monogram mold of a Union Pacific "Big Boy" a couple years back. I think they also have a Hudson and also some European train kits, any of those should set you up. If you're thinking bigger, MPC had an old 1860s era steam engine called "The General" in 1:25 scale!

Maybe even the "Bumblebee" edition!?!?

Purple Power - Where Can I Get It???
highway replied to impcon's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Castrol Super Clean, or Super Clean, or CSC is the same product, it just depends on what the individual calls it. The PROPER name of the product is Castrol Super Clean, and you should be able to find it at any well stocked auto parts store or in the automotive section of Walmart. Purple Power, as a few others have explained already, is a generic brand and is a different product than Castrol Super Clean. While from what I have picked up from this thread, it will do the same job as the Castrol Super Clean, but may not do it as well as the CSC. I think someone even mentioned you will find the Castrol Super Clean and the Purple Power sitting side by side in the automotive section of Walmart. -
Tony, you did a great job replicating the 1:1. This just proves what a few good reference pics can lead to.

White Road Boss update
highway replied to daniel gailloux's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Thanks, Daniel, I have a nasty habit of seeing the small details! The main reason I brought it up, though, was so if you needed another set of wheels, I might have a set I could have sent you, but it sounds like you have it covered. If you would need them, though, I think I have a set from the AMT Freuhauf flatbed, you would be more than welcome to them. -
No, some people just can't see the beauty under the rust and bondo! I think some people just don't realize a WIP, whether in scale or real life, is going to look worse before it looks better!
-
That might work for you, but it doesn't look very stable to me. I think I'll stick with my super simple paint stand, and old bent coat hanger! It works, the coat hangers were free, never had a body fall off one, and I can hang it anywhere while the paint is drying.

I was thinking the same thing. I have a few of those old MPC kits where the decal sheet has "TR" here, an "AM" there, maybe an "ANS" somewhere else. The oval and lettering may be a little fussy to get right, but it's an idea. Of course, you could always do like a lot of peolpe do in I don't know how many posts and use the misspelling of "PeterbUilt"! It pained me even to add that "U", but as many times as I see it misspelled here, I don't think most would notice!! Of course, you could even do the "speakeasy" method! Offer them as an "unadvertised" special! If someone emailed you asking for "the good stuff", you'd know what they were meaning! Seriously though, I'd like to know what the world is coming to. The models are out there for us to build, what is the problem with wanting some accurate decals to go with them. What's next, is Ford going to sick their lawyers on me for posting pics of my 1:1 F350 in the 1:1 reference section and a few pics show the Ford emblem in the grille? Or the fact I used Ford in the title for not only that thread, but my Ford LTL 9000 WIP thread as well?
