I think it looks nice, but did it hop the left outer taillight off!?! By the way, what is that loop coming out of the trunk for?

You said you were getting ready to start on this kit, then wanted to know where to get one, do you already have it or planning on getting one to build? If it is plannig to get one, are you looking at buying the stock 67 Fastback or the GT 350 verison, which I actually think is a GT500 that AMT mismarked? If you already have it, I can't help you much, I built one many years ago but really don't remember much on the assembly of it. If you are planning to buy it, I can help you by at least taking some pics of mine, I have both versions, and at least you can see what you would be buying first.

How are you trying to download the pic from photobucket? The way I do it is copy and paste the "IMG" code and I've never had a problem with it. The best way, or at least my best way, is have photobucket open in a separate window or tab. If you are having trouble finding the "IMG" code, move your mouse pointer over the picture you want to select, that should drop down four codes, the "IMG' code should be the last one at the bottom. Then left click where it says "IMG CODE", that will highlight the address in the box beside it blue. Then move your mouse pointer over the blue and right click, that will give you the menu where you can select copy. After you have selected copy, go back to the window where you are posting, right click for the menu again then select paste. After you select paste, you will see what looks like a web address link appear with IMG at both ends, that is the picture, and when you post the reply, the picture will appear in the post. I know it may sound complicated, but it is actually very easy once you get the hang of it. Just a couple other pointers I use, before you put the IMG code in your post, hit enter twice to move your IMG code to it's own line like this: IMGyourpicturehereIMG then enter two more times, that way the text is not bunched up against the pic. I hope this helps.

At least it doesn't have the controversial donk wheels!! JUST KIDDING!! I think it looks super cool, that's something really different. I'm surprised I didn't see anyone else ask this, but are the seat bases scrap wheels?

Mini's Johan cutlass vs newage donk trend !
highway replied to David@MinidreamsInc.'s topic in Model Cars
Jeff, I don't think there was anyone here was doubting David's building skills or abilities, and he even apologized in his first post to everyone and stated he ususally doesn't build donk style cars. This tells me that not only did he know he was going to receive some of the "Why did you do this?" type comments, and was prepared for them! It also tells me he is not afraid to "build outside his own box", and I feel no one here is afarid to do that as well. I mostly build heavy and light commercial, that's why I made the tractor trailer comment, but I have my fair share of cars of all styles as well. My collection consists of 400+ kits, and of these, 5 to 10% of them are in your "build something different" catagory. I have everything from ships, planes, military armor and softskin, and even 4 train kits! I personally think, as probably everyone who has replied does, the build itself is excellent, the color choices complement the car very nicely, and the build is a very clean build. The wheels, just like I feel with every donk style car, real or scale, tend to draw the eye from the overall look of the car and you don't see the wonderful paint jobs because the eye catches the wheels. I know you are a lowrider, at least that is the majority of the builds I've seen you post, anyway, and should understand what I saying here. Lowriders, again both real and scale, have mostly nice candy paint jobs and nice murals, and most ride on smaller diameter wire wheels. If a lowrider were to have a donk style wheel, it again would, in my opinion, draw the eye away from the wonderful paint and murals most lowriders take pride in. I could be wrong, but these are my views and opinions, and everyones taste differs. That is just like my current project, a Ford semi truck I heavily modified with a large custom built sleeper, it may not suit everyones taste, but it is what I want it to look like. I'm happy with how it is turning out so far, and that is what matters. The same applies to David's Cutlass, it may not be what everyone thinks it should look like, but as long as he is happy with it, that is what matters most. -
That's the price I've been hearing.

IT'S REAL!! You actually answered yourself when you quoted Harry!

highway replied to David@MinidreamsInc.'s topic in Model Cars
OUCH!! Looks like a tough crowd here!! I have to agree, though, I have never liked the "donk" look, I think the "N" should be changed to an "R". 22 and 24 inch wheels only belong on one thing, a TRACTOR TRAILER!!!! -
You're quite welcome! I only really knew that because my mother in law just bought a 2008 Mariner, and she was looking at the Escape, too!
-
I hate to tell you this, but the Escape is a FORD, not a Mercury! The Mercury is called the Mariner. Mercury Mariner: Ford Escape:

Nick, don't you know GMC stands for Generic Made Chevies!! Seroiusly though, it's sad to see some of these fine names go by the wayside. My first car was a 1976 (special because that is my birth year) Mercury Cougar XR7 and my car during my senior year of high school was a 1979 Pontiac Firebird.

Hey, that's my idea! I already plan on buying one when they hit the shelves to build Doc Hudson!!

Well, it was worth a shot!! That is a great site, though, it has been a great help to me a couple of times. -

I don't know if this will help you or not, but this site has many scans of old kit instruction sheets. http://www.thedpmcc.com/instructionsintro.html This won't give you the original instructions in paper form, but at least maybe you might be able to see if there are any others you might be missing. -
Nice color choice!

Wouldn't happen to be the Trans Am concept body, would it? I hope it is, I'll look forward to seeing it, I want one of the T/A bodies, too. -

Yep, the AMT is a full build glue kit, great too, by the way, in my opinion. -

WOW, your weathering skills are great! Beautiful work! -
Your welcome, and many of those old AMT kits like that 1957 Corvette will teach you a lot about mold lines and flash. It's nice to see younger modelers like you taking interest in the hobby and spending time with your Dad at the same time.
-
Welcome Lani!! It sounds like speedy must also be Dad, and he has been offering you very good advice. I hope you have fun here, just watch that bed time!!
-
Welcome and nice job. I look forward to seeing more of your work.

I have to agree, very nice job, and it has all the looks of an old fleet truck with the addition of the Budds. An old Penske or Ryder rental repainted, maybe? I have one question, though. On these old Macks, did the intake for the air cleaner come in from the grille like the old White Freightliner did or should it have a stack intake in the back like the old Kenworths?
