I did paint this one with Testors spays and did not leave it in the molded blue. I did that with my original build back when these were new. I still have that one and did the same wheel swap and used leftover decals from the MPC 71 Superbird.

Here is another one that I recently finished. This is Revell's 70 Superbird with a few updates. This is the 1991 issue that was molded in blue. The rerelease was comming and I decided that I need to get one of these done. I used the rally's from the 71 GTX kit as they are the same size as the tire in this kit. I used Keith Marks decals, BMF and MCG photoetch hood pins on it. The engine and interior are box stock with no extra parts added. I did spruce up the chassis some. I cut the exhaust away from the axle and made them seperate peices. It was easier than I thought it would be. I also added rear shocks from my parts box. They are from a revell kit but don't remember if they are from the 68 Landy Carger or one of the Dart kits.

I use mostly the purple pond. Many times that works with some gentile purswasion. Other times I have to get more creative. I have scribed some joints with my exaco knife and gently cracked it apart. On this one the windshield was so glued it I destroyed the glass and the windshield frame. I grafted in another one from the 66 donor kit that I used. Here are two pics of the 64 that I also built. This is what I started with. It's a promo with a destroyed roof. Here is the same 64 after I cut the roof off and spliced in the sections from the 66 donor molded in grey. Note that I still had the original glass in place to help fitment.

Here is a Pantera GT5 that I built right from the box. This is a Gunze Sangyo kit that is motorized. Same as the Testors GTS kit but with a different body. I did this one in grabber orange for something different. It's a simple kit that just looks good.

Here is a glue bomb restore I recently finished. It's an AMT 65 Thunderbird annual. This is what I found on ebay!! Thankfully it was not painted and the chrome just needed to be rechromed. Glue was heavy and left some pits in the body when I removed the top. Many of these kit's came with the 64 hood that says Thunderbird. I ordered a resin 65 hood but is was too thin to use. I sanded off the letters and foilcast the bird emblem and stuck it to the original hood. The AMT 66 T-bird donated a few parts to this build. Here is the finished build. I went with pastel yellow for this build. The black uptop is now removable but it was originally glued on.

The excitement of driving dads car
Sport Suburban replied to Sam Cates's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
It's a cool feeling! I grew up around T-birds. My dad had two 58's and a 59 when I was learning to drive. I was not allowed to drive them much but I did get to occasionally. Here is a recent pic of one of his 58's. I spent most of my driving behind the wheel of mom's car. It's a 71 Plymouth Sport Suburban. It eventually became my car and is my first car. My Mom recently passed away this past May and I still have the wagon. This is how it looks today. -

Nice Job!! I have a few of these old AMT glue bomb's that I'm working on. I'm adding a sunroof to my 60! You did an amazing job straitening that one out. Does it still have it's engine?

How would I go about casting this
Sport Suburban replied to Mr. Moparman's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Thanks. I didn't realize that and I'm glad I didn't start sanding them off. Now to put it on top of the to do pyle and finish it. Here is my AMT version I built about 5 years ago. It's funny but I must have done my research as I foiled the A pillars. This was the last release that has a 70 hood on it. -
How would I go about casting this
Sport Suburban replied to Mr. Moparman's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
I started one a few years ago just like what was stated above. I have the Revell 69 Charger fenders and nose grafted on the Daytona body. It was going very well and I need to finish it.I stopped when I realized that I needed to remove the trim over the a pillars that the Daytona uses. Another option is to use the AMT kit and fix the body. Then use the AMT 69 GTX chassis under that kit. Both ways creat a very nice Charger 500 but The Revell kits are now easier to find. -
That is not completely correct either. The 70 Barracuda and Gran Coupe could get the 198, 225, 318, 340 4v only, 383 2v and 4v. These came with a flat hood. The 70 'cuda was a seperate model and came standard with that twin scoop hood. The standard motor was a 383 4v, with the 340 4v, 440 4v, 440 6pk and 426 Hemi being optional. The Shaker was standard only on the Hemi and was optional on all 'cuda engines. The 340 6pk was only in the AARcuda. As a side note the 440 4v was dropped for 71 for the 'cuda. Very nice build, I like it a lot!!

Continuation kits
Sport Suburban replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I would love to see Revell do a 61 or 62 Corvette based on the 58 or 59 kit. It's just a little late for me as I just got the 62 Corvette Conversion from Historic Racing Miniatures. I waited a year for it and just got it in May. I'm still waiting for the 61 I ordered then too. I would love to see Revell take their 57 Black Widow kit and modify it to a 57 Bel Air convertible!! How about a 69 Camaro SS 350 from the Z/28 kit. Just some engine parts, new exhaust and standard SS hood. Another one would be take the Revell 53/54 Corvette kit and add the 55 V8 for the 55 version plus a decal for the enhanced V emblem on the side of the 55. (a photo etched emblem is availible) I would love to see Revell take their 68/69 Charger and do a 1970 Charger RT. -
Nice Cuda's guys. Here are some of mine. First up is a 70 AAR Cuda. Also a Revell 71 Hemicuda kitbashed with a Revell 70 TA Challenger. Resin conversion from MPB Detail Products with a vaccuum formed hood. Another 70 AAR but built from the 1995 issued kit. Here is a 70 Hemicuda convertible. Started with the 71 kit and resin copies of the MPB detail stuff. Here is a 70 Hemicuda hardtop built just like the convertible. Just has a rare burnt orange interior and hockey stick stripe. Now for the 71's.

This is the only kit of there's that I bought. I bought two of them after I had seen one in person. I was that impressed. Nice and clean casting and no flash. The only thing that didn't fall into place was the hood. I just needed to sand the sides to get it to fit properly. It was cast somewhat large and rubbed the fenders before paint.

Thanks, I understand that this transkit was discontinued about the time I built it. I've had the kit for a few years before I finally built it.

Here is the only 6 cylinder I have built to date. It's a 71 Scamp by Bandit Resin with a lindburg slant 6.

What does "r/t" mean
Sport Suburban replied to hellonwheelz3's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I also think the Ford Super Duty is just as funny as Chevy and HD! The Gm Parts Catalog classify's all 1/2, 3/4 and 1 ton as Light Duty trucks. Then the 4500, 5500, 6500 and 7500 are all Medium Duty!! Where is the Heavy Duty's? -

Sport Suburban replied to hellonwheelz3's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
That is correct but should be clearified. The Dodge line up of performance cars were R/T for road and track and appeared in 67 first. Then in 68 started marketing there performance models as The Scat Pack. Plymouth just kept marketing the performance models seperatly then in 70 marketed them as The Rapid Transit System. But Plymouth did use letters that didn't mean anything. Fury GT, Fury S/23, GTX. -
I'll be there... Working.
