1/25 AMT '76 Gremlin X 2n1 coming from Round 2
Sport Suburban replied to SteveG's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I'm going to get one or two of those!! -
The new one is painted with Testors model master spray in Grabber Blue.
-
Here is the old one. The body was airbrushed with a custom mix of testors white and blue to get the color close to grabber blue. It also only has BMF on the hood. The white interior was airbrushed but all the black was brushpainted. It looks pretty good from back then and is one of my better builds from back in the day. I don't have any side by side photo's but I could take some.

Here is another one that I finished up earlier this year. This one is right out of the box with one exception. It's the classic Revell 1070 Boss 429. I did change out the blank sidewall tires for the same ones with the Goodyear lettering that the older issues had. I built this one just like the old one I built over 20 years ago that I still have. This one was somewhat of a quick build.

68 Hemi Cuda conversion
Sport Suburban replied to Craig Irwin's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
I started a kitbash using the 69 Barracuda and the 71 Duster kits. It's not easy and takes lots of fitting. Here are some pics of the work I did. I had to hollow out the rear vallance panel and trim the rear section of the chassis. I also shortened the wheelbase of the Duster chassis the with of my hacksaw blade. This project stalled for a few years and has been sitting. I recently got the Bandit Resin 69 Notchback and that killed this one somewhat. I recently pulled it out of my pyle and started converting it to a 68. It will mostlikely end up being a S/S Barracuda now. -
70 Roadrunner kit in high demand?
Sport Suburban replied to martinfan5's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Gabriel, I beleive those ones that are molded in color are the 70 GTX version and not the Roadrunner that came latter. -
71 Javelin AMX Trans-Am Racer Mark Donohue Driver
Sport Suburban replied to Reeves Racing's topic in Model Cars
My thought exactly!! Nice job. -
Nice job. I'm building one of these now in a similar fassion. It's a good kit that i'm enjoying. As for your next kit get one of the Revell 69 Camaro's. You will enjoy it and they offered it in a Yenko version as well.

What did Dr Pepper do to you!! That build is just awesome. I love it.

Oops, Here is the motor pic. I will look into the black out on the keystones, Thanks.

Here is one I wanted to build for a long time. I bought one of these when I was a kid and rode my bike to Valley West mall (a local mall that is now gone) and bought the Johan kit. I think it was back in 87 when I did it. I glued the motor together and brush painted it. I broke one of the rear wheels when I tore it off the sprue. Then I lost a front rim. It sat in the box all these years needing wheels. I recently purchased a built up from another club member for $5 that had a good set of wheels. My original kit was molded in orange. I decided to dismantle the built up since it was not a glue bomb. Then I stripped the paint and had a white molded kit that was perfect for a rebuild. I just needed glass, wheels, and the front suspension peice that was missing. So I got some wheels from Modelhaus and traded for the rest of the missing parts. Now I had two complete kits to build from. I used Tamiya spray white with red and blue from my airbrush. I used Testors Guard Red and Olds Engine Blue on it. The decals are slixx and I added plug wires and photoetch hood pins on this one. Not much for superdetailing. I did redo the rollbar on this one. I also broke the sidewindow so I cut them down and just used the quarter windows. This is the one I got all rebuilt. What do you think? P.S. I'm building the other kit into a 70 Sox & Martin Cuda.

The interior gets no love!! At least that is what I see. I have done a few really nice interiors and nobody looks in there unless it is pointed out. If it is a convertible then it gets noticed. The paintjob stands out first and then the engine.

Nicely done!!

What do you think of this ZR1 roadster?
Sport Suburban replied to Sport Suburban's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Mike, thats funny but I have a few hundred projects of my own. Jeff said it best. "Model builders are very optomisitic people, We have hundreds of projects in waiting and know that they take us a few months to do on average. We know we can't build them all but we don't stop trying!" -
What do you think of this ZR1 roadster?
Sport Suburban replied to Sport Suburban's topic in WIP: Model Cars
It does look that way but it is painted an off white with the blue and red paint. The body is the kit body that I grafted the sunvisors and rear convertible bonnet from the resin body. Next is the carbon fiber decals under the hood on the rockers and front spoiler. I'm going to build it with carbon black wheels, red calipers and red seats. -
1964 Oldsmobile Cutlass 442------update 12/19/11
Sport Suburban replied to MrObsessive's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I'm really enjoying this one. I have two of these in resin a 64 Cutlass coupe and a 64 442 convertible. I have not built either of them yet. -
I was going for a perfect score!! Missed it by THAT much!

Here is another one I finished this year. It's the Larry Griffith 68 Hemi Dart. I really enjoyed building this Hemi Dart kit. I used decals from Slixx on this one. I did change out the seats with some I had purchased in resin long ago from AFX-n-scale. I fixed the intake and sanded off the GTS detail from the door panels.

Here is one I'm playing with. I had a new Revell ZR1 that I robbed a few parts from. What do you think of this project? I'm going to finish it but am not in a hurry. I painted it Tamia Racing white with Olds engine blue for the stinger and stop light red for the hash marks.

2007 Shelby GT500 extra parts?
Sport Suburban replied to Kaleb's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yes there is extra parts in that kit from earlier versions. Pay close attention to the number call outs for the kit used items. This is true for all three new Shelby kit's and the gen 6 Corvette Z06 and ZR1's. -
Thanks everyone. I really like these 80's kits that I built back then. I still have my original Revell Superbird kit that I built 20 years ago. I was going to restore it but I had two more unbuilt so I started a new kit. I was thinking of grafting in the AMT 69 GTX inner fenders and firewall to correct the bad ones in this kit. Scale became an issue so I left them alone.
