  1. I didn't read anything about the Canada plant shutting down. Gm has a truck plant in Canada also. I think it's the same plant but not sure. I know all Crew cabs were made in Canada only at one time recently.
  2. I am wondering the same thing. I'm restoring a couple MPC annuals, a 71 Camaro SS and a 71 Firebird Formula. Neither one has mirrors and they look out of place without them.
  3. I'm just starting to get some of these hapening to me and I'm only 39. My first clue was that my MOM stopped buying my models and told me I should get my wife to do that now. I drove my custom 99 S10 Xtreme with 20 inch wheels through a Wendy's drive thou. The girl that got my money said to me (Driving your sons truck!!). My wife and I don't have any kids... I have a few freinds that I went to High School that have kids that have kids.
  4. It probably got an Impala tailgate at some point in time. I'm not sure but I believe that only the Impala wagon got the three taillights.
  5. Very nice job Jonathan! It's looking good. As for scalefinishes. The label he posted says it is a basecoat and requires a clearcoat. Other paints of scalefinishes are single stage and do not require clearcoats. Most of the ones I bought are single stage and come out very shinny.
  6. It's not a car I would build and I don't really follow award winners. I do love that it is beautifly built and exicuted. I just don't see anything wrong with it. The attention to detail is just amazing. Did anyone else notice that the tires all have Firestone at the top. The ford logo is level on the hubcaps and the valvestems are all at the bottom. The paint color doesn't grab me but the shine and that color does not hide a thing.
  7. Yeah. I would have loved to have had this kit when I built my 67 Camaro Pace car conv. I used the AMT 67 Z/28, Modelhaus hood and grill. Plus some parts from the AMT 69 Camaro conv. That build fought me all the way. Yours looks awesome and has all the right details.
  8. Very Nice. I just love that color!!
  9. This one is beautiful. Would love to see this resin kit become availible again.
  10. For the wheels I used Testors Model Master Graphite Met #2712 .5 oz bottle airbrushed on.
  11. Very nice Roadster you got their.
  12. I love this. This is just awwsome. I want to build one of these someday!!
  13. Wow, those are all beautiful!!
  14. This is the last build I finished for 2012. This is the Revell 2010 Shelby GT500. I built this one right out of the box. This is a really nice kit that I have to build another one soon. I think I'll have to do a 2011 GT500 convertible kitbash. I would love to see Revell do the 2011-2013 Shelby GT350 with this kit!! Can you tell I did a few red cars this year. I still have to finish the 55 Chevy Belair pace car I started when I painted four kits red.
  15. Thanks everyone. This one started out as an old build I wanted to redo. It was forrest green and I wanted to build it in a different color. That is what held it up so long. I think I started the rebuild 5 years ago or more. I finnally picked this color and ordered it in 2008 from Model Car World. I didn't do a good job primming it and it crazed the plastic and the sanded off emblems reappeared. Plus it looked more like a blue tinted silver. It went back in the box for a few more years. Then I bought the same color from Scale Finishes. I primed and sprayed the chassis plate and liked the color. That renewed my build and got it back on track. I almost added a vinyl top to this one.
  16. Thanks everyone. I really love how these kitbashed projects come out. I have a 72 Charger in my started pyle plus another 74 Charger to do. I have this kitbash bown to a science now. If you love my mopar kitbash's I really need to pick a color for my 69 Barracuda and finish it. It has the 71 Duster chassis under it!!
  17. Thanks everyone. I have a lot more Corvettes to build in my stash. Plus the 64 Corvette coupe annual to restore that I meantioned earlier. I just have to decide what color to make that one. It's funny but that decision is what holds many of my builds up.
  18. Thanks for all the love on this build. I had an AMT 55 Corvette but didn't really care for it. So I thought I would see about turning one of the Revell kit's I had into a 55. It was easier than I thought and came out nice! Now I just have to build the 53 and 54 versions to go along with this. I have allready bought the Pennant Blue for the 54 from scalefinishes.
  19. Thanks everyone. For such a simple kit and a quick build I'm real happy with it. I'm glad you all like it too. Thanks again.
  20. Thanks for all the great comments guy's. This is the first GTO that I have finished. I really need to get more of my started projects finished. This one has been in my started pyle since 2008.
  21. This is very nice!! Sounds like you started with an unbuilt kit. I have a built one to restore and I wish it had those wheels instead of the wheel covers. This is just beautiful.
  22. I agree. I need 6 washer bottles for my builds so far.
  23. Next time your in AZ. Look me up!! As for the engine it is built right out of the AMT box.
  24. Thanks John, I didn't take anything negitive about what you stated about the air cleaner. I was just answering your question honestly for everyone. I had thought about kitbashing this with the AMT 69 Olds for the better chassis and engine comp, then adding the 400 from Revell's 68 Firebird. That would add the detail I would like to see in this subject. I had to get the air cleaner thou since it is such a signiture piece of the Ram Air engine in the Judge's. I like this old kit and it can be built nice out of the box. I enjoy these old tool MPC kits as these are the kit's that will test your skills and make you learn something.
  25. This is one of my major kitbash projects. This is a MPC 73 Charger annual that I got as a rebuilder project. It was a nice unpainted build that was a great rebuild cadidate. Here is what I started with. It had the wrong hood. I was going to fill in the air grabber but used a resin 73 hood from Time Machine resin. Good thing too since I just bought a 72 Charger rebuilder that is missing the hood!! I decided to kitbash the chassis, engine compartment and all drivetrain from the newer AMT 71 Charger RT. I have done this a few times now and they come out great. Decals are from Keith Marks and I had the bumpers rechromed by Chrome Tech USA. I used Testors French Blue and automotive clear coat on this one also.
