  1. Here are some box art pics of the 68 and 69 Javelin kits. These are the thin boxes they used back then. I searched for years before I finally got the 68 Javelin kit pictured. It is so hard to find a built one that was not built as the funny car!! This is the 69 kit. This is the 68 Kit. I thought the interest was there for these kits but as much as I love them. I think the collectors want them more than the builders do.
  2. I never found anyone casting the 71/72 body. Or anyone casting the more common 73/74 Javelin kit. I bought most of my 73/74s off eBay and paid around $40 each. Less than a resin kit. I did eventually score two 71/72 bodies and got the chrome from Modelhaus. I did cast a few kits and parts for the 68 and 69 Javelin. I cast them because I only had enough parts to make one and I wanted to build all three years 68-70. Those kits on eBay sell for over $100 normally and rarely come up for sale. The parts I cast are all sold out and I don't plan to cast any more, sorry.
  3. I love to see AMC's built. I build mainly muscle cars and have many AMC projects. I have finished a 70 Rebel Machine and three Javelin AMX's (71, 72 and a 73).
  4. Wow somebody else owed a 71 Sport Suburban! Mine now has a 440 and gets 9 mpg. Plus I have to lay on my back and get the #7 spark plug from underneath and that is with the factory Super Comando manifolds. It's big but is not as roomy under hood. My 99 S10 xtreme has the 4.3 v6. Those spark plugs are a pain but not as bad as the starter. The worst job that I did on this truck was the intake gaskets. Two bolts are under the ac compressor. It's bracket also holds the ps pump and to move it forward you have to remove most of the belt system. Plus any of the bolts that thread into the block are sae. All other bolts are metric.
  5. I would love to see this kit restored. Here is my builds based on resin kits. I'm not 100% sure but I think this one was from Motor City Resin but I got it so long ago. I used the AMT 68 Roadrunner for the chassis and engine. This one started out as a Modelhaus kit that I converted from a Coronet RT to a Super Bee. Also used AMT 69 GTX for a 383 version.
  6. I don't keep a tab and maybe I don't want to know. We build for the enjoyment and some subjects just cost more. Most of my builds are box stock muscle so many are finished under $40 including the kit. I know I have some rare kits the I will have over $200 in when done but those are few and far between. Many of them will have aftermarket decals and correct paint and clear. Those builds I know will have about $30 just in those items alone. Many of my restoration projects have extra costs that I know I will have. I get many of the parts rechromed. I usually mount up two racks of chrome items at a cost of $65. Most of the time it is about 10 models worth of stuff averaging out to 6.50 a project. Many are just the bumpers and wheels but more recently I sent out Johan Marlin parts that were twice as many. Many of my rebuilders cost between $40 to $50 just to buy. Some cost me a lot more but that is because of the subject. A real nice stock built up 68 Impala $80 missing nothing.
  7. I love these cars and they are a blast to drive if built right. I really like when they keep all of the factory appearance with the modern performance and drivability. What is the most difficult is the custom body mods are difficult to pull off right. Keep the body as stock as possible and get the stance right. Modern colors in vintage stripes work great. What I can't stand is Mustang Shelby style stripes on a Chevelle, or Bumble Bee stripes on a Camaro.
  8. Note, Kevin is Missing Link Resin.
  9. Very nice. I scored one of these and need to redo the chrome. I will be building mine as well. Love building these older kits. Great job.
  10. I have always loved this kit and have built many. The earlier versions had the emblems cast on and later one didn't. I hope the emblems reappear. This is also a great parts kit for updating many of the older MPC and Johan B body mopars. That is why I have so many of them. I evenly built one as a 68 GTX and a 69 Roadrunner 440 6 BBL.
  11. That future is amazing! I need to try that!
  12. I think it would sell well. And I also agree that that plan is a good one. I would buy all versions released and maybe a few more. As it is I have all versions of the Revell 427 cobra, one AMT 289 cobra, plus I do have the HRM Daytona Coupe.
  13. Not from the factory. That hood was for the R/T only and is the base hood with the Shaker as optional. The 6 was not available in the R/T.
  14. So your price just went up? LOL
  15. Not only is he slow to reply he is also slow to ship. It may take a year or more to get what you want.
  16. I have a resin one from Jimmy Flinstone that came with decals too.
  17. These cars are cool, but last I heard he has all but one car, the 70 Cuda, I remember reading that he has found it but the owner would not sell it.
  18. ontact Greg Wann. He is post 54.
  19. Well it's now over and we are resting!! Here are some of my personal favorites from the show. Here is a link to the rest of my photo's. http://smg.photobucket.com/user/darkrapid/library/#/user/darkrapid/library/Desert%20Scale%20Classic%202013?sort=9&page=1&_suid=13665712016960320106327674662
  20. It's not a bad kit. It's a simple kit that dates back to 77. It had been released many times and is not hard to find. The 58 kit is a newer tool that has only been released once so far as the 58 and a modified release as the 59. The just released Revell 62 is also similar in tooling to the 58/59 kits. I don't have any of the current 62. But if you can only have one I would go for the 58.
  21. I'll be watching this one. I recently bought a 64 Corvette to restore. It was only missing a few parts but I bought a common 63 kit for parts. What do you need for yours? Here is what I got. It's real nice and I got the chrome redone. I don't know what green this is but it will not come off.
  22. I would be happy that it is spelled right. You never know in this day and age.
  23. I live in Az also and have had my wagon since 92. It's been in the family since 82. Since it is older than the OBDII cars it has to go on the rollers and has the dyno test. I hat going because the test opperators never do the proper test. Since it is a 71 they do not have to do any equipment inspections. They are not even supposed to test the gas cap (that applies to 74 and newer in AZ). I do have to have a cap thou. So may times I have had ispectors fail me for the cap and I have even had an ispector try to fail me for not having an (evaporitive emmisions system) He was looking for the charcole canister but it was not factory for Plymouth in 71. I have a fuel vapor line that goes to the breather on the valve cover. Once I pointed that out to him and even showed him the vapor line. I usually wait till the end of the day and go through then. One of the stations is open till 7pm and I go in at 6:30-6:45. There is usually no line and by then they are tired and just want to go home. Since they are usually dead and have to open up the Dyno lane for me I get the experienced operator, sometimes.
  24. I bought the stock kit back in 2008. It's a direct copy of the promo and was not warped. Here is the photos I took of the kit. It has the correct 55 interior and steering wheel. I have since had the bumpers and hubcaps chromed. My only complaint is the lack of the seam for the fender skirts. My example has a bit of a texture to it, and made the chrome difficult to smooth out.
